Knitting Adventures

Stitch, Knit, Knit... Knit, Knit, Stitch... I'm stitching away but don't have much stitching progress to show for this blog.  I have finished the first row on Challenge #3.  I'm working on Iris Keeper of the Rainbow again for this Challenge. Challenge #3, Row 1 completed: Blue Farrow Scarf The pattern is: knit, knit, purl... all the way across...  Till it's as wide as you want it! It's an easy pattern but scarves are still very time consuming things to make!  This link explains Farrow Stitch in more detail.   This blue scarf was made for a friend last year and I'm knitting a similar white one for myself at the moment!  Modelling the finished scarf: Using 5mm needles (US size 8) White Farrow Scarf I'm using larger needles for a bulkier look on the white scarf.  I had two types of white yarn stashed away, so decided to try knitting the two yarns together for a different effect! I'm liking using the two yarns at once... It's not such a problem

Crocheting & Knitting… But No Stitching!

The weather has been quite cold here, so before getting the knitting needles out this year I decided to try out crocheting for something new and different. I’ve only crocheted once before so it’s not something I’m very familiar with!  I wanted to make a beanie and cowl for a gift. What I came up with is intentionally different to the video! I based the beanie on the same stitch so it would match the cowl.  I added a rim on the for contrast and length (because whoops it wouldn't have been deep enough otherwise)!!!  With the cowl I decided to crochet the stitch so it ran the width rather than the length of the scarf/cowl. Beanie Cowl Please excuse the contrasting colours in the cowl pictures! The actual colour of yarn is m

Blog Update May

This months page is taking me longer than normal due to all the knitting I've been doing!   I knitted a scarf for my mum for Mothers Day (see picture on knitting page).   I also won a chart giveaway!   I have been following Karen Mendoza from FT FT FT Stitch who is also stitching Nocturne.   In celebration of her blogs 4th Anniversary she had a giveaway.   You can check out her stitching blog here .   I’m sending out a big thanks to Karen for the patience and kindness she has shown:)  After much humming and arring I decided on Josephine Wall’s “Spirit of Flight” (see stitching stash page for picture).   I have been wanting to brave one of her charts for awhile now but the prospect of that much confetti had me considering it carefully!   I am really excited about the new charts I have lined up to start!   I have also just recently started the crop of Aimee Stuarts Treasure Hunt Bookshelf and will post some pictures of this soon.    However, I am determined to finish Umbrella Sky pr
