Once you gather all of those you need to paint your the bottom half of the foam wreath brown and then douse it in the brown glitter also paint the triangle yellow. (you could add glitter to this too)

::let dry::

Then wrap the feather boas around the top half, attach the googly eyes to the foam balls with glue then attach a toothpick to the bottom of each eye and place it on the bottom half of the wreath.

Cut out a gobble using the red foam paper and glue it to the yellow triangle.

::let dry::

Attach a toothpick on the bottom of the yellow triangle and place it to the bottom half of the wreath under the eyes.

Hang, and enjoy.

Now wasn't that Easy?

How to throw a pirate party

Hey Guys, Wyatt’s birthday is officially over. ::insert a sad face here::  We did a billion fun things that I will shortly be posting but for now lets talk about his Pirate Party. I starting thinking about his birthday theme at the end of his last party but started to work on it a few weeks before.

I love to throw theme parties because come on they are more fun then the everyday ones plus I love to live through my child's eyes!

To throw a theme party it just comes down to the little details that throw it all together and try not to go over board you don't want it to drive you nuts or cost you a lot of money.

First, we made cardboard pirate ships:

Wyatts4thbday3

We just moved into our new house so I had old boxes and there packet stuffing that I saved to make these so it cost me only 10 dollars to make. (Which was the wooden dowels and the duck tape I bought for both ships.) But you can use what ever you have lying around or go purchase boxes from your local stores.

First you need a picture or pattern of the ship you want to make just so you have something to reference. I used this… (click the picture for the link)

Now obviously my ships are not this technical but I wanted a common shape to go off by so that when you looked on the ship you could tell that it was a ship.

Here’s the basic pattern I used to make the ship and then duck taped it all together cutting and making adjustments when I needed too.

Then I used the packing stuffing to make the sails and the wooden dowels to hold them up. It took a few hours and some creative thinking to put it all together but I think it turned out well. The water is just blue table clothes that I used for Wyatt’s last birthday.

Second,

We made pirate hats:SONY DSC

I made the initial hats and that we sized them to the boys heads and finished them for a perfect fit.

instructionsforpiratehat

Trace and cut your black foam in the shape above adding tiny holes on each end and then make a pattern for the skull designed, trace and cut it out on glittering foam that has a sticky back and put it in the center. then size the elastic around the child's head and tie it through the holes on the end. You can dress it up by adding feathers if you want. Total cost: $2 per hat

Third,

We made pirate hooks.

Wyatts4thbday6

Cut a hole in the bottom of a party cup and stick rolled up tinfoil in the shape a hook throw the hole and your done. Total cost: $3

Fourth,

Make a Pirate Cake:

Wyatts4thbday8

I found this YouTube video to help me make this cake.

Seriously, it was the easiest thing I did for this party. I used completely different candies and made homemade icing but it still came out better then I thought it would and it was yummy!Wyatts4thbday7

Fifth,

I made Jell-O boats:

Wyatts4thbday

Blue Jell-O in cups with an orange slices as the boat and pirate flags for the sails. simple, cute and adds to the theme.

But for the main attraction was the treasure hunt:

We used this treasure map:

Got Pirate Tattoos and had a epic pirate ship battle…

I divided the kids up one group in the “Bloodblade” ship one group in the “Blackbeard” ship and they threw soft balls at each other that were “cannon balls” which then led to the buried treasure.

Wyatts4thbday13Wyatts4thbday15Wyatts4thbday14

That they got to dig threw and take as much as they wanted home.

Over all it was a great party and the kids had a ton of fun. Just remember its the little details that bring it all together.

but most importantly just have fun!

7 steps to take amazing instagram photos plus 10 must have photo apps.

I admit I use my iPhone as my main camera more then I use my dslr camera. The main reason is because its small enough to stick in my pocket, always available and I am an instagram-oholic.

So today I thought I would share my tips and tricks to get amazing photos from your iPhone. I hope you use them to your advantage.

raindrops - Copyfourhtofjuly4 - Copyfireworks - Copybannaflowers4 - Copybannaflowers2 - Copybannaflowers - Copy

1. Never use the instagram camera. I notice that when I have used the instagram camera the quality is well, crap, grainy. plus you cant take multiple shots. So your stuck with that imagine until you load it to instagram.

2. Hold your phone like you would hold your camera. With two hands. The more steady you hold it the better the image will be.

3. Find the perfect light. Its just the same as when taking photos with your dslr. you look for that perfect light. do the same thing with your iPhone. The better the light, the better the picture. (you could use a tripod even.)

4. DONT ZOOM. ever. You will lose heaps of quality and your photo will be extremely pixelated and grainy even if its just a tiny bit zoomed. If you want a close up picture go closer to the object. period.

5. Clean the lens often. (duh)

6. Look for different perspectives. I know when I shoot with my dslr camera I take the time to find a different way to look at what I am shooting. I do the same with my iPhone. shoot from below, from up high, from a different side. Shoot multiple times to get the photo that looks the best to you. (you can always delete and start over.)

7. Use other photography apps to process your imagine.

The main apps I use to process my iPhone photos are:

  • Snapseed: Worth every penny. You can adjust everything! I mean EVERYTHING
  • Vscocam: This is my all time favorite filter app. Comes with 10 different filters that you then can adjust to your liking. Love this app! Love it!
  • ShakeitPhoto: This is my go to quick edit. It acts just like a polaroid and 9 out of ten times you use it the photo comes out looking great with not a lot of work.
  • PS express: I use it only to reduce noise. That's it.
  • Lenslight: When I want to add extra light to my photo to give it more of a dramatic feel I use this app.

  • Crossprocess: Its the same concept of shake it photo but gives it a more dramatic look.
  • Picfx: Its an all in one place for filters, textures light and so much more.
  • Pictueshow: I haven't use this one in a long time but I do love the frames and textures it has.
  • easyTITLER: The best app to add words to your photos. Gives you a ton of fronts and options to adjust the opacity of them.
  • Squaready: The perfect app to use when you don't want to crop you photo into a square to add it to instagram.

I hope this inspires you to take more amazing photos with your camera phone and if you are not following me yet on instagram please do @thedailywyatt.
