Saturday Kim and Carolyn came up and we went on a hike. Now none of us had been on this hike before but Dave and I were told by an older couple that this hike was easy, beautiful and lots of fun. We decided that this would be a great hike for all of us especially since Dave, myself and the girls were pretty thrashed from Raging Waters the day before. The hike started out easy and got more beautiful as the hike went up the mountain. UP, UP and UP we went. If we knew what we were getting ourselves into we would have stayed in bed that morning. No really it was fun to be out in nature and together with the fam. We really had a great time and can look back and laugh.

Fun 4th of July!
We had such a great 4th of July! We headed up to Idaho and on the 4th had a BBQ at my parents Bishop's house on the river and then we headed to my parents house that evening and had dinner and an awesome illegal fireworks show. I love the 4th of July!

Water Party!
Summer is officially here! We had our first neighborhood water party and it was a blast. By 5 o'clock we had a lot of friends over. The neighborhood kids call Dave "Mr. Dave". I purchased a bunch of water balloons and we blew them up and threw them at him when he pulled in from work. He was a good sport about it and we all had a good time. All except for my sunburned head and arms. I didn't think to put sunscreen on myself just the kiddos.

I took the girls last week to get their ears pierced. We have been talking about it for quite some time but they were always chicken. Maelle went first so Syd had to do it. She couldn't let her little sister show her up. Syd is allergic to nickel so we had to get her some nickel free earrings. She seems to be doing great with them so far. Having girls is so much fun! We had a girls day and did some summer clothes shopping. My little girls
are growing up!

It's been awhile!
Hola! I haven't posted in quite some time. Life is much better than it was a month ago. We ended up trading in our SUV and getting Dave a Camry and me a Nissan van. My dad is doing much better. For those of you who don't know what happened he was involved in a car accident that killed three people and injured another. He is a truck driver and he was fully loaded when he entered an intersection, in So. CA on the border, on an old country road where the stop sign had been taken down and not put back up. The people he hit were 3 couples on their annual trip to So. CA. There were three people in the back and three in the front. A couple and a woman in the back seat were all killed. A woman was behind my dad who witnessed the whole thing and she was from the area where the accident happened. She told my dad and the police that she had called the county numerous times about that stop sign. To make a long story short it has been a hard month but a good one. The Lord works in mysterious ways. A cool story to tell is the couple that passed away in the accident were strong LDS people, I guess they all were, but my brother-in-law knows some of the family of the couple that died. He works in the same circles as the woman's brother. He told my brother-in-law that a few weeks before they left on their trip his sister prepared her will and took her entire family to Disneyland. On their way down for their annual trip they stopped and went thru the temple. She called her brother afterward and told him that he was going to have to take care of their mother because she wasn't going to be around to do it. I have never felt emotions like I felt when I received the phone call about the accident. So many things went through my mind. I can't even imagine how my dad feels. A speaker at Stake Conference said that we are given trials so that we can be torn down and built back up to become what the Lord wants us to be. I don't know why families had to loose their loved ones or why my dad was the one to take them from this life. Questions that I will probably never know the answers too. I do know that I have to keep the faith and that there is a purpose to all things. Thanks for all of your support. Keep my dad in your prayers.

What a week!
Hello to all who are so lucky to get to read about my life. Ha! Ha! This week was probably the most emotional week so far of my life. Sunday: President Hinckley passed away. Monday: My dad was involved in a horrible, tragic accident (he is ok but others weren't). Dave's car died and is getting donated to the kidney foundation and we have to have another car NOW! I have been up and down all week. Thank you to my wonderful husband who puts up with me and all of my emotions. I was really considering not going to church today. I was coming up with every excuse in the book why I should stay home but in the end I knew I needed to go. I truly am grateful that I went. I have a wonderful calling where I get to teach the 5 yr. olds (Maelle's class) and I love it! They are so precious and say the most hilarious things. What tender sweet little spirits they have. I forgot all about my week and got to talk with them and teach them about their Savior Jesus Christ. They are so stinkin smart! The Lord knows just what we need! I know there is a purpose in all things it's just hard not knowing that purpose right now. I am keeping the faith and thank you to all who have been there for me this week! Keep my dad in your prayers. Lots of love!

Family Fun!
The weekend of the 19th most of the Perkins family got together and went skiing up at Wolf Mountain. We had such a blast! The little girls did such a wonderful job. Syd and Lexi were the cutest. They thought they were such big girls. It really was emotional for me. They have been skiing since they were three and now they are almost seven. They are the best of friends and they got on the lift all by themselves and went up and down the mountain all day long. By the end of the day they were both so tired they could hardly stand it but they each threw a fit when we told them it was time to go. Now Maelle, Abby and Madison did awesome as well. Abby was all about it. She is a go getter and was determined to be like the big girls. It was her first time skiing and Grandma, the teacher, was nervous about her because we all know that Abby is very stubborn but also very determined. She had a great time and can't wait to get up on the mountain again. Madison was so great. She looked like a little bullet up on the mountain. She is also a very determined child and will accomplish whatever challenge comes her way. Maelle struggled a little bit. She is also very stubborn! By mid-morning she had almost worn Grandma out but she got it down once again and now talks about going skiing all of the time. She can't wait to get up on that mountain again. I truly enjoyed seeing all of those girls skiing together. I just hope we can keep it up. Thanks to Grandma Perkins for being a teacher to all of us on the slopes. She does a great job. We all love her very much!

Freedom
The weekend after Christmas my beautiful cousin Rebecca got married in the Oakland CA, Temple. So the Perkins kids thought it would be fun to take a vacation without the kiddos. Andrea and I flew out, while our great husbands stayed home with the kids, and the rest of the clan drove. Bud and Melissa unfortunately weren't able to come. We had a great time!
Christmas!
