Have you ever dreamed you could just go through your house and get rid of everything except the bare necessities? Have nothing on your countertops, neat and tidy drawers, an almost empty garage.
I do. I day dream about it all the time.
Could I live just fine with two pairs of pants a few shirts, ONE pair of pajamas? Do I need five mixing spoons, five mixing bowls, twenty-five cutting knives, etc etc...? The answer is no. But how do you get rid of stuff that is GOOD STUFF? And how do you prevent your husband from freaking out when you give away three pairs of ugly shoes he bought on his mission?
Think of all the time you'd save cleaning and emptying a dishwasher if you just hand washed the 4 cups, bowls, plates you used? How many less loads of laundry if you and your kids had only a few sets of clothes. How many less toys to clean up at the end of the day. How many less cupboards and bins filled with junk that you probably only use once a year?
These are the things I think about when I sit and stare at my house.

Turkey Day
Yes, I'm slacking on the blogging I'm aware. But I have good excuses.
Flus. Holidays. Colds.
Lots of fun, and lots of not fun.
For Thanksgiving weekend we first visited Phil's brother Tyler and his fam in Eagle Mountain and then spent the rest of the time with my family in Farmington. Two of my older sisters and their families were there as well as my parents who flew up from Cali to be with us all.
We decided to start a new tradition of holding our family Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving, knowing that our families are all getting older and we'll start wanting to have Christmas in our own homes. So we exchanged gifts and wore Christmas jammies and did that whole bit, and it was really fun. My big sister Kristen is amazing and hosts it all and lets the kids just run down her home without blinking an eye.
The food was great too. We opted out of the turkey this year and my dad made dutch oven ribs and bbqd trip tip with my sisters amazing rolls and pies. Ya I'm not exactly the best at any of those things so I provided the pickles and olives and stuffing LOL! I'm so lame. Oh and I lied, my dad couldn't NOT have turkey on Thanksgiving so he also bbqd a large turkey breast for anyone who wanted some :)
The downer of the event was that the flu hit us and slowly trickled through the family until just about everyone had it. It wasn't a nice flu. Violent both ends flu, but at least it only lasted 24 hours. It took a few days to get energy back though after and then me and the boys came down with colds immediately after. Lucky Phil has stayed healthy through it all. I don't think it's luck though. He needs to be healthy for his finals and so the Lord is watching over him!
There are 9 more days of school this semester and then we are off on our winter adventures. Phil's sister Jessica will be getting married in Salt Lake and then we are spending some much needed relax time at a resort. Then we will make the long drive to Washington to spend Christmas with Phil's whole family. It will be one loud, rambunctious home!
Can't wait!
And I will try to get pictures of Phil and I this holiday!

Hallows Eve
This Halloween we were lucky enough to spend the entire weekend with my sisters in Utah. I've always wanted my kids to be able to dress up and go trick-or-treating with their cousins!
Bruin and Crew were Captain Hook and Peter Pan this year.
Occasionally people thought Crew was Robin Hood, but that's ok.
We set up a little Halloween party for them with games and a silly halloween lunch.
Hooray for Halloween!

Funny Fun Farm
Our sweet friends, Kolbi and Lexi, treated us to a fun day out at their family farm.
They had an old friendly horse to ride and feed, 4 wheelers to cruise around in, cows, buffaloes, a trampoline, a garden, a dog... everything that little boys love!
I was surprised how brave Bruin was with the horse. He wanted to ride and lead that horse everywhere. I think we have a cowboy on our hands. Crew just wanted to keep feeding him.
Kolbi and Lexi were so sweet with the boys. They picked them carrots from the garden, jumped with them on the trampoline, and gave them the time of their lives :) We love them! Lexi is Bruin's nursery leader and he couldn't be happier
I loved every bit of it too. I so want to live in the country on a little farm someday! Makes me sad that we won't be out of school for 9 years, BUT maybe we can find a little farm house to live in through school?

Under Arrest
Crafty, I am not. In fact when friends ask me if I want to come do crafts with them I slightly cringe inside, Why? I am not sure. Perhaps because I am SO NOT a perfectionist that when I'm working on a craft and kind of mess up, I just say oh well and keep going... Then when its all finished it looks nothing like I pictured in my head, and I'm disappointed and swear to never do a craft again.
WELL... I joined Pinterest. And if you are a Pinterest groupie, you understand that by merely pinning amazing craft ideas, you start to think you are a crafty and productive person... even if you sat on your butt pinning the whole naptime..
SO I got the creative bug. And decided to spray paint. Something I have never done before.
And here is my final product. Cosmetically flawed and all. I think its pretty cool. And so do my boys. Bruin catches all the bad guys in it. Woot Woot!

