I know.....I KNOW!

So it has been quite a while since last checking in. I am ready to load up a bunch of updates and such, but tonight I make a quick note about a recent quip from one of our children. So here goes........

I had to get to my office before 8 the other morning. I was the first one up in the house and I showered and got dressed. As I was milling around the rest of the crew woke up. Ashlynn comes up and give me a big hug and says "Good morning Daddy!" I think this is very sweet of her and a nice thing to hear first thing. Then she whispers "You never get up this early". Nice that you point it out for me dear. I appreciate it. A ton!

So in the past 11 months since my last post, we have been busy. It seems from this side anyway. Tami and I took a few vacations without the kids. One for our anniversary to St Lucia and another with a group of friends to Snowmass, CO for some winter skiing. I will post some photos soon. At least this way it will really be the highlight reel. Ashlynn has been in 1st grade and doing well. She is still much the drama queen and little actress, director and writer. Aleia started going to daycare in March and seems to be doing well also.

Also we just celebrated Ashlynn's 7th birthday and Aleia's 2nd. It just seems so crazy that they are that age already. But they are both pretty good children even if Aleia is in those terrible twos. She is lucky for that 20% of cuteness she always seems to have in her little pocket. Actually its really more like 20% terrible. But those times are trying for sure. And always ill timed it seems. But again, they are both good kids.

Well just wanted to get this thing started back up. I must be honest, I watched a movie about a person who did a lot of blogging and it got me thinking about how nice it may be later to look back at all of this. I want to have these little things documented somewhere. This is the place for now. Hoping that all of you are doing well.

We are leaving for a family trip to Disney World in just a few days (2 to be exact)....Once we return, I will post photos in an attempt to catch up on the past year.

My Tummy hurts a bit.....

Just a quick post to share a story that I wanted to get into written form before I forgot it all together.

So...last week Ashlynn was complaining (like Monday or Tuesday) about her tummy hurting and feeling kinda weird. Now this is nothing too out of the ordinary as she tends to say this when she want something to eat or just wants a little more attention. (which these days is often) But this was seemingly more serious. So we just kinda kept tabs on her for a while....and she still seemed OK. So the next day after her complaints we find out the reason......it seems that she had been "sneaking" snacks from the kitchen cabinets while no one was looking. What was she eating you might ask….well it was jumbo marshmallows. We had purchased a bag for S'mores and make 2 S'mores from the bag. That was on the weekend. Well in those next two days she had managed to eat an entire large bag of jumbo marshmallows!!! We decided that was definitely reason for upset tummy! But in her defense, she did leave two marshmallows in the bag. A point which she adamantly kept repeating to the point of being upset. I was saying she ate the whole bag. "No I didn't!!" she would reply. " I did not!! I left some for others! It was not all of it". Too funny and cute she had made a conscious decision to leave two marshmallows for others and to not have eaten the whole bag. So to her, it was not as bad as it could have been. I think she thought it would help her not be in trouble. Of course Tami and I could not be mad about such am amusing incident. So anyway,Tami and I found this to be an amusing tale. So I wanted to share just a little bit of Ashlynn with you all. Til next time........

One Year ago...well and a few weeks.

Late May thru Mid June 2009

OK. So I am pretty late with this. But again, better late than.... Anyway Aleia was so early it make sup for me being so tardy. Hard to believe that is has been over a year now. We are soon approaching her actual first day in our house. I looked back over the post and was just amazed at how all of this has evolved. I am happy to say that things have turned out really good. Aleia had her 1 year Dr. visit and she was doing well according to all the "charts". She has almost caught back up to her "peers" and I know soon she will be passing them by! Well at least I think so. She is almost walking now. But she still prefers to crawl because its faster and she is impatient. I am not sure where she gets that. (note sarcasm) But she will walk for a bit if coaxed enough. But at this point, I am fine with waiting. She is already into everything and once she can really walk around, she will REALLY be in to everything. She has a really long reach it seems. If you are not paying attention, she can grab something near by with lighting speed. And she has a pretty strong grip too. So its always fun. She can just grab something off a rack as you are walking through the store before you even notice. Whish! and she has something in her hand! So adventures abound.

Ashlynn is out of school and has already completed a two week session of swim lessons. She loves going to the pool. She is also doing pretty well with her summer. I think she likes not being in school for the time being. I am a little worried that she will be bored soon, or rot her brain from watching tv all day. But she does LOVE to watch the Food Network. So that is better to some extent. She is preparing to be some type of ballerina, drama, chef princess. If there is such a thing and if not, she is well on her way to being the first ever! But she is constantly comng up with funny things to say and do. Currently she is too old for Disney world. "You can't go back once you are six years old" ...as she has been saying. Too funny. I suppose since we did not go this year, it seems as such. But we keep trying to convince her that at Disney world almost everybody is six years old or acting like it!

So we have a small trip coming up for the family. We are headed to New Mexico for a wedding of a neighbor of Tami's from when she was a kid. So we are all flying into Albuquerque and then a little drive up to the wedding location. It should be an fun time and a first to travel with all of us on a plane!! We shall see how that one goes.

So I have a few photos below. One from when Aleia was born and then 1 year later. Then just a few others. As usual..Enjoy!

