Tickled Pink Scrapbooking Kit Preview

No, this is not a scrapbooking page but that will come later- I wanted to tease you with a preview of the Tickled Pink Scrapbooking kit that will be available starting April 15 for National Scrapbooking Month in May!!
These two cards are part of a series that I have created with the leftover material from my kit (wait till you see the rest).
The card on the left is made with a pattern out of Originals and the paper from Tickled Pink. The crocus was made by folding up a Just Blooms Big Pink flower and adding a Pretty Pin wrapped in Sassy strands for the stem.
The card on the right is just stamping - but it is my favourite!! I first stamped the large pink flower with Blush ink and then clear embossed over the image. This allowed me to stamp over the image with the smaller flowers (I just wiped off excess ink). It created the illusion of depth without the work of masking. Over top of the whole card is a transparency- on this I stamped the sentiment with black staz-on ink. I then added the while flower brad that is part of the accessories in the Tickled Pink kit. The brad holds the transparency onto the card AND adds a great flower center!!

Creative Card Center- a wonderful gift!

This week I was lucky enough to be off for the March Break- and what a lovely week it was. With nice warm temperatures many people were quick to get outdoors (and we were certainly among that group!!). Even though it was lovely out- I could not resist the pull of the scrapbook studio and all the fun things that I could be creating with my extra time!! Downstairs I went and decided to recreate a card center that was shown in the most recent copy of Canadian Scrapbooker magazine. My efforts are shown above and below- I love what I created (and again- except for the large piece of cardstock that I needed to create the center itself- all of the paper in this project was in that proverbial scrap pile!!)
If you would like to create a card center of your own you will find the directions on Canadian Scrapbooker- their website as well as the magazine itself. This cute project would made a lovely addition to your mother's day gift or a great gift to self!!
www.canadianscrapbooker.ca - from the main home page click on a scrapbooker's gift (scroll down on the main page to find this link)- when you are on the gift page the directions for the card center are about half way down the page. Happy creating!!

The finished center- complete with three cards, three notecards and 3 tags!

'You Rock' Card

Want to make this super-cute but rockin' card- mine was for a birthday but it could be for just about any occassion.
First round the corners of your card base with your corner rounder- cut a piece of black cardstock a half inch smaller than your card size and round the corners of that piece as well. Adhere the black CS to the card base. For my accents I used leftovers (from the great scrap pile I have) of my Notebook Paper Pack and stickease. The Blue dotted accent piece was part of a border stickease that I cut to size. The Rock On accent is actually colonial white ribbon that I stamped using hollyhock ink and one of the phrases from the You Rock stamp set. The center accent is a piece of Notebook paper cut out and matted on a piece of hollyhock CS- I then stamped my phrase onto that accent.
The final piece was the flying heart (and personally this is my favourite part of the card!!). To create this I embossed the image on colonial white CS with black embossing powder- this allows the image to really POP. Then I used my blending pen and some ink from the lid of my hollyhock stamp pad to shade in the heart. After that I cut the image out using my micro-tip scissors.
If you come up with any variations of this card and would like to share please email me your pictures at braemontgomery@myctmh.com. If you are interested in any of the product listed in the creation of this card visit my website for online shopping http://braemontgomery.myctmh.com.

What have you done with your SCRAPS lately??

Good Times Scraps- Before

Well if you are like me- not a whole lot!! Usually these extra bits of paper packs and stickers get relinquished to the scrap basket - never to be seen again- duh, duh, duhhh!!!!

This week I challenged myself to use these scraps in new ways to create some super-cute cards and bookmarks. The first thing I did was organize my scraps- I sorted them into their original packs and placed these in a bag with the stickers that I had leftover from those same paperpacks (if I had only left them that way to begin with!).

Then I grabbed a bag and decided I would create with it until I could create no more- AND I could not pull any other paper from any full sheets- this meant that even my card bases had to be found within the scrap bag. I also decided not to use any stamping - I had a lot of stickers left and really wanted to use them up and get my moneys worth!!

Good Times Scraps- After!!

Create a card with Glitter Embossing

For this project you will need the following supplies: paper of your choice, stamp set of your choice (I used the Celebration set that you can earn free this month!), clear embossing powder, embossing gun, prisma glitter, versamark, stamp pad in coordinating colour, edge disterssor, 3D foam squares and ribbon.
First cut out your pieces according to your pattern - I used the Originals pattern Center Charms for this card! Edge distress all of the pieces of your card.

Next, take your two pieces for the center background- using the versamark ink, random stamp a stamped image on these, then add a mixture of glitter and clear embossing powder- mix this in one of our accessory jars and you will be able to reuse any leftovers on future projects!

Try to do this step as quickly as possible as you do not want the versamark to dry before you add your glitter mix. If you have the glitter tray you can work over that surface and collect any excess powder when you are finished.

Now you are ready to heat emboss your two background pieces. Hold your heat gun about an inch or two from your project and concentrate the heat on one of the images you wish to emboss. You will notice the image change as it embosses.

Stamp your choice of image onto the center piece of paper- do not be afraid to stamp off the center piece with the part of the image that you will later 'pop-up'.

Stamp the main part of your image that you would like to glitter emboss on cardstock, re-stamp the image in versamark and glitter emboss as you did above. Cut out the image and add 3D foam squares under them when you place them of your card. Add your ribbon accent and you are finished! See below for finished card.

How to Chalk Pop!

This lovely card was created using the Key to my Heart Paper and stamp set (the special for January). The phrase is just stamped but the heart is created using chalk popping. For this technique you will need the new spring chalks, a versamark stamp pad and a cheap cotton swab.

Place the image you want to chalk pop on your block and stamp it into the versamark stamp pad. Place the stamp on the piece of paper you wish to use (just like with a regular stamped image).

Quickly take the cotton swab and place it in the chalk colour of your choice (for this project I used tulip). Rub the cotton swab over the versamark image - for this project I applied more to one side and lightened the colour as I moved along to the opposite side. Then you are ready to assemble your project!