The pink/purple Little Tikes buggy was given to us by our last landlord who was bringing it to the Goodwill. I've never been too gender conscious with my boys stuff so I didn't care and it became the favorite little car (well until we bought Bruin a plasma scooter, but its still number 2).
Next victim: Our red and yellow Dora bike (also from the landlord)...

Island Park and Yellowstone
My sister Kristen invited us to go with her to her husband's family cabin in Island Park. Kristen and Bryan were great hosts and us and the kids had lots of fun! My sister April and her family were able to come too so there were lots of little boys running around!

On Sunday we all decided to make a long trip through Yellowstone National Park, which was pretty, but we all kinda wondered if it was worth it at the end of the day! Lots of driving.

Bruin was VERY nervous about Old Faithful Erupting. He was convinced it was gonna be loud and hurt his ears. Infact, he was so nervous about it that he couldn't handle the anticipation and his stomach got sick and he NEEDED to go the bathroom RIGHT NOW. Luckily Old Faithful shot up right as we got to the bathrooms so I was still able to see it.

Below: This is the exact moment Bruin lost his shoe into the river. Blow up the pic. You'll see how distraught he was... Phil had to fetch it out down the river and sacrifice his pants in the process. He wished he would've stripped to the nude he said later.

As you can tell, Bruin is my sensitive child :)

BYU

Phil has been having fun going to BYU Cougar games. He flew out with all my brother-in-laws and dad to the game in Texas and caught the Utah State game in Provo Conference weekend. Since we don't have any tv in our house he has gotten a little creative in trying to watch the other ones. One weekend we ate out at a restaurant and made them turn the channel so he could watch. I even left him there when we were all done and took the boys to look at pumpkins across the street :) Another game he knocked on our neighbors door and asked to watch with them LOL. So even though the Cougars haven't had the greatest season, Phil is a true fan and bleeds blue.

In the Burg
Guess what? We got a new computer. Woot Woot! So now I supposed I will blog again. My pics will be emailed from my phone until I find my dinky camera though, so some poor quality photos to follow!

The past few weeks have been awesome. The weather, amazing. I get to see Phil. My kids live in a safe place, where we can accidentally leave our garage door open and come home 3 days later with nothing stolen from our house. (yikes!) Grandma Sycamore bread is plumping up my recently slimmed down figure though, and the cold weather is slowly coming upon us.
Bruin is in preschool and he LOVES it! He cried a lot the first few times going but now he looks forward to it and talks my ear off about everything he did when I pick him up.
Phil's sisters that live here have been fun. Brittney was certifying to do eyelash extensions so she did some for me and they are sweet! If you are near Idaho Falls call her up!
Jessica and Brianna are hard working at school but still take the time to go to a girls night out with me now and then :) and Jessica even took us hottubbing at her apartment complex last night. We also went to the zoo here with Phil's cousin Kasey, which was actually a pretty decent zoo for a small town.

Phil has been playing intramural football and discovering how old his body now is. Poor guy. Doesn't want to grow up and get an old man body. Too many aches and pains come after the fun times!
Me, I've just been scouting out the town, finding good parks and fun things to do. I've made a few friends but am still missing my girls in Clovis! Every Thursday night I sigh as I think of the Girls Night Outs I am missing!
Last weekend we went down to Utah and spent Conference weekend at my sister Kristen's house.
We also got to visit some of Phil's family near Lehi and went to a big Halloween fun place called Cornbellys with our friends the Barneys.

Utah has a lot of people we love there right now so we are happy to live so close!
Of course, we didn't catch all that much of Saturday Conference but I will enjoy reading the talks before bed every night to come.
Speaking of church, we still haven't made a final decision on which ward we are going to. We are allowed to decide between the family ward or the student ward, since Phil is a student. The family ward is huge and loud and older, with TONS of kids and all the programs that come with a family ward. The student ward is a lot of newly weds with some babies, its quiet, its active with lots of fun activities, and people living the same student life as us. The thing drawing me most to the student ward is the fact the Bruin and Crew will have a nice, tiny nursery where there are literally 4 kids in nursery. When Bruin starts Sunbeams in January they will be combining Primary with the other student ward so that they will have 3 Sunbeams, thats it for the entire Primary LOL! Bruin does WAY better in that kind of setting, rather than the chaos. Anyways, we have been going to both wards and can't seem to decide. Any input?
That's it for now!
Me and My Library
I decided to revamp my book blog that I hadn't posted on in about a year, and made it into a book suggestions blog. I love, love, love reading and while Phil was gone traveling for work the past 3 years, I did A LOT of it. I seriously cannot even remember all the books I have read and it will take some serious brain work to recall them.
However, I am dedicated to giving my fellow readers some book suggestions once a week on my blog. I loathe taking a shot in the dark trying to find a good book without anyone's suggestions in hand. Therefore, I will only be posting the ones I really liked! I have read many mediocre books and a few terrible books I just couldn't get myself to actually finish.. (ok maybe I would skip to the end just to see how the terrible plot worked out) and I will give you none of those.
Except perhaps a warning here or there on a hyped up book that ended up being awfully boring or offensive (such as Cutting for Stone).
I hope this can be a resource for you in your book search! Tell your friends and fellows and come on over to ME AND MY LIBRARY

