A new chapter

This pic is old, but it's the best I can do and one of my favorites of us.

Today was a big day for us. It is official the the Chavez Six will remain the Chavez Six. I had my tubes tied today and I think it has finally hit me. I'm happy and sad all at the same time. Analia has been so insistent that she still has a little sister waiting to be part of our family, and sometimes we felt that way too. However, the time has come that we've decided our family is complete until we marry off our kids and have grandbabies of our own.
I'm sad that we wont have baby things laying around our house for much longer. Evie didn't stay a baby as long as I would have liked. She's walking and practically talking these days and will be two in September which is hardly considered a baby. She may soon be the earliest of my kids to potty train as well since she really seems to want to do what the other kids do we may be rid of diapers soon too.
They're all growing up fast. Duncan will be starting school in the fall we hope and has finally started talking. He plays video games almost as well as kai and is a very stubborn little boy. He also can be the sweetest boy in the world and is still, to my joy and utter happiness, a mama's boy.
Malachi will be 6 in September and starting kindergarten. He is a great helper and as long as you have his attention is more than happy to do anything you ask. He hardly ever complains and really tries to make us happy in everyway. He's quick as a whip and is taking the intiative to start learning how to read. We're very proud of him.
Analia is quite the little girl. Maybe little isn't the right word. She's getting pretty tall these days and is obviously her mothers daughter, 7 going on 17. She's very sensitive and is a good little helper when she wants to be. I cannot believe my baby will be 8 in January. Just thinking about her getting baptised soon makes me want to cry. Before I know it she'll be graduating high school. I swear it seems like yesterday we brought her home from the hospital a little 5 lb baby and now she's almost as tall as my shoulders.
Well although I'm sad they're all growing up too fast I must confess that I'm happy that we can do more things together as a family and not have to worry that they're too little.
Our family is complete and we're so grateful for each one of our kids and the joy they bring us when we don't want to wring their necks...just kidding.
Just as an fyi the surgery was quick and I should be feeling back to my normal self in a couple days. Thanks to my hubby for taking care of me and to my parents for taking care of our brats. :)

A boring post with no pics to start the year off.

I cannot believe it's been two months since I posted anything. Ok...I'm lying and I can believe it. The past two months were a little crazy around here. Some how I got a crafting bug and decided that I was going to make my kids stuff for Christmas this year and it was going to be great, right? Wrong. I unded up spending 5x's what I was going to in order to keep my Christmas cheap and I managed to only finish making two things. One was a crayon roll for Analia (the boys crayon rolls are still cut out, but not finished) and two felt swords for the boys that ultimately my mom ended up sewing for me while I was working on something else that didn't get finished either. The swords also ended up looking quite similar to a male body part. hmmmm...not the Christmas presents I was envisioning. So needless to say my Christmas turned out to be way to stressful and in turn I think it ruined it for me. Next year I'm sticking to store bought and I will never again decide to make anything for Christmas a month before and during finals. So if I ever get around to finishing the projects that I set out to do then I'll post some pics. Otherwise I'm sorry you're out of luck.

This past year was all in all a good one. I can't complain about anything really. We moved to Bryan, TX for Scheddi and I to go to school and hopefully sometime this year I'll be done. Although I started out wanting to go to be a radiology tech I have decided the sooner I can get done the better and have changed it to being a medical transcriptionist/coding certificate. I will be done by the end of the year and I'm so glad. I hate school. Scheddi hopefully will be at Texas A&M by the fall and will be enrolling in the Urban Planning program there. At least that's the plan. He recently told me that he's also planning on applying at Texas Tech in Lubbock where my little brother is going to med school this fall...umm...sure honey (let's hope he doesn't get in there, i'm not up for Lubbock.) Besides I like it here. Not to far or to close to family and I don't have to much to complain about once I get past the stinky cigarette smell in our house that comes over from the neighbors. I'm still working on that one.

The kids are all doing fine. Eve and Duncan stay home with me and Kai and Analia go to school all day. Analia loves first grade and is getting very tall. Kai is in preschool which here is more like glorified day care, but he loves it all the same and also is getting tall. Duncan will be going to preschool in the fall and i'll be home with Evie all by her lonesome. Since we're pretty sure she's our last baby it's been kind of sad for me this year to see her getting so big so fast.

Oh and one more milestone this year...Duncan is finally potty trained! Now my mother, husband, and mother-in-law can all get off my back about it and I have to admit it has been nice not having to change him. He is very proud of himself and is quite determined to get Evie to go in the potty too. She gets a stern talking to from him when she poops in her diaper. lol.

Although last year was truely uneventful I'm glad that it was a good one. We are eternally grateful for the peace that we've had this past year and I can only hope that it sticks around for a good while longer. We'll see.

When I get around to it I'll post pics and put something up that's a little more up beat, but for now I just had to put something up for looks. We miss our family and friends and hope ya'll are well.

New addition

We have a few new additions to our family. The kids have been working on their responsibility and are now the proud owners of fish!

