Jog-A-Thon

Kenner's school had their first fundraiser, which was a jogathon.  Kindergarten had their own track since they're only in kindergarten.  Cones were set up and they were off.  Basically these little children ran around the perimeter for 10 MINUTES.  Some decided to walk and some even grouped up and decided to just sit down.  The teachers were there to encourage them to keep going as were many moms.  They all were huffing and puffing and were tired, but I'm so impressed with how well they did.  I'm so proud of Kenner.  He ran mostly the whole time.  Yes, he walked a little here and there, but he was amazing.

Enjoying an Otter Pop.

This gives an idea as to what it was like.

First Day of Kindergarten

For just a minute I'm going to sound all mushy and sentimental.
My oh My!!!  The time has gone by.
I remember when Kenner was just a baby and him starting school seemed so far away.  We could run errands late in the evening not worrying about school nights.  We could come and go anytime during the day.  Our lives were flexible and that was all changing.  I will be honest.  I was not the happy parent that most are when their child starts school.  Kenner has been with me 24 hours a day for almost 6 years and now it's time to turn him over to someone else.  I know I know, it's only 2 hours and 45 minutes, but it's only the beginning.

He was up and ready by 7:30 and school didn't start until 9:15.  He was very excited.  All morning Kameron would tell me that he was going to go with Kenner.  He would refuse to do what I would ask him until I agreed to him staying with Kenner at school.  Obviously I wasn't going to.  This went on for a couple of weeks.

When we arrived at Kenner's school the teachers decorated their entry way into the playground with balloons and streamers.  They handed out Hershey Hugs and Kisses to the parents.  Many parents were taking pictures, I was one of them.  Many parents were crying as they were saying good bye, I was one of them.  When we got I home it was very quiet.  Jasmine went down for a nap so it was just me and Kameron.  It was then that I realized Kenner did most of the talking because our house was just that quiet.  I could tell Kameron missed his best buddy.

Kenner had a wonderful first day of school and both Kameron and I were excited to pick him up.

What can I say, I love my Kenner.

He picked his new Scooby Doo T-Shirt on his first day.

Catch Ups

Please be patient with me.  What you're about to see is catch up time.  It is always on my mind to post new happenings, but let's face it I don't have much time and when I do have time I just want to do nothing.  So, since I mostly blog so those that don't see my family on a regular basis can see all the fun and crazy things we do I'm going to play catch up.

CATCH UP #1

The Fourth of July.  Yes, that's right.  We're going all the way back to the Fourth of July.

Kenner found a "Tree Star".

We did fireworks of our own with our awesome neighbors.  The boys were so excited to start the fun that Kenner went out there with one shoe on.  Well, not the best thing to do when working with fireworks, or should I say sparklers.  As he was holding a lit sparkler a piece fell on the ground which he accidentally stepped on.  He had a 1 1/2 inch blister on the bottom of his foot.  He didn't let the pain ruin his night though.  He was very careful with it especially when others got too close, but he still smiled.  Needless to say, lesson learned.

Fireworks are so much better with 3D glasses.

CATCH UP #2
If anyone knows my boys, they know just how much they love fire trucks.  They love to watch them, play with them, even pretend to be firemen.  Firetrucks are big in our house.  We only have one fireman jacket so Kenner was kind enough to let Kameron have it while Kenner puts together his own fireman ensemble.  Don't they look fabulous and ready to put out fires?

We have truly been lucky with where we live.  We share a grassy field with the fire station that is in the back of our house.  The boys will race to the back windows if they hear calls come in so they can watch the trucks and ambulance leave with their lights on.  They really enjoy it when the firemen do their trainings outside with the trucks and the hose.  This past summer they were practicing with the hose and saw the boys watching.  They invited them to take a turn spraying the hose.  They did and they LOVED it.

Kameron would only do it if I held him.

CATCH UP #3
One thing we like to make is Goo.  Cornstarch mixed with water.  The boys love it (I think it's kind of fun too)  and it's not too hard to clean up.

CATCH UP #4
This August we went to a K-9 show at one of Brian's cemetaries.  That may sound weird.  Anyhow, we got to watch bomb squads demonstrate how they find bombs with their bomb finding robot (I don't know what else you would call it) and their bomb sniffing dogs and the swat team come and move in on a "suspect" with their dogs.  These demonstrations proved to me that I never want to be up against a police trained dog and that these dogs are incredibly smart.

The following week we went to the Murray City Fire Safety Fair.  The boys loved seeing the jaws of life demonstration, the fire demonstration, the other K-9 show, and of course, Life Flight landing.

CATCH UP #5
Before school started Brian and I took the kids on a little picnic to the Ledgemere Site in Little Cottonwood Canyon.  This special place is where Brian and I got engaged.  It's fun to go up there with the kids and show them where and how daddy proposed to mommy.  They were more interested in climbing on rocks, playing in the dirt, and seeing who could throw the biggest rock in the creek, but Brian and I love and cherish this tradition.

CATCH UP #6
Jasmine is quite the funny little girl.  She pulls some hilarious faces, but mostly she is always smiling.

CATCH UP #7

Having fun outside.

Enjoying a day at the zoo with great friends.

Our Stake had a carnival this summer.  The boys' favorite thing to do was of course, the train ride.

To end the summer lets play in a box.  This just comes to show that one simple box can be a number of things to 3 little boys.

I sure love them.

The zoo had dinosaurs spread about this summer.  Kenner thought they were pretty cool, but Kameron was not fond of them.  In fact, when Kenner would get close for a picture Kameron would worry so much that Kenner was in danger.

 Aww, my little monkey.

Denver in June 2011

Mom payed had private swimming lessons arranged for the four boys while we were there.  After only three classes they were doing pretty good.

We spent a lot of time at the pool.  Why wouldn't we?  It's hot, it's summer, and it's so much fun.
Grandma playing patt a cake with Jasmine's feet.
We bought sparklers, but had a hard time finding time to do them when the boys were all together.  The only time we were able to do it is when it was still light outside, but the boys still had fun.
We had a BBQ with the family and the guys played some crouquet.
 Cousins having fun.
Jasmine's first time in the swing.  The expression tells it all.  She loved it.
We found this book at our library in Utah called, "Who is Melvin Bubble?"  It's probably one of our favorites now.  We brought it to Denver so we could share it with others.  They liked it too (we knew they would).

My had the four boys make stepping stones for her backyard.  She always has some fun project ready for them to do.  Kenner really enjoyed wearing the mask.

As always we had a great time, but it's sad to leave.  Kenner loves going to Denver and going to Grandma and Grandpa's house.  When it's time to get in the car and head back to Utah, Kenner begins to cry, which then makes me feel sad too.  Kameron kept telling us that he didn't want to leave either.  We don't know when we will make it back, but we try to make every minute count.
