6 months old!

Say what!!?
Kate is already six months old, super hard to believe in another six months we will be celebrating her first birthday!  Very exciting.
She has started on some oatmeal cereal (likes that better than the rice).  She has also been introduced to carrots, sweet potatoes, and just today she tried for the first time bananas.  The bananas were a huge hit.  We love to hear her "talk" to her toys and use her monster voice, as I like to call it.  We have a hard time liking it as much when it's time for her to go to sleep, but it does make us laugh.  I have tried to get her making that noise on video but she stops as soon as she sees it.
Joe would love to see her crawling, but me... Don't get me wrong, I want to see her do this too but it means a lot more work for mommy!

We are still waiting for some warm weather here, quite done with the rain and clouds.
We do get an occasional break, and the sun comes out to remind us what in looks like.

2011, wow.

We have been quite the busy little family.  The end of January Joe had to leave his job at the hotel, we moved, and Joe began his first part of student teaching.  The student teaching is a full time gig for him, plus lots and lots of overtime as far as a huge detailed booklet that he has to put together.  It is kind of like his thesis.  Did I mention student teaching doesn't pay, actually we pay them (tuition and such).  So with no income at the moment and student loans adding up, Joe's Aunt and Uncle let us move back in with them. God bless them!! Joe and I prayed a lot about this part of his schooling/transition, and He provided for us.  We were also blessed again to have our things stored at our friends parents storage area.  We are beyond thankful for alllll the help we have been given.  This allows us to take out less money from student loans.  Quite a load taken off our shoulders.
April 30th, 2011, Joe will be GRADUATING!!  He will receive a Masters of Art in Education and be certified in Social Studies and Art.  I am so proud of my husband, he has worked so hard for this.  I can't wait to see him in his cap and gown and walk across the stage, it will seem more like a finish line I think.
Kate is almost 6 months old. That's half way to a year old!!! =/ Ugh this is going so fast!  She is such a happy baby and loves to hear her own voice. She has been sleeping through the night since she was about 31/2 months old. Granted she goes to bed quite late, between 10pm and 11:30 sometimes, but its wonderful for us to get an undisturbed 7-8 hours of sleep! We are now working on rice cereal, sitting up and rolling over.  The rice cereal is not her favorite thing.  She is doing really well with the sitting up. Rolling over has happened one time =/ hmm.  She makes us laugh and brings joy to our day.

In early February Kate and I flew to San Francisco to surprise my Mom who was there to visit her sister for her birthday. My brother also flew out from Kentucky to surprise her. Ohhhh was she surprised! We had such a wonderful time together.

Kate and her great Aunt Sheryl. Thank you Aunt Sheryl for helping us surprise Mom!

In Honor of Abuelo

Thank you Abuelo for all you have done for our family, your love, support, laughter and service to this country.  We have so many stories to tell Kate about her Great Grandfather. I miss you and love you so much.
Abuelo's 61st birthday and my 6th.

Abuelo's 80th birthday and my 25th!

Abuelo and Kate meeting for the first time.

Abuelo gave Joe the hat he is wearing. We will treasure it, it meant a lot to Abuelo.

Abuelo's service was beautiful. There were almost 300 people there to honor his life and celebrate it! I know too there were more people not able to make it.  He touched SO many lives.
My Abuelo, Abuela and Dad this last Fathers Day.  They have the same name and besides the height difference look just the same!

"Hasta Luego, never goodbye" Abuelo.
He always told me that (and everyone).
