So, after talking to my mom who had to plan all of it we decided to get married on my grandpa's 70th birthday, August 8, 2003.
A few years prior I had picked out a dress...yeah, yeah, I was engaged in 99. I chose a mission instead. I had already known I wanted to go but was told by others that if marriage came up that it was my duty to get married. I prayed about it and even though I got grief from some leaders I knew that I was suppose to go on a mission and the Lord would provide the rest. I knew that if I chose this something better would be waiting for me. Let me tell you. It wasn't easy. As soon as I sent in my papers, the day that they were in my mail box I was in Salt Lake at my cousins wedding and ran into an old boyfriend. When we were dating we talked marriage, yeah, what can I tell you about return missionaries. So, anyway, we knew that it wasn't the time and maybe in a couple years. Well, it had been a couple of years. So, now I had another dilemma. But again, I prayed and knew that I needed to go and that if he was the one he would be there when I go back and if not something better would be there for me. I put my trust in the Lord, served a mission, met amazing people, grew a ton, and met and married Isaac a year after returning home.
Anyway, so I had a dress picked out from the previous engagement and several appointments set to have it altered but I kept putting it off and then I broke it off. So, I knew the style of dress that I wanted. We looked everywhere. Finally, a friend of my moms in Price had just purchased a new lot of dresses for her bridal store and there it was. Well, kind of. It was what I wanted but my mom had to redo the whole bodice. It was way too low for me in the front and didn't have a back. By the time she finished I had to loose at least 5 more pounds for the dress to fit because there was so much more fabric on the bodice. She did an amazing job. No one would even know that the dress was not the original. One day, in my dreams, I will sew like my mom.
