Great Treats

Yesterday was a great day and I'll tell you why.
1) Phil was home all day and Bruin got to spend lots of time with his dad
2) A friend from the ward brought me over some lunch AND the new Twilight book- Breaking Dawn. It was the best act of service anyone could do for me! I'm only allowing myself to read it at feedings to pace myself. So far it's great!
3) We went to Chipotle with some friends last night and one of the girls we were with mentioned that if you had your hospital band the restaurant would give you a free meal to congratulate a new baby. We didn't have the hospital bands on but we just asked them for it and turns out they gave us all free meals, whatever we wanted! It was awesome. The owner was around and we made sure to thank him and tell him how thoughtful that was of him to do stuff like that.

Anyways, just thought I'd share my great day! Today Bruin and I are sick with a cold :( 9 months without getting sick once and now mother nature feels like it owes me :) At least I have Breaking Dawn and yummy leftover Chipotle to get me through the day!

Too Many Pills

Bruin and I have had a traumatic past few days. Yesterday morning Bruin had his "baby boy" surgery. I opted to wait in the waiting room instead of watch because I had already almost cried twice just getting him undressed for it! I think he knew what was coming cuz when they came in to get him he began making a nasty in his diaper. We had to wait til he was done and changed for them to finally take him. When I came in to get him after the procedure he was crying and there was puke all next to him, it was the saddest moment of my mommy life. So I spent the rest of the day holding him and very carefully changing diapers.
At around 6pm I was feeling exhausted and decided to take a nap while Phil watched him. I had the chills and sweats the entire time and didn't know what was wrong. When I got up I was wasted so I took my temperature and it was 102.5 Turns out I have mastitis, an infection from nursing, which feels like a bad flu. On top of that I hadn't been taking the iron supplements my doctor prescribed for my low hemoglobin count so I had no energy. Thank goodness for moms in times like these. My mom came over and stayed up all night with Bruin while I tossed and turned in bed, sweating then freezing then sweating. I had to wait until 10:30 this morning to see my doctor and get antibiotics but I am finally feeling better. So along with my Darvocet and Ibuprofen for pain, I'm taking iron pills, antibiotics, stool softeners, and prenatals. My mom and I sat down tonight and planned out a time schedule to take them all because of all the restrictions with certain foods, etc. So that's whats going on in our lives right now! hah! Hopefully the worst is over and mommy and son will be happy and healthy soon

We put lip gloss on him.. just kidding, its baby Tylenol. So cute!

Sun bathing in front of the window to help with the little jaundice he had

My new friend "The Electric Pump"... it helps me clear up the mastitis but makes me feel like a cow!!

Motherhood Initiation

So yesterday, all in about an hour, I blocked a pee stream while changing a diaper, got spit up down my chest, and got a lap full of warm wetness... I just had to laugh cuz I knew Bruin was initiating me into motherhood. Things are going well though here. Bruin is a good sleeper and has a VERY hearty appetite. Right now he's relaxing in the sun from the window cuz he had a little bit of jaundice when we went to the pediatrician. He also got his hepatitis B shot and that was so sad!

I can't believe how much my life has changed from this little guy and I love it! Phil and I are just constantly entertained by all the funny faces he makes in his sleep and just the gentle, sweet spirit a newborn brings. My mom and sisters have been a lot of support for me and I'm always calling them with questions and asking their opinion on things. They are all great mommies and I look up to them a lot. Today my mom is coming over and we're gonna make banana bread. mmmm! Life is good in the Casper home.

Bruin Bradley Casper

He's here and so perfect! Our little angel was born Saturday night at 7:22pm after 6 hours of active labor and 1 hour of pushing. He's just a little guy at 6lbs 12oz and 19 1/2 inches long. He sure didn't seem small during the labor though... Woowee, what an experience that was! Although I got the epidural part way through, it was definitely not painless, that's all I'll say! We're now back at home and enjoying our new little one. Sorry if the blogs are short but I'll try to get on any "extra" minute to post. Here are some pics posted by Phil!

Holly loves her epidural, at first..

Mom meets Bruin as soon as he pops out.

We soon understand why he looked like the scream mask in one of his ultrasounds, he likes to open his mouth.

Now at home me and Bruin like to relax and hang out together

I caught the last half of a smile. I posted so much mainly for Grandma and Grandpa Casper and any others that may be interested, so sorry if this stuff was totally boring to you, I've been there.

He's Coming Soon..

Well today is the day we were hoping to meet our little guy but so far nothing is happening. Phil is scheduled to leave out of town again for work on Monday through Wednesday so the doctor stripped my membranes Wednesday hoping to get things moving. Besides some stronger contractions nothing has sent me to the hospital, SO my doctor scheduled an induction for me Saturday morning at 6am! That way Phil will for sure be there for it. I am so excited and happy to be able KNOW its going to happen tomorrow so I'm all prepared. Our friends the Barneys are coming tonight on their move to Fullerton and we hope they get here early in the evening so we can spend some fun time with them! We were hoping they'd get to meet baby but oh well! Well... wish us luck for the big day tomorrow!

Grizzlies

Last night Phil and I went to a Fresno Grizzlies baseball game and it was a lot of fun! The game was really close and went into the 11th inning! We bought this great package where we got 2 Grizzlies tickets, 2 hot dogs, 2 sodas, and 2 tickets to the Fresno Island water park all for a total of $14.00. We're hoping to use the Island Water Park tickets later this week, unless our little buddy decides to finally come meet us. Right now I am trying NOT to go into labor because Phil had to leave town on a job until Wednesday night so I've put myself on bedrest, watching Baby Story and Bringing Home Baby episodes all day :)

Our apartment

I've been focusing on one room at a time to organize and decorate as we've moved into our apartment. This is my first finished room and I had so much fun shopping on craigslist and around town to put it all together! I'm posting these pictures mainly cuz Joy keeps asking me too but also because I'm proud of my nesting :) I'll post more pictures as I finish other rooms... The kitchen and baby's room are next!

toilet monster

So the apartment we moved into had some issues with the toilet that had never been resolved. We knew the tenants before us and they told us they had been trying to figure out why it would leak. So we started having issues with it a few days in and had the maintenance come to figure it out. Well when they took the toilet out this is what they found! A bunch of tree roots had started growing up around the toilet plumbing causing it to clog. The guy had never seen anything like it before. They ended up sending a camera with a shredder thing down and then pulling out the plants next to the apartment. Yuck yuck yuck! But we're so glad they figured it out and fixed it right away!
