Alexa's Tonsil & Adenoid Removal

September 30th, 2013
After Gavin's surgery went so well, we decided we had better go ahead and do Alexa's also. Hers weren't quite as big but she snored occasionally and got strep almost as often as Gavin. The doctor said that there is a chance that she could grow out of it but if not, we would have to do it when she is older and it is harder on them the older they are so we just did it.

Alexa is older so she was way more terrified than Gavin. She tried to be tough but she was very nervous. They asked if we would like to give her something to calm her down and not make her so nervous. Since we weren't able to go into surgery with her, we decided we had better give it to her. I can't remember what it was but it made her SO CRAZY! It was hilarious, we couldn't help but laugh... a lot. She was saying some crazy stuff and she kept hitting her head on the bed-rails. I'm pretty sure the nurses were dying when we just kept taking video of her rather than help her! :) Parents of the year.

This one seemed to go by faster than Gavin's. The doctor came to tell us that she did great. He did say again that both her tonsils and adenoids were not as big as Gavin's. It was sad again to see her waking up and feeling the pain. She needed several doses of meds, more than I remember Gavin needing. She was really hurting. It was awful to see. I do think that she recovered a little faster than he did though. She seemed to be up and moving a little sooner than he did.

She loved this cute nurse. Lots of fun gas flavors.
