Illinois Christmas

We were able to celebrate Christmas with family in Illinois today.  We got up early and drove to Cissna Park to visit Jeremy's Grandma, Esther Boyce.  She is such a jolly person.  We enjoyed a short visit.  The kids loved showing her the book about our Florida vacation.

It was so good to see her and get caught up on what is happening in her life.
Then we drove to Gibson City for the Meredith family Christmas party.  Grandma Melody Enz is a Meredith. We met at Jenny and Dustin's house.  It was the first time for us to meet their son, Dayne.  We had Monical's pizza for lunch.  The kids played games on the Wii while the adults watched football or looked at old family pictures.

Chilly Cheeks

The weekend after Christmas is officially dubbed the Chilly Cheeks Campout.  Jeremy and his Dad are in charge of putting together the Stake Winter Campout.  For as long as I can remember, they have gone to Pokegon, a state park in Northern Indiana.  The big draw is that it has toboggan runs.

They work for several days planning and shopping and packing.  They make Chili one night, and much to the delight of all involved, they make Kung Pao Chicken the last night.
Brayden got to squeeze in between all of the supplies for a cold and uncomfortable ride in the suburban without a heater.
This year was perfect.  There was snow so the boys could play on the sledding hill all day and then toboggan all night.

It wouldn't be a true winter campout without some Euchre games with Bruce in the warming hut!

Deacons getting ready to go down the hill!  Brayden was able to go down the hill 22 times!

Bruce decided to go down, much to the delight of all involved. He's the one in camoflauge.

The boys came home happy, tired, and cold.  But they said it was one of the best winter campouts they have been on.  I am just glad that Brayden has a father to take him camping and I can sleep in my nice warm bed!

Happy Birthday to our House!

This was us one year ago today December 17, 2011:  Moving into our new house!
We celebrated our home's one year birthday tonight with candles and brownies.
Then we kept another tradition and took the kids to see Christmas lights.
This tree was in a neighborhood close by.  One of the prettiest trees I have ever seen!
I am SO SO SO very grateful that it has been a whole year since we moved into our new home.  We have loved living here.  And I love it even more that I am not living last December over again.  Whew!  That was a lot of stress and hard work.  Looking back it was all worth it, but I am happy that it is one year behind us!

Ornaments

Every year we add a new family ornament to our tree...something to represent the year.  It might be a family picture or a trinket from a vacation.
This year we added a Disney ornament so we will never forget our Enz Family Reunion to Disney World. (Since that will most likely never happen again!)

We also get the kids their own ornament every year.  That way when they move away from home and have their own tree, they can add a lifetime of their memories to their very own tree.

My favorite moment of the day was seeing Rachel come up out of the water with a huge smile on her face and give her daddy a hug with her braids hanging down, dripping wet.
When I was helping her change she said that it was so much fun and that she wanted to do it again!  She was really happy.  It was also very sweet to see her confirmed and receive the Holy Ghost from her daddy.  She looked so sweet and pure in her new baptism dress.  The men in the circle were: Jeremy Enz, Bruce Enz, Tom Slack, Will Bryan, Bishop Anderson, John Daley, and our home teacher, Greg Anderson.

It was so much fun for Rachel to share this special day with her friend Sophia.
Sarah and Jackie are pretty good friends as well.  It was so nice to share this day with a family that we love.
Natalie, Rachel's cousin did an outstanding job with her solo.  Ashley did so well on the piano.  I was proud of both of them.

After the baptism we served lunch at our house.  We were so thankful for all of our family and friends who helped out.  It was nice to have a chance to visit with all of them.

Rachel and Grandma Holcomb
For some reason, I did not get any pictures with Grandma and Grandpa Enz.  But I promise they were there!
Love him.

We celebrated her birthday with family.  We gave her a set of scriptures.
It was Robyn's birthday so Jeremy and I took her out to dinner.  It was really nice to spend time with her.