Analia's fish is a guppy and her name is Saraphina.

Kai's fish is a silver molly and his name is Link after...you guessed it Zelda!

And Duncan's fish is a black molly and her name is Sabel. The older kids picked this name.
So we got the fish last night and much to our suprise we  had three babies in the tank this morning! I don't know if they'll last but for now they have evaded the others pretty well. I hope they do so we won't have to buy anymore fish!

Halloween 2009

This Halloween wasn't my favorite...

I was stressed with school and unfortunatly didn't put much effort into our costumes. Analia insisted on being a vampire this year, so naturally we were her pet bats!

We all had "wings" at one point, but they were distroyed of course since they were basically black garbage bags. But even though I wasn't thrilled with our costumes, I think they worked out ok.

And as usual I wasn't able to get Kai in a picture by himself. He was probably "flying" around. haha

Us

Sadly, Scheddi and I are all kinds of boring, but even at that we are all kinds of happy. This is a horribly unflattering pic of us from this past 4th of July, but it's the latest one we have. I need to get on that.

Anyway, we love it here in Bryan and aside from my hideous undecorated house, we don't have too many complaints. I love our ward and I'm glad we'll be here for a few years. School is school and life is life, but it's ours and right now....I can't complain!

Analia

Analia has indeed been growing this year. Her mouth especially. She is definitly in the habit of talking back and trying to change my mind when I say no. Although it's hard for me to keep my temper with her....I try. At least I like to think I do. She definitly has more luck with her Papi though. He has more patience than me.
This year in first grade she's doing suprisingly well. She doesn't hate school like she used to and seems to get along well with the other kids to. I on the other hand am not thrilled with her school. I think they've cut down a whole rainforest to provide me with every flyer they can afford! I regret to say the teacher sends home more papers about what color shirt to wear that day than she does about what they might actually learn at school that day. I have since sent her a message saying that I would like some sort of info on her academics! She also learned something quite educational the other day. When she got home from school she asked me what a "pimp" is. I was so shocked I couldn't contain myself and started to laugh! She then proceeded to inform me that it was indeed a real word. I agreed and came up with a quick and subtle explanation of the word and told her it wasn't appropriate for her to say. She was happy with that and I still to this day get a chuckle every time I think about it. Anyway, here are some updated pics of her:

Even though I know I'm braging, I think my daughter's gorgeous! Sadly, I think I say it too much because she often responds to this compliment by saying "I know!"...oops!

Here she is at her first dentist check up, sad I know, but I was glad she only had 1 cavity and not 8 like Kai.

Here she is after she got it filled. This picture still brightens my mood when I look at it. I asked her to smile after her face was numb and I got Elvis. Haha, I love it!

Not the greatest pic, but this was her first day of First grade! I can't believe she's in first already. Her attitude is in at least 7th though. ugh!

This was her first day at the bus stop. She likes riding the bus and I like them riding to. It makes life easier even if I do have to have them out there at 6:30am!

She's growing up way to fast for me and I am begining to dread the teenage years with the attitude she has. But I still count my blessings that she's part of our family and I can't imagine us with out her.

Kai Kai

Oh my crazy lovey dovey Kai. Kai is still as lovey and rambunctious as he's always been. He loves playing his "new to him" game cube that Uncle Devan gave to him for his birthday this year. Although, if he plays too much or for to long in one day he gets emotional. I think he's definitly a sensitive little boy. He just turned five this past September and I can't believe he's getting so big. Here are a few shots of him:

His first day of Pre-k here. I was not happy that he missed the deadline for the cutoff by 1 day, but there was nothing that could be done and he ended up in pre-k again! However, he seems to like being one of the oldest and constantly reminds me that he and one other boy in his class have the same birthday and they're the oldest! He also remembers every song he learns and sings them to me when he gets  home along with telling me what he had for lunch that day.

This was one of the games he got for his birthday this year to go with the game cube. He was so happy although the pic doesn't say so.

Here he was showing off his "monkey skills" when we were at the orangutan exhibit at the Waco Zoo. He's quite strong I must say and has no problem getting around on ropes.

After a long hour or so of running up and down the hall with his siblings he needed a rest. I'm sure he was telling me some random thought, but I was just looking at my sweet boy as the adorable five year old that will
someday grow up and have a family of his own.

At Kai's first dentist appointment we found out that he had 8 cavities! So on our next trip to the dentist we got to get him druged. Here he is letting it kick in and it was quite comical for me to watch. I always say "kids are for their parents entertainment."

It's hard to believe how much he's changed this year. He's smart was a whip and just as cute with his freckles that will soon take over his face just like his mommy. He's eager to help if he can keep focused for long enough and loves to tell me random facts. His only downfall this year is that he has decided that he wants to "give Duncan to the neighbors" and as sad as it sounded, it reminded me of my own two middle siblings who have come to grow out of wanting to give one or the other away. (more or less anyway, lol) All in all he's a perfect five year old!
