Maliya turns 5

The end of April my adorable little girl turned 5 years old. She's just getting cuter by the day!

Spring Happenings #1

Got a little catching up to do again---

Back in April I got to have another girls weekend with my mom and sisters. We attended BYU Women's Conference this time. It was a very uplifting and edifying couple of days and was so much fun to hang out with just the girls!

This same weekend just happened to be the day of our Color Me Rad 5K we signed up for at UVU. We had a blast and might have to make this a yearly tradition from now on! Ryan ended up not being able to come down and join us so I had to go solo with my sisters and their husbands. Check out our before and after pictures! We started out clean and white then color stations throughout the course sprayed and showered us with colored cornstarch and the end was one big color party!

My {35} List-

I recently saw a fun idea on my friend Amy's blog- she made a list of 35 things she wanted to do before she turned 35 and has been sharing her completed ones as she crosses them off. I loved the idea and decided to make my own list. First of all, I can't believe I only have 3 1/2 years until I'm 35!!! Am I really that close to 35? Crazy! I still feel like I'm only 25 or so. Our new additions

Meet...........
Larietta, Pip, Feathers, Sparkles, and Red
our baby chicks!
Not quite sure what I'm thinking, but we now own five baby chicks!
The kids talked us into it and they were too cute to pass up, I guess.
Caden and Maliya chose the different colored smaller Bantum ones,
and the other three will give us eggs.
We'll see how it goes- they are already changing, growing so fast,
and getting tougher to hold only after 2 1/2 weeks.
We'll keep you posted- wish us luck!

Taste a Rainbow

We had a lot of fun with St. Patricks Day yesterday! Some leprechaun's sprinkled "luck bucks" and chocolate "gold" all over the kids room, we had a green breakfast, ate lemon jigglers "gold" with dinner, and enjoyed rainbow cupcakes for a treat. The cupcakes turned out awesome and were a hit! They were a little tedious to make but worth it in the end. Because they were so awesome I thought I would share the recipe. [I found it at familyfun.com and yes it seems like tons of food coloring, but it makes the colors really bold resulting in an awesome rainbow cupcake!!]

Taste a Rainbow

Ingredients

  • White cake mix (we used an 18-1/4-ounce box)
  • Food coloring (red, blue, green, and yellow)
  • Baking cups
  • Whipped cream or frosting (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare your favorite white cake mix, then divide the batter evenly among six small bowls. Following the chart below, dye each bowl of batter a rainbow color.

RAINBOW COLOR

DROPS OF FOOD COLORING

Purple

9 red and 6 blue drops

Blue

12 drops

Green

12 drops

Yellow

12 drops

Orange

12 yellow and 4 red drops

Red

18 drops

2. Line 16 muffin pan wells with baking cups. Evenly distribute the purple batter among the cups, then the blue, and so on, following the order shown. As you go, gently spread each layer of batter with the back of a spoon to cover the color underneath.

3. Bake the cupcakes according to your recipe directions. Before serving, remove the paper wrapping, and if you like, top each cupcake with a whipped-cream or frosting cloud.

Enjoy!!!
