Coupons Coupons Coupons

I just got back from my first real attempt at doing the coupon thing. Since it's after midnight I am resorting to the "blog" to share my excitement cause no one is up and if I tried waking my husband up to tell him I'm pretty sure I won't get the reaction that I'm going for.

I've heard how great it is to use coupons but I always talked myself out of doing it. It seemed so confusing and very time consuming. Whenever someone would tell me of the great deals they were getting I always told myself," It's alright you aren't missing out you never use that stuff anyways." But then about a month ago my sister in law told me of all the things she bought for under $20. The thing that impressed me the most was the toilet paper for 10 cents. Who doesn't use toilet paper???? And more importantly who doesn't want to buy it for 10 cents?

Tonight was interesting. When I got to Albertson's there were like 4 other girls with coupons in hand and carts full of groceries. I really tried to act like I knew what I was doing but really every second I got I sneaked a peak at their carts to see what I should be getting. As I was going down the aisles the things I went for were gone. I was so proud of myself when I got to the maxi pads and there were still a ton left. I filled my cart up with the pads and thought how smart I was that I knew these were a good deal and everyone else didn't. With that satisfaction I walked to the cashier and began to unload. My confidence left quickly when she told me I was only allowed to use 3 double coupons per transaction and since there was someone behind me she had to limit me to 3 transactions. I needed like 9 transactions to use all the coupons right. Luckily the girl behind me was going to do the coupon thing too so the cashier let me slide on that rule. When she got to the maxi pads she nicely made me aware that although I had a $2 coupon the store would only double a coupon up to $1 AND you can't double a coupon if the coupon is more than $1 off. So that's why there were so many pads left on the shelves. LOL. Serves me right for thinking I knew more than the girl with tons and tons of groceries and coupons in her cart.

Anyways, I still left pretty excited about the coupon thing...obviously, if I'm writing about it at one in the morning. So I ended up spending $6.93 on 4 bottles of dressing, 5 things of deodorant, 3 dozen eggs, a crunch bar (not pictured cause I ate it in the store), 4 bottles of BBQ sauce, and 2 fruit drinks. Not too bad. I think I can get use to this.
