Freedom Festival
On Saturday we went to Greenwood's Fourth of July celebration. They have a bunch of activities and music and delicious fair food and a great fireworks display. Penny was such a good sport. She was happy or sleeping during most of the evening. We met up with my mom and sister and brother.
It was Penelope's chance to wear her adorable patriotic dress (with matching hat of course) that my friend Candace's mom got for her. She didn't seem as excited as me about it...
But she got in a more festive mood by the time we got to my mom's house. This is due in large part to Chance serenading us with various patriotic songs for the entirity of our car ride.
Penny slept through most of us standing in line waiting for food. She knew she had to rest up for the fireworks later that evening.
My favorite thing about this kind of event is the food! And my family was sure to get a sampling of all kinds of things.
Chance and I dared to try a fried candy bar. We got a Snickers and a Milky Way and it was so good! Leave it to carnies to take an already fattening food and up the calories by deep frying it.
I waited waaaay too long in line for a corn dog...not worth it. And was pleasantly surprised at how delicious my chicken skewer from the oriental fare booth was. I know, it sounds like I sampled everything thing there. But the Greenwood Freedom Festival only comes around once a year, and i've missed the last several years. Plus i haven't even mentioned the elephant ear of which i also partook.
Fourth of July is my favorite holiday and I love a good fireworks show. I've been to a lot of good and a lot of bad, and Greenwood's fireworks get 2 thumbs up. It is set to music, which i love. I even started getting a little tearing eye'd as i'm sitting on the blanket, cuddling with my baby, watching the fireworks and her, listening to "Proud to Be an American" and thinking how blessed I am.
I want to get all the use I can out of this cute dress, so Penny wore it again to church the next day. It was her first day at church, and i thought it went pretty well. She slept most of the time. I kept waiting for her to make a scene with an erruption of toots, as she so often does at home, but she was kept it to herself until we got away from people.
Then today I tried to have a photoshoot with her in her tutu and her dazzle shoes, but she wasn't in the mood. We'll have to try again when she's feeling more photogenic.

Hanging Out with Momma
Last weekend we made the move into our new house! Yeah! We just got the internet so i've got some catching up to do. This was a LONG week. It was the first time it was just me and Penny all day everyday. We had some good days and some not so good days. Either way, we were both always excited to see Chance when he got home. I was bummed when it seemed like he had to work late most nights. I have to soak up having him home this weekend though, because he is working the next 12 days in a row...booo.
Penny made a great step this week...she has slept through the night the last 3 nights. She has slept 7 1/2, 8, and 8 1/2 hours at night the last couple days. It is awesome, but kinda freaks me out. The first time i woke up in the middle of the night and then again in the morning in a panic. But i checked on her and she was just fine...snoozing away. So we hope this is a phase that lasts awhile!
She sleeps with her mouth open most of the time.
Here are some pics from my mom's house.
PJ in her lion pj's with dad.
My cat, Olive, checking out Penny.
I can't believe how little my cat and dog care about Penny. I thought they would be all over her sniffing and trying to figure her out. But neither of them could care less about her. I'm glad because i've heard of people having trouble with pets when they bring home a new baby.

2 weeks old today
Two weeks old today and lookin good!
Here is what we've been up to this week...
Tuesday Penny's umbilical cord fell off! What a big girl she is now.
Chance went back to work on Tuesday (boo). And my dad and siblings all left for a week long fishing trip, so it has just been us girls around the house (me, penny, and mom). And mom has spent most of her time over at my house working, so it has been just momma and baby a lot.
We've taken a couple trips over to our new house. We are doing lots of work on it before we move in. Last weekend we put new wood laminate flooring in the downstairs, and today we are getting new carpet upstairs. Next week we are getting a fence installed in the backyard. I try to plan our trips to the house during a long nap. Often she'll sleep three or four hours so we can get over there, get some work done, and get back before Penny wakes up.
Penny's room at the new house is going to look so cute. I'll take pictures the next time we are over there. It is going to be pink and green. We painted the top of the walls green and the bottoms cream and Chance is installing a white chair rail. Most of the rest of the house is getting painted too...lots of changes!

Home Sweet Home
Chillin with Grandma
A rare eyes wide open moment!
Penny's First Sponge Bath, which she did not enjoy
We got her undressed and Chance was holding her while I washed her. I said, "why don't you let her kind of sit in your hand?" As soon as he sat her bare bum in his hand, she pooped right in his hand! He's such a good sport.
With Chance's sister Mollie
Her cousin Noah
Noah and Eli
She LOVES her Bouncer! She has yet to sleep in her bassinet, but loves sleeping in her big cozy chair. Aren't her bunny ears so funny?!
