How to Write Your First Draft

Heh heh... reminds me of:

The Ladder Operators

a and a are known as ladder operators. They occur in the quantum mechanical harmonic oscillator, where they serve the purpose of lowering and raising the states they are acting on, respectively. So for example, if I have state n, acting a on it lowers it to state (n - 1), and acting a on it raises it to state (n + 1).

From a philosophical viewpoint, there are two ways to look at the QM2 test tomorrow. One is to see my marks starting at 0, and then having a acting on it everytime I do a question correctly. The other is to see it as a full 100 marks, then having a acting on it with every part I leave blank or did wrongly.

The Weather's Mood Swings

And after my complaint yesterday about the sizzling weather, it decided to rain early this morning, and leave a cool weather probably through the day. Right...

Personally, if you ask me, I prefer the weather to stay like today most of the time. What's better than a sweet, cool morning... to sit for a test?

Can You Feel The Heat Tonight?

Ohhh yes! It's those nutty weathers time! I was bathing during the afternoon just now, and almost got scalded by the water that came straight from the tap! It's one of those days that make you wonder why Singapore is not running on solar power.

The Horror Week Nears...

Let's see... two tests, one project deadline, one essay deadline. All in next week (okay, essay not next week, but given its nature I'll definitely have to get started early, i.e. next week). And I probably have to squeeze two vivas for my experiments into the week as well.

If I can just get past next week... if...

Video Games Causes Violence... Again

... though this time it is not those violent, shooting games, but violent, racing games. Ah well, gotta share the blame you know!

Plans Plans Plans

To those who has yet to know my plans and to those who are not yet bored to death by my repetition of my vacation plans, here they are.

As most of you probably know, I have applied to ANU for SEP. Whether that is going through or not, I will be going to Australia anyway in mid-May (or perhaps even earlier). From that time till the start of the semester in mid-July, I will be trotting around the island on a backpack tour (sort of), exploring nature paths and wilderness tracks. I even have bought a Lonely Planet guide entitled "Walking in Australia".

Before some of you (a particular individual comes to mind) calls me mad and a masochist for "going back to army once more", let me state here that things are very different. How so? Mainly by the fact that it is my own choice (or pseudo-choice, depending on whether I have free will or not.)

On the Difference Between Engineers and Scientists

From my tagboard:

TWL (Engineer): Hmm... The domain of pandemonium. I wonder if that is a frequency domain or time domain.

Pandemonium (Scientist): It's a spacetime domain in R4.

TWL: I see ! That is the difference between engineers and scientists.

Pandemonium:

Website Updated

Not just a normal update. In fact, it's not a normal update. I've added some extra content and updated some new information. I've created a section on my personal notes which, though nearly empty at the moment, would be, I believe, of interest right now for those taking QM2. And also, I finally have more things to write under About Me! Yay!

Melting Under Stress

I remember, in a geography lesson during the good old secondary school days (when a day is simply: go to school, do homework, play games), the teacher saying that there is a theoretical limit to how high a mountain can go. Any higher, the bottom of the mountain will be under such high pressure that it will turn molten, resulting in a decrease in height. I'm not sure how true this is, but it does sound somewhat logical in a vague sense.

One of these days, my feet is gonna turn squelchy...
