After weeks of cold, damp and rainy days -- we've gone right into summer-like weather and today is fir the that I actually and HOT, which means it time for DH to work on putting in all our AC units. Of course, here in New England most homes do not have central air, but if I were ever building new, it's something I know I would consider. Luckily, we now have invested in enough window units, that we can pretty much keep the entire house nice and cool. Something I consider a true blessing, especially when it's humid. I LOVE the warm weather, but I admit, I like to sleep in a cool bedroom and like the house to be nice and cool inside. I'll be very happy when they are all in and I know I won't melt away in the humidity! Hot and sunny weather is fine by me...but humid weather is NOT! That kind of weather is as bad for Fibro as is damp cold weather. Dry weather is best for me and my doctor thinks a climate like Arizona, would likely be perfect for me. Now, if I could get my family to go and we could find a nice home with a pool, I'd go in a heartbeat!
I have to save from here and come back to finish! Hubby has just come in to tell me my room is next so I need to get some things moved and head out while he installs my unit. Yippee....!
....
Later -- I'm back and took the time to go out and water my garden and flowers. I hate to see him lifting those heavy things and prefer to say out of the way, while he is at work! I did make a clear path for him, so that he did not have to move anything to get to that window. It's an area where I keep the majority of my Paper Stacks and 12X12 stacks, along with bins chock full of rubber stamps...and of course...even MORE paper! I don't know about you, but I LOVE paper and even though I have enough to last a lifetime, I continue to buy more and I'm am definitely running out of space for much more in this room! A feel a purge coming on soon...probably at the end of the Summer?
I have three new cards to share today and all were created for new challenges. This first card was created for a the
CAS Challenge over at
The Outlawz and this week the
CAS Girlz, teamed up with the
Scrapbook Girlz to show that you can take one sketch and often use it for a card and/or a layout! This is the sketch that Amy created to inspire us for both challenges!!
And this is my take of the sketch, which I used to create a card, of course!
Scrapping, (unfortunately) is NOT me...!!
I started with this wonderful new digi from
Isabella's Sketchbook, that I bought yesterday during her weekend sale. I then colored it with my copics and added some ultra-fine glitter to make it sparkle. I layered it onto some new
Basic Grey Sweet Threads paper (a new favorites) and then added strips or coordinating papers and cardstock along with a small butterfly I punched with a MS Butterfly punch.
I m submitted this card to these fun challenges - everyone is welcome to play along:
My next card was created and inspired by this week's new challenge over at
Flutter-By Wednesday. Their challenge this week is to create a
CAS Style card, and since that is a technique I have been working heard to learn. This is the card I am submitting to the currently challenge and I hope you'll also play along.
I was also very touched by
this post that Danni had on the blog. It's about a very kind and caring group, called
Card Cupids. The
mission of this group is to create cards for children who are facing a difficult challenge or time in their lives. In particular and to tie in the Flutter-by challenge, this is the info on one of the children they are currently helping out -- I copied this from the site --
" ....Katherine, 4 years old, was just diagnosed with ALL Leukemia and has begun chemotherapy. She loves butterflies and flowers and watching movies. Her favorite colors are pink and purple..." As soon as I saw it I knew I could make a card for her and I'll be working it on later today, but, I also wanted to share the link and hope I can inspire you ALL to join in.
Card Cupids also host a
weekly challenge, which you can find
HERE! There are also other ways to help out and you can find more details on the site. I think it's such a wonderful idea ! Who doesn't want to help a child, if they can!! I hope you'll consider stopping by the site from time to time and see if you can help send a young child some special '
Happy Cards' or even donate some other item they may need! I have now added the site to my bookmarks and my sidebar!
My next card today is one that I think little Katherine may like. It's one I created today for the new '
Greeting Card' Challenge over at '
The Outlawz'. This week is '
Anything Goes' and my card is a little fun card that I think any little girl would love. My image is a cute little
Fairy and she was added to my collection this month during their
BIG SALE, which ends tomororw! If you like
Bugaboo's wonderful images, tomorrow is that last day to buy any and all images for
50% off!!
This cutie is being submitted to these challenges:
I'm off to put my room back together, as I had to move a lot of things out of the way, so that DH could put in my AC unit. It will now be kind of fun to hopefully re-organize a bit and go through some papers that I admit, I have not touched in a long time. Kind of like shopping in my own room! Yippee!!
In closing, I hope everyone had a nice weekend and I hope you all remembered to think of all those who we have lost from our lives and to cherish your wonderful memories. Life can be FAR too short at times and it's heartbreaking to lose anyone, especially those you love. I also think of Memorial Day as being a way to help remind us ALL to cherish every day, because you just never know what tomorrow may bring.
Hugs,
Lisa
