Irish Dance performance with Crawford
The girls had their first Irish Dance performance last night. They looked so cute in their new costumes. They will be performing for schools and also down at thanksgiving point at the Gingerbread festival. It should be a lot of fun. We want to thank all of our family and friends for coming to their recital. It meant a lot to all of us.

Finding the perfect pumpkin
I just love pumpkin patch pictures. They colors are so cool! It is also so fun to search through all the pumpkins and find that perfect one. There is a cool pumpkin patch by Chris and Kristy's house that we like to go to every year. Wendy and Clara came with us as well. They have a little hay maze and horse rides as well.

A veiw of the chosen pumpkins

Talia fell asleep on the way to the pumpkin patch. She did wake up in the end to pick a white pumpkin.

Halloween
We had quite the party this Holloween. We went to two Hallween carnivals, a family party at Grandma Taylors and they each had a party in their school class. By the time Aleaya had her school party she wanted to wear something else. Change is always nice. =0)
Our nieghborhood is so much fun. Trick-or-treating was great fun this year. We have a nieghbor that roasts hotdogs and hot chocolate on their fire so we went over to visit them before we went trick-or -treating. We then had another nieghbor who was cooking scones on their drive way. It was lost of fun! I was frustrated that i didn't get pictures of trick-or-treating. Our camera battery decided it wasn't going to keep a charge anymore. I was pretty bummed. Oh well.
Here are some pictures from the festivities.

Star of the Week
Mckenna was star of the week. We made her a poster with pictures and listed some of her favorites. She got to each lunch in the classroom with a friend, bring her favorite story, and we also wrote a letter about her to read to the class. We had a cute video of her at 18 months singing I'm a little teapot with actions, but they didn't have a VCR to play it on yet. I have posted the letter we wrote to her class below. It was fun to put this together for Mckenna and we are so blessed to have her in our family. We love you Kenna!

Mckenna was born on a cold wintry night in January. She was a few weeks early and came very quickly! She was 6 lbs and 5 oz and about 18 inches long. She had a little bit of auburn hair and the cutest little face. We were so excited to have a little girl!
Around three months old, Mckenna decided her mommy and daddy were the only people that could hold her. If other people tried to hold her she would give them the saddest little face and start to scream. She was very shy of strangers, and would get worried if we were not close by.
Mckenna talked very early. She said her first word around 8 months and added more words quickly. I remember going to the doctor and having her listen to Mckenna with a shocked look on her face saying, “I can’t believe how well she talks!” She could say all of her nursery rhymes by the time she was around 18 months old. We have some great videos of her performances. She knew all of the actions to several songs as well, and would perform them for her family and friends.
Mckenna also has a great talent for creating beautiful things with her hands. She loves to draw and would draw beautiful pictures with great detail. I have pictures of her drawing a mermaid with thousands of little scales all down her tail. She would sit for hours and draw. Her preschool teacher said that Mckenna was always the last one to finish her art project and would be very frustrated if you stopped her before she was done.
She also loves to sculpt things with clay. She has made some very beautiful mermaids and other pretty things. When we moved into our new house and we didn’t have a yard, Mckenna would get water from the house and mold things out of mud.
Mckenna’s imagination has also helped her to write some wonderful stories. She wrote a story in second grade that took up a whole spiral notebook. It was a fun Halloween story called “The night the babies where born.” She has a story about a leprechaun friend that visited her through the heat vent as well that is really great.
Mckenna is such a fun part of our family. She keeps things lively and with her around, there is never a dull moment. She as great ideas and has a lot of energy as well. She is our little sparkler. We are so grateful for her and are so glad she is part of our family. We love you Mckenna!

Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire

Ever since we put in our fire pit I have wanted to roast chestnuts over an open fire. I have talked about it incessantly. I know, I know, I am weird. Most of us have sung the song a million times but have never actually done it. I decided that I didn't want to just sing about it, I wanted to actually do it. So for my birthday I got a chestnut roasting pan. I then had to wait until chestnuts were available in the stores (chestnuts are a seasonal item). On Friday Smiths finally got a shipment of Chestnuts in. After work I went straight there and picked some up. If you have never tried fresh roasted chestnuts before you are missing out. They were as good as I imagined they would be. I can't describe the flavor as they are unlike anything I have ever tasted. Suffice it to say I loved them. I can now relax as I have roasted chestnuts over an open fire.

