Just playing last night. Just a fun card to make with some previously colored images except the background.

I entered this card for the challenge over at CAARDvarks. The challenge is to create a card using only bright pink, black and white and yes that is a bit of a challenge for me. The biggest part was NOT to color anything on the card. Have a sunny day! Kathy
Here are the deets on the card.
Hero Arts vine # CL32 (Friendship set),PapertreyInk damask set and Raspberry Fiz pp,Martha Stewart Punch &Black Pearls.
I stamped the damask in Versamark and embossed in clear for the background. The image stamped on hot pink pp and cut out the flowers. Then I cut the same boarder in black and white and layered. The final touch was putting down 66 black pearls. I trimed the glue off each one....I don't like it when you can see that trail of glue bits around the pearls.

Just a quick post...stamped, cut and colored the background. Have a great weekend!

Bleeding Heart Butterfly Card

I have been thinking about Kate's family and have been working on cards for each member of the family. This one is for the parents and I hope that it warms their heart! So much tragedy...
Squeeze your kids tighter and tell them you love them more. Hugs to you,Kathy
Here is a card I made when I was away...I had so much fun coloring this design block stamp from Hero Arts. I'm working on some more cards for Kate's family.
Here is all the info that I am pasting here! Thanks for stopping by!

Cards for Kate card drive

It is time for a new Card Drive - a Cards for Kate Card Drive.

Cardsforkate_logoL.hVtXhddMcADJGMQN

Here is some info about Kate:

About 6 weeks ago the life of the McRae family changed forever when their precious 5 year old daughter, Kate, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Dad (Aaron) is a pastor in Arizona and he and his wife, Holly have two other children, Will and Olivia. Of course this is devastating for the whole family and many are praying for them. (Go to www.prayforkate.com to learn more about this family and their struggle). Kate has a rough road ahead of her for quite awhile. When you hear their story you will want to do anything you can to help.

And one thing we can do to help is to send cards to Kate and her family to encourage them, give them strength, and let them know how many people are thinking about and praying for them. And the most generous and kind people in the world are crafters so we thought we’d have a Cards for Kate Card Drive. Jennifer, Kristina Proffitt, and I have teamed up on this drive. We have all been following Kate's story and have been so touched by this family. Be sure to watch our blogs for more info, etc.

Think of how much it would encourage this family to receive cards from all over the world. You can simply send the cards to me. We will then box them up and pay to send them to Kate's parents. (We have already gotten the ok from them.)

The details:

  • Cards can be for any member of Kate's family:

- Kate (age 5) - The sweet girl who is battling cancer.
- Little brother Will.
- Bigger sister Olivia.
- Mom and Dad, Aaron and Holly.

  • Cards can be anything cheery, encouraging, supportive, etc. (This family is a family of God, so for all you Christians out there, feel free to share messages of Faith.) Anyone can send a card - even your children!
  • Please write a message in the card and sign your name and where you are from. On the card envelope, please write the name of who the card is for (Kate, Will, Olivia, Aaron and/or Kate). Also, please don't seal the envelope, as Kate's parents might want to preview cards before the kids see them.
  • With your cards, please include a piece of paper with your name, address, email address and number of cards. We will keep these for picking out prizes. (See below.)
  • The cards should be sent to:

Jennifer McGuire
Card Drive for Kate
PO Box 428612
Cincinnati, Ohio 45242

  • Please send the cards to arrive by October 1. This should give enough time for those overseas to play along. As we get enough to fill a box to send to Kate's family, we will send them. This way they don't get them all at once. And since they are having some struggles lately, the sooner we get some cards, the better.
  • If you want to send more than just a card (such as a gift), please just send directly to the address given HERE.
  • If you want to donate money to Kate's family, please click HERE. If you want to help cover the costs of shipping, feel free to include some money in with your cards. Any money leftover will be donated to the family. (But there is NO need to include money.)

And... how about some prizes as a thank you for participating? For all the cards we get, we will pick random winners of some great prizes. Click HERE for up-to-date prize info. Stuff will be added soon and often. Please keep in mind that winners will be pick based on piece of paper you include with your cards with your name and info. So, be sure to include it!

Thank you everyone,

Jennifer, Kristina and Jana

p.s. If you have a blog and want to post this on yours please feel free to copy any of this post that you want on to your blog. Spread the word! (and the prayers!)

Card for Kate...please say a prayer for her too!

I made this card for Kate last night. I am going to send you to another blog to read all about her and her family. I am not the best communicator and would rather spend the time making some cards for the rest of her family.

