Easter 2010

Does this look like Easter to you? I couldn't believe it when I got up Easter morning and looked out the window and saw a winter wonderland. Luckily by the time we had our egg hunt it had mostly melted off, but it was still pretty cold and not too Easter like. Unfortunately it was the introduction to a spring with much more of this to come. Here we are May 2nd, and it snowed last night too. Hopefully some day spring will really come. But Easter was still fun and the cousins had a great time together as usual. We treated all the boys to Nerf rockets. They had a great time with them, and poor Kyle spent all his time climbing fences, trees and bushes getting them down for his brother and younger cousins. Way to go Kyle! He and Courtney hid all the eggs this year for their old grandma. Much appreciated. Unfortunately I didn't get pictures of the rocket episodes. Darn! Again Kari, Joel and family were greatly missed. We were glad we got to see them before hand, but the cousins would have loved to have Carson and Madi in the hunt!

San Antonio Trip

We went to San Antonio in March to visit Kari, Joel, Carson and Madilyn. It was a double fun trip since we saw sights of San Antonio we had not seen before, and we also got to spend a week getting reacquainted with Carson and Madi. Carson remembers us from trip to trip now, but Madilyn is too little. But she was Grandma's girl by the second day, and Carson wanted to be with us every minute. The weather was perfect, and we had a busy week seeing the sights and enjoying the kids. Some of the things we saw included the Alamo, the River Walk, several museums and Sea World. I didn't realize San Antonio was the home to so many museums. We saw dinosaurs, Texas history, Ripley's Believe it or Not and the Wax Museum (Carson's favorite, especially the "scary guys behind the doors". However, Daddy saved the day by opening the right door.) I also can't forget the superb Mexican food. If we never get back to San Antonio, we will have memories of the fun things there to do. Lots of pictues below.

Here we are standing by the side of the river.

We rode a boat just like this. It took us on a tour of the RiverWalk. It was Carson's request, but we all enjoyed it.

How do Carson and Grandma measure up with the dinosaurs?

The kids are digging for dinosaur tracks at the museum. Madi loved it.

Carson and Madilyn riding the elephant outside the museum. Sorry that we sort of cut off Joel.

Outside the Alamo. I could have spent all day there, but we got a good taste of the history. And Grandpa found the Lowes race car at Sea World. Here he is with it.

Here we are at Sea World with Carson and Madi.

You can't really see him, but Carson is riding up high on the little kid Roller Coaster. He loved it.

Cameron's Science Fair

Cameron is the scientist and inventor in our family. He was able to use those special skills in the Science Fair this year. He took first place in his school, and went on to district. There he placed and was able to go to BYU to participate in state competition. His project was hydrogen rockets, which we thought was much more scientific that nearly everything there. Apparently the judges thought so too, as Cameron took 2nd place in the Chemistry division for the whole state. Way to go Cameron!! Here are pictures of the project and Cameron at work.

And while at BYU, Kailey got to meet Cosmo!!

Thunder

We are so proud of Kyle for making the sophomore basketball team at his new Westlake High School. We were able to watch him and his Thunder play a few times. Grandma loves watching sports, and there is nothing better than seeing my own grandkids play. Here are a few pictures of Kyle in action.

Easter 2009

We actually had a lovely day on Easter after it had been raining or snowing every day. A couple of days later it started up again, so we were glad for the nice day for egg hunting. We are always grateful for some quality cousin time and holiday family fun. This year Kyle hid eggs instead of hunting them, and we had to send eggs to Florida again for Carson and Madilyn. But we talked to them on the webcam. Overall it was a great holiday for all.

Family all Together

Kari and Joel came home to Utah to bless little Madilyn. We had a nice visit with them and are already missing them. I miss Carson following me around and taking my hand to go play. I miss him wanting Grandma to put him to bed. I miss holding little Madi and know that she will be SO MUCH BIGGER the next time we see her. We were fortunate enough to get the whole family together (minus Kyle who was off to a multi-stake dance) on Saturday for dinner, snow fun and games. We had the entire family, all 26 of us, together on Sunday for the baby blessing. Those are special times for Grandpa and I. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing our whole posterity together in one place. We must be getting old! That sounds like something my dad would have said. But......can you belive that it was so lively that we forgot to take a single picture!! Hopefully the next time will be soon!