Tribute to Mom
Mom,
It has been two years since you returned to our heavenly home. I miss you so much. I think of you daily and wish that I could talk with you. I often have questions that I know that you would have the answers to. On several occasions I have picked up the phone and dialed your work number or tried to call you at home only to realize what I was doing. Oh how I wish that you were still here with us. I know that others have lost a parent and have had to move on. But the change has been so hard for me to deal with. I just want you to be here with us.
The moments that I miss you the most I am sure that you would be willing to help me through. You have always been there for me when I needed you the most. I can always count on you being in the stands cheering me on. Thank you so much for that. I am so grateful to be able to call you Mom. You set such a wonderful example for me to follow. I love you for that.
I know that you are aware of what we are doing and hopefully you are pleased. I have tried to keep the promise that we all made to help our kids remember you. Your grand children all love and miss you so much. They are all growing up to be great kids. I know that you would be very proud of them.
I am so grateful for the knowledge of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that we can be together again. I know that Jesus is the Christ. That He lived and died so that we can be together as a family again.
I love you and miss you!
Love,
Chad

San Diego September 2007
We went to San Diego for our last getaway before school starts next week. The girls had a lot of fun playing on the beach. I think we brought home every sea shell that they found. We let the girls choose to go to Legoland or Seaworld and they chose Legoland. Legoland is an amusement park just for kids. We went on every ride in the park, except one, at least once. Several of the rides the girls went on over and over. We had a really fun time. It is now time to get back into the routine of school and bid summer adeu until next year.

Washington D.C.
On Tuesday afternoon we decided to go to Washington D.C to visit Melissa's sister and her family. We left Tuesday night flying to New York and then on to Washington D.C. We had a great time. The girls loved staying with their cousins. They played from sun up to sun down. Thank you Jen and Chris for allowing us to stay at your house and visit with you. We had a lot of fun.

Weekend Getaway to San Francisco
We decided at the last minute to go to San Francisco for the weekend. We had a lot of fun. We flew down on Friday evening and came home Monday afternoon. We met up with Bryan and Haley and went on a really fun tour of the Jelly Belly factory. After the Jelly Belly tour we went to the Nut Tree childrens park. We visited many neat sites in San Francisco. We drove down Hwy 1 to Half Moon Bay. Along the way we stopped and let the kids play in the ocean. They thought that was great. We ate Sunday dinner with Bryan and Haley at their house in Walnut Creek. We tried to meet up with my brother Ike but he was tied up all weekend with football and doctor appointments. Maybe next time.

Taylor Family Fun
The past few weeks we have had a lot of fun with the Taylor side of our family. Alan, Mary and their kids, Bryan, Haley and Eli, Jen, Chris and their kids have all been in town. Together with those of us that live here in Utah we have had some great times. The kids have watched a few movies, played in the yard, swam in the pool, visited the zoo, played in the fountain at the gateway, roasted hot dogs and marshmallows over Grandpa and Grandma Taylors fire pit and went boating. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma for all of the fun!

New York City
I have been to New York four times in the last two months and haven't had time to get to know the city. I promised myself that the next time I went I would do some exploring. Well I got my chance. I flew to NYC on Sunday night for a meeting on Monday. My meetings ended around a quarter to six and I was off.
I took the subway from Queens, where our office is, to manhatten. I was able to see some really neat things. I even went to the American Girl Doll Store. I looked for the temple but I was unable to find it (next time I will get the address ahead of time). I walked around NYC taking in as much as I could until I was just too tired. I got back to my hotel just before midnight. NYC really is the city that never sleeps. It seemed to me that there were more people in the streets the later it got. I didn't get down to lower Manhatten like I was hoping to so I guess I will have something to see the next time I go to NY.
ABC World News.
Times Square
Radio City Music Hall
The Set of the Today Show
St. Patricks Cathedral
The New York City Library
The Chrysler Building
The Empire State Building
From the observation deck a top the Empire State Building. (Well worth the $18 to go up).
