The Beach

Yesterday was just about perfect, weather wise, so we decided to take a trip to Galveston. Since Alex works 4 days and has 3 days off we try to take advantage of that 'extra' day to do some fun things! So this is what we did yesterday...

It was actually a little bit cooler on the island than in Houston, and it was quite a bit more windy, which I think is normal for Galveston. But we didn't let gnarly hair (well...those of us who have hair) and sand in our eyes and cold (I use the term loosely, it wasn't like Bear Lake cold -it was more like Texans used to the water feeling like a warm bath, cold) water get us down! Nope not one bit (well OK maybe a little tiny bit)!

Ethan loved playing in the waves, even though he was shivering the whole time-at one point I made him get out of the water I was worried he might get hypothermia (is it hypo or hyper?). And while Abby didn't love the water as much she sure loved roaming around the beach and chasing after the birds!

What a beach babe!

What an almost cool dude, he'd be even cooler if his sunglasses were on right way!

Fun Day at the Beach!

Isn't She Lovely

So you know that Stevie Wonder song, "Isn't She Lovely" I recently learned that he wrote that song for his newborn daughter. And not really being huge Stevie Wonder fan, or a big fan of that song necessarily, I didn't know all of the lyrics so I looked them up and it's just a really sweet song for his little girl...Here's just some of the lyrics.

"Isn't she lovely
Isn't she wonderful
Isn't she precious...

Isn't she pretty
Truly the angel's best
Boy, I'm so happy
We have been heaven blessed
I can't believe what God has done
Through us he's given life to one...

Isn't she lovely
Life and love are the same...
Isn't she lovely
Isn't she precious
Isn't she wonderful..."

Yep, that's how I feel about her:

Pa-Pa Comes to Town

My Dad (Pa-Pa) came to see us for a few days and we had so much fun! My dad has been here so many times though it's hard to find new stuff to do. But we managed to do some new (for him) things, which I think was fun for him and for the rest of us too! Pa-pa sure loves his grandkids and it's safe to say his grankids sure love their Pa-Pa! Ethan and Pa-Pa are the best of buds now. It's pretty darn cute if you ask me!

We celebrated Easter together, which was nice. I don't get to spend many holidays other than Christmas with my family so it was nice to have my Dad here to celebrate with us, and Alex's Mom and Stepdad joined us for dinner as well. It's so nice being with family who love you and who we love back! We had a super laid back easy going day. We dyed easter eggs, let the kids hunt for eggs and had a ham for dinner. All in all a great Easter, oh, of course there was LOTS of candy! Boy oh boy do we have candy!

Easter Baskets~

Dyeing Eggs~
Ethan had a great time!

Abby wanted in on the action but we didn't let her, although she managed to get a hold of two eggs (with the aid of a certain Grandpa) one in each hand and had fun clapping them together. Needless to say we ended up with some broken eggs.

AND...
These picutres are of the kids at the church playgroup Easter egg hunt, the Wednesday before Easter...Since it was part of the Easter "Egg-stravaganza" (you like that? I have all kinds of egg puns rolling around in my head, no yolk, I do but I've scrambled the idea of using all of them just to spare you) I thought I'd include these pic.'s.

Ethan was so sweet with Abby helping her find some eggs and putting them in her basket. He's a good egg (sorry couldn't resist).

We went to Sea World in San Antonio, had a whale of a time! OK seriously no more puns! We didn't get to spend a huge amount of time there, because we got a really late start leaving Houston. And Sea World is only open until 5pm this time of year, so we spent about 3 hours there. Which was probably just enough for the kids and for the Pa-Pa. The Shamu show was fun and one of the mama whales had a 300 lb. baby in January so they let the baby swim around with the Mama while she did her tricks. The baby even got in on the action and did a 'big' jump. Pretty cute. Apparently that was baby whales (baby has a name but can't remember just now what it is) big debut that day.

Ethan was SO excited to see the whales and dolphins! He loved it! Here we are looking at the dolphins.

Alex convinced Ethan to ride this roller coaster, and, well Ethan didn't really like it too much. Until after he got off. That's Alex on the last car, Ethan is on the other side of him. And don't be fooled by the blurry-ness of the picture, the coaster wasn't going THAT fast. The photographer needs to work on her photo taking skills! After we left Sea World we went to dinner in San Antonio at the riverwalk, here Abby's looking down on the river at some boats.

And we went to an Astro's game. It was a perfect evening for baseball, nice and cool and breezy. It was Ethan and Abby's first official baseball game and Ethan got an official Astro's hat and loves it. We had great seats and unfortunately the game was a little slow and by the end of the 5th nobody had scored. So we left. Apparently all the action happened in the 6th, of course, but the 'stro's' ended up losing anyway. But it's still fun to see professional athletes in action (even if they are losers-ha! just kidding). And oh yeah! We saw a marriage proposal, you know on the jumbo-tron, aaaaaawwwww-cheesey! Actually it was kinda sweet, Alex and the rest of the crowd gave them a standing ovation. The girl was truly surprised and fortunately she said YES!

Thanks Pa-Pa for coming to see us! Come back and see us real soon--ya hear!?