RIP
No, we did not die. Our computer did. And since I can't upload pics from my phone onto this Blogger for some reason, I find blogging terribly boring and therefore have not done it for 2 months.
However, we will be getting a new computer next week and thus will be jumping back on the blog train.
BUT.. We do have some pretty big changes that have happened the past few weeks so I'll give a quick recap.
We've Moved to Rexburg! ... Phil decided a little more school wouldn't hurt him. And when I say little, I actually mean 10 more years. Ha! We'd like to apply to med-school next fall so we've moved from the land of forever summer to the land of forever winter to complete some prerequisites and to take the MCAT. So here we go! I will post some pics of the new place and what we've been up to once I've got a computer, but until then know we are happy to be living so close to our families and being able to spend more time together. (Phil was living and working out of town 75% of the time although I could never blog about it because I didn't want the blog stalking creepers who may watch my blog to know I was home alone every night). So back to poor college student life + 2, but we're together so we're happy!

Cousin Craze
I am alive and well! IUD is out. They started with a hysteroscopy which failed and turned into laproscopy, so they cut through my belly button and also made an incision near the pubic bone. Recovery was awful for a few days after. I seriously felt like I was living in a hazy, sleepy zombie state. I couldn't even pick up Crew. As I was starting to feel better and weening myself off of the painkillers, I started to have awful abdominal pain on the opposite side of where the IUD had been located (which by the way they found it in the omentum, like the outer stomach lining). For two days I was worried, until one night as I was trying to fall asleep, it all came to me.
Lots of Vicodin = Much less time spent in the bathroom, if you know what I mean.
Oh the relief of knowing the source of pain! I got right up, rummaged through the pantry and found some of Crew's PRUNE baby food.... plugged my nose and slurped it down. I ate Raisin Bran all the next morning and popped some DocQlace and viola, problem solved! Happy for me? I bet.
Luckily through it all, my sister Kristen was here to visit with her kids and her and my mom helped me out with my kids. Thanks to my mom for getting in her bathing suit to swim with my kiddos every other day the last week and a half, since I can't until my stitches dissolve. We feel peace that it's out and now just have to deal with serving court papers.
As I mentioned my sister Kristen came into town, but also my other sister April came too a week later! Bruin is in COUSIN HEAVEN. He loves his cousins. We've done lots of fun stuff. Boating, carnival rides, swimming, splash parks, junk food galore...
I love my sisters.

Surgery
Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers.
Tomorrow, July 5th, I am scheduled to go under for laparoscopic surgery for the IUD removal. Although we will have to pay my $5,000 deductible, we are hoping to start the process of a small claims court case immediately after. If anyone has any suggestions, advice, or contacts dealing with small claims or medical malpractice, let us know!
I am very confident in the surgeon performing on me so I am not too nervous. I only hope they don't find any further damage inside.
I want to try and get someone to video tape me coming out of anesthesia because I think it would be hilarious later. I once saw a video of Phil's cousin coming out of sedation from her wisdom teeth extraction and about peed my pants. (sorry Chelsea!) I just hope I don't hyperventilate like I did when I got MY wisdom teeth pulled.
In other news around here... Can't wait for the fireworks tonight. Bruin is SO excited. We are melting in our 105 degree weather and have tried to stay immersed in water as much as possible. We have LOVED having a 4 day weekend with Phil around though and are enjoying ever minute with dad!
HAPPY 4th of JULY! Hope you have great BBQs and take a minute to appreciate the freedoms of our country.

Update
Many of you have asked me for an update on my IUD situation.
We have been working with the organization that is responsible for the insertion, trying to get them to take responsibility and pay for the removal (being that it will cost upwards of $10,000). So far they have denied responsibility and sent us on a wild goose chase with doctor after doctor and insurance authorizations, etc. It has been 4 months since it was discovered to be MIA in the attempted removal and we have yet to get it out.
I had been experiencing pain, especially while working out, so I dropped my workout and upped my prayers.
Today is an important day for us because I have two important doctors appointments. One, the doctor will try to remove it using a device and ultrasound and try to pull it back through if there is any left poking into my uterus. The
other appointment is a meeting with a different doctor at a clinic that claims they may be able to file some claim that if accepted, will pay for the laproscopic surgery.
So PLEASE, if you are reading this, we would love if you would stop and say a quick prayer for us that a miracle will happen today. This all began by the way, with a nagging voice in my head telling me to get it removed. I ignored it over and over because I had just had the IUD put in 6 months before and it was EXPENSIVE and is meant to be a long term (5-years) birth control. I kept having the feeling though and I thought it meant we were supposed to have more kids sooner than expected. Thus the internal fight. No more kids for this mommy for awhile. I am not a supermom and moms of three Pre-K kids must have superpowers in my eyes. BUT I couldn't ignore it anymore so I went in to have it removed. The nurses were actually mad at me and scolding me for getting it removed so soon and all I could tell them was that I felt God was telling me to take it out. Well what do you know, they felt a little sheepish I'm sure when they couldn't find it.
Anyways, I know the Lord spoke to me and I am so glad I finally listened because who knows how long it would've been poking around my insides before I found out. Likely I would have got pregnant and that would have been a bigger problem.
There you go. There's the gist of my story now. I will keep you posted with any news for those who care!

