Baby #3 is due to arrive on July 14th, 2013! My BIRTHDAY!! I can't think of any other way I would rather spend a 33rd birthday, than hopefully holding a healthy newborn baby! I am counting down the days to when I will be a mother of 3. Blessed doesn't even begin to describe how I am feeling!
It was 5 AM on Sunday morning, November 4th. Brigham hadn't been sleeping well for a few nights, and then it was also Daylight Savings, so he was up extra extra early, and this mama wasn't real thrilled! I wasn't expecting my period for a few days yet, but when I woke up that morning, taking a pregnancy test was the first thing that popped into my head. I had tested a few days earlier and it was negative, so I really was not expecting it to be positive. I didn't want to be disappointed. When the test processed and showed up PREGNANT, I was shocked & SO happy! I woke Derek up and told him right away!
I had a doctor appointment on Thursday, November 15th. It was just with a nurse, and was very brief. Basically I just had to pee in a cup so they could confirm the pregnancy, and also test the urine to make sure all the levels were where they needed to be. I got a binder full of pregnancy related info. and I was on my way home. It all checked out great!
Wednesday, December 5th, I saw my doctor for my first appointment and first ultrasound! It was such a relief to see the little bean on the ultrasound screen, and also see the healthy heartbeat! I was estimating the due date to be around my birthday, but when she told me the due date was actually ON my birthday I got a little teary eyed. So awesome! Everything checked out wonderful at this appointment too!
I have been feeling fabulous! During weeks 5, 6, and 7, I had terrible back pains/aches, and was queezy on and off, but it was actually much less than I remember having with the boys. Ever since then I have hardly felt sick at all! One thing that has been the same in all 3 pregnancies is that coffee and diet coke (which are 2 of my most favorite things) never taste like normal in the early stages of pregnancy. Just this past week or so I have started to love coffee in the morning again, so we are in good shape! Of course I limit my caffeine intake to much less than normal, but a cup or 2 a day is perfectly ok in my book!
Because I had gestational diabetes with Brigs, and my mom has been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in the last year, they tested me early this pregnancy. On Friday morning, December 14th, I headed in for a 2 hour glucose test & blood work for the 1st trimester screen. Thinking about the orange drink prior to the appointment made me gag, so I was real worried I wasn't going to keep it down. It ended up going down fine, and staying down! I drank the drink by 7 and had blood drawn, and then waited in their waiting room for more blood work at 8 and 9. And of course, I couldn't just have extra blood drawn for the trimester screen, so I had to drive to a different building to be poked again! By 9:30 my arms were bruised and I was starving! Later that day I got a phone call that I had passed the glucose test! They will test me again later in the pregnancy.
I feel like my tummy is definetely growing. Even Boston has made comments about it... long before he even knew I was for sure having a baby! I love the honesty in children :) The boys are excited, although you wouldn't know that from the video of them opening up the Christmas gift with blue & pink balloons! I was waiting for Boston to scream and jump up and down because he has been talking about me having another baby for a long time, but he just acted real confused and uninterested. He has said 100 times since then 'I can't believe your having another baby!'. He is really hoping for a sister this time around. Brigs is a little too young to really get it, but he does like to lift up my shirt and say 'Baby'. He is used to having me with a little daycare boy during the week, so hoping the transition to a baby in the house full time is much easier than it was for Boston!
My next appointment is Monday, January 7th! I have the 1st Trimester Screen ultrasound, and will see my doctor afterwards. Anxious to see the little bean on the screen again, but more anxious to know that everything is right on track and there are no concerns for anything abnormal. So many worries and uncertainties, but I know that God has had this little life planned out for a long time!