Birthday Cards for my two Nephew

Hello All, I don't know why this looks so faded ...it is a muted card..but..anyway... I needed to make two card for my nephews that share the same Birthday (different family's) So I started out with Shari's Sketch #2 (which I love) First I used the large scallop Nestabilities and stamped the leaf in Versa Mark & the clock from Tim Holtz? Then I cut the rounded edges and scored it and distressed it. For the bitty squares I scored them then clipped the corners so I could turn them up. Stamped the Happy Birthday message and cut into strips and distressed. Added some pen and ink touches and done. I can't wait to make a Birthday card for my Sis-in-law...much more fun! TFL :)

I just had to use this penguin from Memory Box for the challenge over at Caardvarks Winter Wonderland Challenge. Why you ask... so I can win some Hero Arts Holiday 2009 new stamps! I love the background design block from HA (#S5609) and I had to add some white dots to make it my own. The sentiment is from Memory Box & paper is from Taylored Expressions. I'm not anxious for winter..still enjoying summer. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.
Hugs,Kathy

This card was created for the Hero Arts Sketch Challenge #2 and for the Caardvarks challege.
I designed the tree with two of the HA green notecards. Stamped, distressed and dotted...of course. I learned a few things trying to get the results I wanted with my snow. First I applied Glossy Accents then added white glitter (DOESN'T WORK) so when that mess dried I added glue on top of the glitter mess and poured on flocking in white (DIDN'T WORK) I guess because of a reaction to the Glossy Accents? So then this morning I painted white on top of my snow and poured on glitter. It was 3 am last night and I'm rolling glue in flocking to make the snowballs...crazy or stupid? Sooo with all this trouble I really hope you like it!TFL S5213 Dots & Flowers- Hero Arts S5141 Four Leaf Grid-Hero Arts Christmas clear set...sorry I can't find the number :( (Hero Arts) Soft pool Ink-Hero Arts Other Supplies: Flocking,Ranger Broken Chink ink,Stickles,Colored Pencils,Bo Bunny white paper Amuse check paper

Feeling Dotty

Hello...this is the last card that I made on my vacation and it was so fun and relaxing to make.
I made this card for the challenge over at Hero Arts .All week I have been thinking of Sneak Peek #1.heroarts.com/blogs/club/2009/08/03/sneak-peek-week/
I am dying to get my hands on the new cling stamps and loved Lisa's card with Cherries. So I tried to get the same clean look with bright colors that I just loved on the peek.

Here are the details. I used Hero Arts "Dot Flourish Border" . After coloring with my Copic markers I added lots of my own dots as well ( black dots and white dots too)...then I distressed the edges. It's easier to see what I mean with the added dots if you look at my close up pic. The cherry body is from Papertreyink and I cut the stems and leaves free hand. I used Ranger's Faded Denium to distress the cherries.

Button Lady

I was in Nantucket and went into this little "shanty" that they used for fishing. This sweet old lady turned it into an antique store and filled it to the brim!! I went in for a search of buttons and found a nice variety! The sweet lady was so happy to have someone put her buttons to good use that she gave me a wonderful price! Soo....I made this card for her with one of the buttons from her store. I can't wait to mail it to her. The stamp is from The Greeting Farm. To color the deer first I distressed it with Ranger Ink then added a bit of color with my Copics. Have a great weekend!

My Nephew

A little sweet birdie told me that my nephew is following my blog along with my niece so I made this card for him to say thanks.
Here are the deets on the card. I was inspired by the new cling stamps and the wonderful sneak peeks at Hero Arts. I wanted to make a more masculine card for him and I love this "bird" from Hero Arts. I stamped the "grass" in Versamark and on the craft and bent the stem to give them more movement. Then I stamped the grass on different neturals and cut out and pop dotted. Then I colored with white pen and applied with glossy accents. The background I used my Cuttlebug and added whit to the dots with my white pen. I Added faux stitching...still on vacation and I didn't bring my sewing machine. I hope he likes it.
Have a great weekend! Kathy

There's No One Like You...Thank You Cards

Hello All,
I have posted a few pictures of our dog Max who's a Golden and he's pretty special. We are so lucky because when we go away on vacation either my sister-in-law or my good friend take Max. So naturally I want to make a special card for them and this is what I came up with. I picked up these antique buttons in Rhode Island on our vacation. The stamps are from "The Greeting Farm". I really had a great time coloring them with my Copic markers. You should see the supplies I brought along with us...I rarely leave home with our any supplies!
Have a great day! Kathy

Hero Arts Sweetie Pie Cards

Hello I'm back. As you know I was chosen as a "Hero Arts Hostess" along with seven other wonderful and creative women. I really admire each and everyone of these lovely ladies and I also draw a lot of inspiration from them as well. So I created one of these cards for each Hostess SisTa's as I like to say. We still are on vacation and I'll be back to share a card soon that I'm working on for my Nephew....a little birdie told me he's checking out my blog which makes me very happy :)
Bye for now! Hugs,Kathy

My Niece

I received an email from my sweet niece and she suggested that I update my blog..it's been a while. We are on vacation but, she's right so I made this card for her....I was touched by her sweet suggestion. Everyone is watching me so more later...I hope.
Hugs,Kathy
