Eventful Week

I'm not going to lie, it's been a rough and crazy week. We are so close to leaving this place, which we have mixed emotions about. The job has been stressful as ever, but the place is incredible. So here's a little of our ups and downs this week....
We were able to go to the museum of Natural History again this sunday because Nate has never been. He liked the pictures with the fossils eating him the best aparently... This is the group that we went with...
Tyler & Danny from Spanish Fork UT

Bob (from Texas) & Marcus (from SLC UT)
Traci & Derrick from Texas
They are a fun bunch to work with, Nate has made a lot of friends and are going to miss a lot of them... Nate once again getting eaten by a fossils
Jaxson really wanted to ride one of them so we tried to get him on the slowest fossil so he wouldn't fall...the ginormous turtleJaxson was mimicking the mammoths trunk.
Mayan temple
Another great part of our week was to have Amy with us and hang out for the past few weeks. She has been trying to get a job in the city and is working for Capezio dance store right now. Jaxson sure loves his aunty amy, probably because she's pretty and she's fun, and Jaxson is a huge flirt with girls already...uh oh. Amy is looking for places to stay, but rent here is ridiculously high, so everyone pray for her to get into the right place and land the right jobs. I sure love having my sister around since we don't get much time to do things together. It's been a huge blessing and our relationship has grown stronger because of it. Here we are smothering Jaxson with kisses
I don't know how much he likes it right now, but I'm certainly scared he might like it too much from other girls later in life!! haha.
With Amy here, we have been to the pool a lot, Jaxson gets pooped from the sun, so it's nice that he sleeps while we get a tan. He is the best swimmer already, he kicks and kicks until his heart is racing, then he goes some more. its awesome!
Us at the pool!
Along with the ups...must come the downs....
Nate was playing basketball this week (its a great stress reliever from this crazy stressful job), and he tore a ligament in his ankle. He has weak ankles and this is not the first time, he actually did it last summer around the exact same time when we were doing this job in Kansas City. You definitely don't want to see his foot with that wrap off...it's black and blue with the swelling the size of a baseball!
But Nate liked it because he was able to take a couple days off and spend more time chilling with Jaxson. You can see how happy and content they are. How cute
Jaxson has also had a rough week, he's been teething again, and had horrible diarrhea and fever and whatever else you can imagine. His molars are all coming in at once, so I can only imagine how uncomfortable that must be for him. He certainly is a trooper though. He is doing some fun things now, like clicking his tongue, and giving high fives, and standing by himself, walking like a champ while he holds our hands, getting into everything he can, exploring the world. It's really fun to have him around, he's a blast.
We certainly hope that this last week here will be a great one, and that we can take care of everything we need to, to get ready for school and such. I'm proud of Nate for making it through another ridiculously difficult summer job, he's a trooper and it will be a relief to get back home and be close to family.

Trip to DC

We had a great time in DC over the weekend (despite the mad heat, hitting a parked car, getting a speeding ticket for 19 over, and walking over 5 miles to get to where we wanted) it was worth it. There is so much history here and it's such a gorgeous clean city! I would love to live there. The buildings are spectacular. We wished we had more than a day there for sure. We went to the holocaust museum as well as what was in the pictures, that was a little depressing, but it was great to be reminded. Jaxson was a trooper through the trip, even though 4 hours each way of driving in the car was a little rough for him. We decided that if tourists from other countries visit Washington DC first, no wonder they think our country is the best! Because DC certainly is a great representation of it. Visiting there made me a little bit more proud to be an American.

Jaxson's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day!

Our poor little Jaxson boy had a rough few days last week. I don't know if you can tell in the pictures very good, but he bumped his head several times trying to crawl in places he shouldn't and climb onto things he should, but the biggest bump he got on the right side of his forehead, left side of the picture, while he was in the tub. He bumped it so hard right on the spout. It was more likely for him to bump his head in the tub than any other place this past week because he had diarrhea real bad and a monster rash that covered his whole bum. I've never seen a rash that bad, but I'm sure it could have been worse. So lots of crying out of our little guy lately. But he is so much better now after we gave him a blessing and lots of pedialyte.

An update on all the things he is doing now at almost 10 months....
-crawling like a monkey, his left knee never really touches the ground, he pushes with his left foot, and crawls on his right knee. Its a funny crawl, but hey it gets him around.
-Pushing himself up on things to stand
-Standing by himself
-While he has support of chairs and couches, he'll walk to things he wants
-While holding one of mommy's hands, he walks like a champ
-saying all sorts of sounds and we keep teaching him more, he's a screamer and a talker, so we might be sad we're teaching him to talk at all! just kidding
-saying mama and dada to us
-laughing at everything! He is funny kid with a spectacular personality
-letting us know when he is hurting or feeling bad by crawling right to us and pushes himself up by our legs
-eating way more than he should be, but is so good at finger foods, and will chew food up with his teeth (he has 8 right now, but molars are already almost in!! Crazy huh!)
We know in no time he will be running all over and have all his teeth. He looks and acts so much like a big boy, its crazy how fast they grow up. A little sad to be honest. But I'm not going to lie, it's fun for the first one to see all the different stages in their life. He is the biggest blessing to us.
