January 2015, a month of Birthdays

Myself (Liz), Marcus and James all have birthdays in January. It makes for a busy fun month!

I'm old now. Thirty!! Dave and I combined efforts to make a delicious trifle, my idea :) It was delicious---we made our own lemon curd for it. And we made a citrus pound cake too---so yummy!

We decided to do an outdoor birthday party for Marcus and James since there were some nice days in the weather forecast. It was pretty fun! The down side was we planned to ride the train at the park but it was shut down for maintenance. Marcus was very sad and couldn't stop talking about how we needed to find a key for it etc. It was funny but sad that we couldn't solve the problem for him. We went to the mall a couple days and rode the train that they have there.

Here's some pictures from their party:

Pizza, grapes, carrot sticks, caprisuns and cupcakes---what more could you want?

James's first cake. He's hooked!

Mmm mmm...

This being my first kid party I've thrown I was surprised at how many presents were brought! Our friends were so nice, and Marcus was thrilled!

I put this picture in because the look Marcus is giving his friend Rex is such a "Marcus look". He loves to get right in peoples faces and give them a smile. Happy boy :)

Christmas 2014

We decided to stay home for Christmas this year. It was so nice! We did a lot of traveling in 2014 and we didn't want to go anywhere. It was so fun talking about Christmas with Marcus. He is old enough now to understand what's going on. We tried not to focus on Santa too much, but on Christ. He understood pretty well. It was hard to not buy him too many things---at least for me (Liz). It is so fun to see him excited about his new toys. Christmas fun really is for the kids now :)

Decorating the tree. Marcus was very helpful :)

Loving the Santa hat.

For some reason wearing the Santa hat and running with the football went together perfectly in Marcus's mind.

At our ward Christmas party they had "Santa" come. Marcus walked right up to him and said "I want a train car for Christmas". In my quick explanation of what was going on while we were in line I didn't mention sitting on his lap---so he just walked right up to him and told him :)

James curious about the beard.

Ready, smile? James?

We spent Christmas Eve with some friends and performed the nativity. I'm pretty sure James had his hands on the Wise Men treasure the whole time. And Marcus was a cowboy Shepherd :)

Christmas pajamas!

Batman! Na na na na na na na...

Christmas morning!

So excited for Christmas!!

It's a train table!!

Dave's a Lawyer!

On 5 Dec 2014 Dave was sworn in to the Illinois Bar. The judge he is clerking for here in Raleigh was able to swear him in since he's a Federal judge. It was really cool to see Dave sworn in. He's worked so hard and come so far!

Family Fall 2014 Pictures

We got together with some friends and took pictures for each other. We did get some good ones! Here they are:

Fall 2014

In August we moved to Raleigh!! Before our move we purchased a second car - and since we will someday have more than two kids we sprang for a minivan!! We love it though. Nice and roomy :)

Raleigh started off very hot in August--but the fall was great! Dave started his clerkship at the end of August and has really enjoyed it. We love our ward (church) and neighbors here and have felt very welcome.