MIA IUD... WTH?
Have you ever lost something and spent MONTHS looking for it? I have. And alas, it is found. Although what to do next, we have yet to find out...

No, that is not an anchor in my side. It is an IUD.
If you're not familiar, it SHOULD look like this in my body

Yeah, I think the nurse needs more practice putting them in...

Roseola.. not so rosey
Crew has been out for the count for the last two weeks because he came down with Roseola and then a cold. Poor guy.

He is such a cutie though. And today he is all better and what perfect timing because it is his 1st birthday today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY little one! You are darling and hilarious and we love having you in our family!

Jolley Cousins
My sister April came to visit with her two little boys and husband Devin. Seriously, this month couldn't have gotten any better for Bruin.. (and me!). He woke up every morning and asked what we were doing today and when we were going to grandma and grandpa's house.
We spent lots of time together playing ball, going to parks, feeding ducks, feeding goats, riding 4-wheelers, eating popsicles... a great time! Both our boys are the around the same age so it worked out perfectly. Gavin and Bruin even got on the news with Grandpa when they took the train to Hanford for ice cream! Check it out!

Gavin must have told Bruin he was coming back when he left to Seattle cuz Bruin probably tells me once a day that Gavin is coming back, "he said so." We hope so
Happy Anniversary

It was our 5 year anniversary on April 22nd. We got to celebrate with my sister April who came into town with her family.
Again, my parents came to the rescue and watched all the kids while we got to go on a double-date with my sister April and her husband Devin. First we went and hit balls at the batting-cages. I think our husbands fell in love with us all over again cuz we were so awesome at it... Although we may have screamed in terror once or twice in the 65mph baseball cage. Then we headed over to Cheesecake Factory and grubbed out. We finished the night off with some games and then fell asleep watching Iron Man. It was a wonderful Anniversary, our -style.
25? 26?!!
Every time someone asks me how old I am I seriously am not sure. I always have to do the math from my birth date. This year I can scarcely believe I am 26. It sounds so old! I love it actually. I just am shocked every time I tell someone.
This year for my birthday we had an ORANGE theme, since my favorite color lately is orange. We all dressed in orange and ate orange food all day. It was delicious and fun! The last two years it has fallen on Conference weekend, which is somewhat unfortunate cuz we just stay home all day, but at least my sister was in town to celebrate it with me!

I got some awesome gifts, if I must tell you ;)
My parents got me a nice food processor that I wanted and my sister Kristen got me Jilian Michaels 30 Day Shred (with the weights).. I am on day 3 of the video and am very much sore. Bruin likes to do it with me but gets frustrated that he can't figure out how to do a jumping jack (who knew it was so complex?..) and Crew rushes over to me everytime I lay on the floor to do abs and crawls all over me. I just consider it extra weight and carry on, except the one time he puked on me.
Phil let me go guilt free shopping and I got a bathing suit and some make-up so I can rock my hot new skinny body in 30 Days!! (fingers crossed and a wink-wink)

Christensen Cousins
So much has happened in the last month that I was just feeling too overwhelmed to blog it all. Thanks to Phil for taking Bruin on a little father-son outing, I have a little extra time to catch up.
First event of the month was my sister Kristen coming, with her family of three boys and one beautiful little girl. Bruin had so much fun with his cousins. They played in Grandma and Grandpa's backyard from dawn to dusk, building tree-houses, planting gardens, 4-wheelin, racing cars, roasting marshmallows... a boy's dream come true, really.

Phil and I got to go out on a date with Kristen and Bryan and leave the kiddos behind with their wonderful grandparents! We saw I Am Number 4 and got some Coldstone.
Kristen also took some awesome family pictures for us. I don't know what we would do if we didn't have her! She is so awesome! Here are just a few

Another highlight of the week was a fun hike we went on, which the last time I did I was 9 months pregnant and about to die. This time was much more enjoyable!

So fun to have my sisters visit but it makes me so sad every time they leave. Hope to see them again soon!