Long Overdue Updates

OK. So I know that I was supposed to update "soon"...Well it obviously did not happen. I am sorry about that. So here is an update. Lots of things going on. Aleia is growing like crazy and doing pretty well. She will be 1 year old later this month, which is utterly astounding! I mean too hard to even comprehend that this whole blog started with all of her drama..... She has come so far. She still has not quite caught up on all of here skills at this point, but she is pretty close and I am sure the Doctors will tell us everything is going great. Its just tough. I still always worry about her. And Ashlynn turned 6 years old on May1st. She had lots of partying to do last week and enjoyed all of it. Party at school on Friday with cupcakes and stuff. Then family party on Friday evening with most of the family. Then Saturday a dress up party with her "closer" girl friends from school. What a time that was. Photographic evidence below.

Things seem to be moving along though, in general. I am really busy with work right now, which is good, at least in this economy. Tami is trucking along at her job these days also. I said in my last post in March that I would have some photos from the “spring break day trip” to the wildflower center in Austin. I have attached the best few of those also. We have a busy month or two coming up with Aleia's birthday and some other various travels. I will once again ATTEMPT to keep this thing more up to date…..as always, easier said than done.

Quick Update - Video!

Just a little video from the skiing over the Christmas break. I will have some new photos after this Friday once we go on our little Spring Break day trip. Ashlynn is enjoying her spring break and no school. Aleia is recovering still from her double ear infection and bronchitis. So its not too bad around here right now. Aleia is really getting close to walking. It looks as though she may just skip the crawling thing still. Crawling is just no way to try and keep up with her big sister......more soon.

Ashlynn had a "event" at here school last week. It was the summation of a month long studying of all things "Texas".. I should have some photos of that soon. It was a classic and stereotypical Texas day full of "rodeo" events, "square dancing", and even chili cooking. Also they sang some "Texas" themed songs. I will try to get her to sing her songs so that I can get video. It was near impossible to do at the actual event. Imagine 120 kindergartners attempting to sing the same song in unison....!!!!!!!! Both painful and hilarious. So I will have her sing them on her own and try to post them. They are pretty amusing. At one point in her studies, Tami and Ashlynn had a small conversation about the state of Texas in which Ashlynn made some wonderful statements....

Ash: Texas is bigger than the United States.

Tami: Texas is part of the United States. 1 of 50. Like New Mexico and Florida. Those are states you have been to already.

Ash: Well, Texas is the largest state.

Tami: Alaska is actually the largest state.

Ash: Oh! Then I would like to go to Alaska sometime.

Tami: That's great! Its far away. A long way. Farther than Gamma & Pappa's House. (New Mexico)

Ash: Well... I don't want to be in the car that long, so we don't have to go.

I am sure that Tami knows the details better than I but that is the gist of the conversation. Still pretty good.

ASHLYNN SKIING

Quick updates

March 8, 2009

Well things are moving on around here. All the girls are growing up. just this week Ashlynn had a rear molar tooth come busting out and also Aleia got her first tooth, small as it may be. It is barely peeking through her gums, but its there. Maybe all her drooling and slobbering will slow down, but I doubt it since she has been doing that for a long long time. Also Aleia seems like she will skip crawling and go straight to walking. Trying to keep up with her sister I suppose. That part could be fun for us since Aleia seems to never want to be still. We will be chasing her all over real soon, I can just see it.

I know its been a while since the last update, but my computer got that virus and getting it back up an running along with my VERY busy work schedule took a little time.

So here are the final photos from out holiday vacation and then Ashlynn's second lost tooth. It appears we really need to get some photos of Aleia up on the blog. She is getting to be underrespresented. I am sure she will catch up soon. She is growing like a flower (not a weed). And is usually a pretty happy girl. Although, she is growing into her temper as of late. She likes to get frustrated when she wants to be somehwere other than where she is sitting. Or when she cannot reach that one special itms she is reaching for. But her soon enough, those days will be over. Or maybe I should say too soon. Tami and I are already complaining about how fast she is growing. Well that is about all for today. I should get one last bit from the trip uploaded soon.

Ahhhh!! To be Caught Up

Well I started this post about a week ago and well its been too long to get published. First I had a video that would not load properly and then my computer decided to catch a nasty bug. So for now, this is a short post with photos from our Christmas trip to Ruidoso, NM for some "winter" fun. Ashlynn went to Ski school for a day, which was her first time ever. And she did very well. She liked it well enough also. So Tami & I both hope to get her back regulary so she can be a skier. Tami & I managed to ski a bit also. I was the lucky one who got to ski for three days. But more to come on this once I get some things fixed with my computer at home. I am completing this post from my office......Well enjoy the limited post. And I suppoed I am not actually caught up...yet.

Texas and Alaska

So, the other day, Ashlynn and I are riding in the car talking....about Texas

Ash: Texas is the biggest state.

Me: No, Alaska is the biggest state.

Ash: Texas is bigger than America.

Me: Texas is one of the states in America. There are 50 states.

Ash: You mean *this* is *America*?

Me: Yes (laughing on the inside)

We continue on with our conversation....Ash says that she wants to go to Alaska. I say I'd like to go with her. Then she changes her mind...

Ash: I don't think I want to go to Alaska anymore.

Me: Why?

Ash: It might take a long time to get there. I don't really want to go on a long trip.

I'm going to remember this conversation when she comes to me asking if she can go to Europe! =)
