A couple of weeks ago my best friend and took a little weekend trip to one of our favorite places, Disneyland! Melissa and I have been friends for 15 years now. We have been through so much together...the good, the bad, and the ugly.-Through it all this girl has been my best friend and always been there for me. She is the most thoughtful person I know and has the biggest heart. I could go on and on about her, because she really is so amazing. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful friend in my life!
We decided that being friends for 15 years called for a celebration and thus came about the idea of going to Disneyland.-Best idea ever!
First off, I owe Chad big time for making this whole trip possible and for being husband of the year by staying home from work to watch the kids so that I could play for the weekend! Thank you Chadley! You're the best!
Ok, now back to the trip. Flying to California I discovered that I get super motion sick when I fly. Which seems absolutely ridiculous to me because before I had kids I never did. So weird and so not fun! This made both flights seem incredibly long and tortuous even though it was only an hour and a half flight. Pretty pathetic. Needless so say I was very happy when I landed at the Long Beach Airport. Since we both were flying from different states we ended up flying into different airports. Melissa rented a car and picked me up. We could hardly contain our excitement that this trip was actually happening. We drove to our hotel and then walked a few blocks to Subway for dinner. We stayed up late chatting and catching up, which was really one of my favorite parts of the whole trip.
The next morning we woke up and after eating our continental breakfast we walked down the road to the Disneyland park entrance. The funniest part of the day was that on our very first ride, on Soarin' over California, the ride stopped about one minute into it and we had leave. We then tried to go on the new Toy Story ride later and after waiting in line about 10 or 15 minutes they closed that ride too! Talk about bad luck! My favorite part of our first day was getting to see the World of Color show in California Adventure. Seriously it's amazing! Leave it to Disney to do something incredible like that. Loved it!
Day two we got to check out Cars Land and ride the racers ride. Such a fun and cute ride! We were able to go on tons of rides and topped it off with the Disneyland fireworks.
This was my first time being away from my kids for more than one night and so I missed them like crazy. I kept seeing things that Carson or Brooklyn would love and thinking how much they would love it. I'll admit I got teary eyed several times at the park just seeing other kids the same age as mine. I can't wait to take a trip with Chad and the kids as a family!
The whole trip was seriously such a blast! We played hard and tried to soak in every Disney moment we could. It really couldn't have been any better!
These pictures are a bit out of order, but be prepared for picture overload.
World of Color show.
End of day one playing in the gigantic Disney Store in Downtown Disney.
We finally were able to go to Cars Land and ride on the Racers ride. It was the cutest ride ever! The wait time varied anywhere from 60 to 180 minutes! Crazy! Luckily we went there very first thing in the morning and rode as single riders and only waited 10 minutes! Totally worth it!
Loved all the Cars characters!
Us getting our picture taken with Red.
Radiator Springs behind us. It really made you feel like you were in the movie. Too cute!
California Adventure pier.
Melissa and I made a deal that if she went on the Tower of Terror with me, I would go on Star Tours with her. (Yes, I'm a baby and get motion sick on Star Tours...it's ridiculous!)
Melissa decided that the Tower of Terror wasn't so bad afterall :)
Riding the Screamer. Also one of my favorite rides.
Main Street of Disneyland was decorated so cute for Halloween! Tons, and tons of pumpkins!
Playing in Toon Town for a few minutes. I'm sure it's much funner with kids.
Disclaimer: We asked one of the Disney employees to take our picture in front of the castle and he was so funny. He wanted us to get the best picture. He several times told people to move because they were in our picture and made us do several CHEESY poses.-Hence the reason for all the cheesy poses in front of the castle. :)
This picture above is such a cheesy pose and reminds me of high school dances! haha
Driving our car on the Autopia ride.
So sad this picture is blury, but it is of Pluto holding hands with Melissa. We had just come out of the bathroom and all of the sudden someone came up behind us and scared us.-It was Pluto!
When Lightning MQueen rolls through Radiator Springs he's like a celebrity.
We made friends with these two ladies, who are also best friends, on the Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Small World
Melissa and I had been wondering how they know how long the wait times are. Soon after we found out how they do it I was chosen to hold the wait time ticket thing. I felt so cool!
Radiator Springs all lit up at night.
This purse literally died on this trip. I brought it just to take to Disneyland cause I didn't want to take one of my bigger purses and I knew it was older so if something happened to it I wouldn't really care. It was starting to crack a bit when I took it, but over the course of two days at Disneyland it fell apart and earned it's nickname of ratty tatty. This probably happened because it got wet on a several rides, was constantly being smashed into some spot under the seat of a ride or things like that. But it served its purpose and at the end of the trip I threw it away. Made for lots of laughs though!
Thanks to Melissa for going on this trip with me and to Chad for making this trip possible!