Christmas Day Celebrations!
Christmas day was spent with the Gerdes & Mesman families! It was nice to have a few of Les' kids join us this year. The more the merrier! We sure missed having Tim & Chels home this year, but they are patiently awaiting the arrival of their 3rd child! Any day now!!! There was plenty of food to keep us all munching the entire day! We were all anxious to share our baby news, but we waited until we opened gifts! Even Boston kept quiet, which was shocking!
Sweet little Alliana celebrated her 1st Christmas!
Family picture!
Brigs getting some practice for when he is a BIG Bro! He loves Alli.
The SD grandchildren!
The kids were all so curious to see what everyone was opening.
A Charger sweatshirt!
Brigs sure liked opening presents!
And he even thought new sippy cups was just as fun as a toy!
He also got some monster slippers! He was saying 'shoe'!
Do you think he was excited about another Super Hero?! He has been wanting Hawkeye for a long time!
Grandma & Grandpa got to open the last gift... The kids were so curious!
Balloons!
Grandma had finally caught on! She yelled 'Your having a baby!' A few people thought we were announcing that we were pregnant with twins since only 2 balloons popped out at first!
Ha! Nope, just one baby!
What a Blessed Christmas with all of our families! It was so fun sharing our baby news when we were also celebrating the birth of Jesus!
An unforgettable Christmas!
We woke up Christmas Eve morning on the hunt for Snoop. That's our usual morning routine for the month of December. We found Snoop, taped up on our chalk board..
Christmas Eve night was a bit different this year too, as our church didn't have a candle light service. We had very good intentions of attending a different church, but that didn't go as originally planned. We ended up going out to eat at the Outback, (My treat with my Christmas money from Derek since I felt so bad he got me a gift and I didn't get him anything!) and then drove around looking at Christmas lights! It was fun! We ended the night watching a Christmas movie on TV.
The boys loved all of their gifts. Brigs didn't really need anything, so we got by with 2 gifts for him. He was more into Boston's presents anyway, which Boston did not like!
A whole day to think about the secret we've been keeping...the anticipation was killing Boston although he already had a pretty good idea I think!
Christmas Eve day was so relaxing! I went to the mall (alone!) and did some shopping, and then ran a few other errands. It was so nice being out and about alone. I forget what it's like to shop without my boys along. It was quiet and I wasn't rushed. Perfect! Derek got brave and ventured out with the boys for a bit. They did some very last minute shopping for me. :) Boston walked in the house with some popcorn from Target. I asked him what they went to Target for because Derek only mentioned Scheels & Sun & Fun.. Boston said with a smirk 'Ah, just killing some time.' HA! Neither he or Derek are good with Christmas gift surprises. 2 hours later, they gave me my present. They just couldn't wait to save it for Christmas morning! I love that Derek thinks of me, even though we were NOT going to exchange gifts this year with the basement expenses, but I also find it comical what he buys. I am really not a sports fan, but he LOVES the SDSU Jackrabbits... so I got a Jacks t-shirt. With my growing belly, this t-shirt may fit for another few weeks! I got some coffee for my Keurig, which was awesome, and I also got some candy. Swedish Fish & Mento's, which only Derek likes! The boys also made me a home made card, which was super sweet & probably my favorite part about the gift! Inside the card was some cash that Derek had earned extra and he was sweet enough to give it to me!Christmas Eve night was a bit different this year too, as our church didn't have a candle light service.
Christmas morning, we were up bright and early to see what Santa had brought!
(The Super Hero toy bins were another Pinterest craft idea! They are all filled up already!)
Brigs got to open the first gift!
A grill!
Boston got a sneak peak at his gift and he was loving it!
The Ninja Turtle Shellraiser! Derek spent most of the morning putting it together!
Boston's other gift from 'Santa'.
A BayBlade Dome!
I love that Brigham is still excited about simple, inexpensive things!
Elmo's friends Abby & Zoe! If he isn't saying 'Elmo', the other character he is always talking about is 'Abby'!
There was a large gift for the boys from Snoop our elf. Snoop helped us let out our secret :)
Balloons?
Blue & Pink balloons?
Boston was pretty confused until I told him what it meant! We are having another baby!!!
Back to presents... The boys got the movie Brave!
Another gift for the both of them..home made Super Hero masks!
A Pinterest idea! They love them!
Boston got his very own Bible. I just love how excited he was!
Each year the boys get a calendar. It's more for me to journal their day-to-day happenings and milestones, but I pick a calendar that I know they will love, so they still think it's fun!
One last gift for B.
Woo Hoo! A Packer jersey!
The last thing we open up is the stocking stuffers! Boston didn't think getting underwear was fun at all!
Both boys are excited about being BIG BROTHERS in July!!

Christmas Celebration #2
On Sunday, we celebrated Christmas with my dad and Lisa. They treated us all to lunch at the Pizza Ranch first, and we all loved that! So nice to just walk in and head right for the food. Works perfect with kids who won't sit still long and it was nice not having a mess in the kitchen afterwards! After we ate until we could hardly walk out the door, we headed to their house for gifts & relaxing!
Grandpa Ron with the kiddos!
Yearly family photo in front of the tree!

Grandpa got 3 Bob & Tom CD's!
My dad built this shot glass holder for Brook to hang in his 'bar'!
This gift was a joke.. My dad has been helping us in our basement & couldn't believe Derek was trying to saw boards with his dull saw blade!
So he got a new one!
This gift made Derek's whole Christmas!
A new pair of Sanuk shoes!
Granny opening one of her gifts from us!
Cuddle duds!
And as if the kids (and adults) didn't get enough gifts... Santa stopped by!

The kids all curious who was at the door :)
Santa left a bag of goodies!
And the kids were anxious to open them!
