Where did the weekend go?

   Why do the weekends always FLY by?   I remember thinking on Thursday that it would be nice to have the long weekend and then the next thing I know, it's all over!!  It's already Tuesday, even though I keep thinking it's Monday!!   I am not sure about you, but as I get older, it seems that time goes by even faster and I'm ready for it to slow down, so I can enjoy every moment!

   Today, I have two new cards to share and the first is the card that I was inspired to make for Card Cupids, which you can find HERE!   If you are a regular follower - you'll know that I found out about Card Cupids, yesterday and posted more information in that post.  I first found them from a link on my friend Danni's Blog - (Flutter By Wednesday) and was very touched by the organization.  I am sharing it again with you today, along with the card that I made for one of the children.

   My  card was created for a little girl named Katherine.  She is 4 year old and has recently been diagnosed with ALL Leukemia and is not starting Chemo.   Card Cupids are looking for crafters to make her some happy cars.  She loves butterflies and flowers and loves to watch movies.  He favorite colors are purple and pink (just like me) and those are exactly the colors I used for her card.   I started by picking up this cute little image from Pink Cat Studio and colored it all in her favorite colors.  I then added a layer of 3D Crystal Lacquer to the Wings.  I use it often for clear objects and also to add dimension and shine.

My card was also inspired and will be submitted to each of these challenges before it is mailed out:

   I also have one more card today and this one is very different for me, but I really like the way it turned out.  It's kind of a Shabby Chic style and was inspired by this week's Color Combo Challenge over at The Outlawz Challenge Group.  This is a copy of the color theme for this week -

My Card

This card is being subbmited to each of these new challenges and I hope you will all play along:
  And that is it for today!  My craft room is in DIRE need for some cleaning and that's my focus for the rest of today!  I've been so busy making cards, (which I LOVE), but have not put much away lately...and it shows!!  Yikes!!  I would not want anyone to pop in for a visit...at least not right now!!

Summer is here....

   After weeks of cold, damp and rainy days -- we've gone right into summer-like weather and today is fir the that I actually and HOT, which means it time for DH to work on putting in all our AC units.   Of course, here in New England most homes do not have central air, but if I were ever building new, it's something I know I would consider.  Luckily, we now have invested in enough window units, that we can pretty much keep the entire house nice and cool.   Something I consider a true blessing, especially when it's humid.   I LOVE the warm weather, but I admit, I like to sleep in a cool bedroom and like the house to be nice and cool inside.   I'll be very happy when they are all in and I know I won't melt away in the humidity!  Hot and sunny weather is fine by me...but humid weather is NOT!  That kind of weather is as bad for Fibro as is damp cold weather.  Dry weather is best for me and my doctor thinks a climate like Arizona, would likely be perfect for me.  Now, if I could get my family to go and we could find a nice home with a pool, I'd go in a heartbeat!

  I have to save from here and come back to finish!  Hubby has just come in to tell me my room is next so I need to get some things moved and head out while he installs my unit.  Yippee....!

  .... Later -- I'm back and took the time to go out and water my garden and flowers.   I hate to see him lifting those heavy things and prefer to say out of the way, while he is at work!   I did make a clear path for him, so that he did not have to move anything to get to that window.  It's an area where I keep the majority of my Paper Stacks and 12X12 stacks, along with bins chock full of rubber stamps...and of course...even MORE paper!   I don't know about you, but I LOVE paper and even though I have enough to last a lifetime, I continue to buy more and I'm am definitely running out of space for much more in this room!  A feel a purge coming on soon...probably at the end of the Summer?

      I have three new cards to share today and all were created for new challenges.   This first card was created for a the CAS Challenge over at The Outlawz and this week the CAS Girlz, teamed up with the Scrapbook Girlz to show that you can take one sketch and often use it for a card and/or a layout!  This is the sketch that Amy created to inspire us for both challenges!!

And this is my take of the sketch, which I used to create a card, of course!
Scrapping, (unfortunately) is NOT me...!!

  I started with this wonderful new digi from Isabella's Sketchbook, that I bought yesterday during her weekend sale.  I then colored it with my copics and added some ultra-fine glitter to make it sparkle.  I layered it onto some new Basic Grey Sweet Threads paper (a new favorites) and then added strips or coordinating papers and cardstock along with a small butterfly I punched with a MS Butterfly punch.

I m submitted this card to these fun challenges - everyone is welcome to play along:
  My next card was created and inspired by this week's new challenge over at Flutter-By Wednesday.  Their challenge this week is to create a CAS Style card, and since that is a technique I have been working heard to learn.  This is the card I am submitting to the currently challenge and I hope you'll also play along.

   I was also very touched by this post that Danni had on the blog.   It's about a very kind and caring group, called  Card Cupids.    The mission of this group is to create cards for children who are facing a difficult challenge or time in their lives.   In particular and to tie in the Flutter-by challenge, this is the info on one of the children they are currently helping out -- I copied this from the site --

" ....Katherine, 4 years old, was just diagnosed with ALL Leukemia and has begun chemotherapy. She loves butterflies and flowers and watching movies.  Her favorite colors are pink and purple..."   As soon as I saw it I knew I could make a card for her and I'll be working it on later today, but, I also wanted to share the link and hope I can inspire you ALL to join in.   Click Here for More info!

  Card Cupids also host a weekly challenge, which you can find HERE!   There are also other ways to help out and you can find more details on the site.  I think it's such a wonderful idea !  Who doesn't want to help a child, if they can!!  I hope you'll consider stopping by the site from time to time and see if you can help send a young child some special 'Happy Cards' or even donate some other item they may need!  I have now added the site to my bookmarks and my sidebar!

   My next card today is one that I think little Katherine may like.  It's one I created today for the new 'Greeting Card' Challenge over at 'The Outlawz'.  This week is 'Anything Goes' and my card is a little fun card that I think any little girl would love.   My image is a cute little Fairy and she was added to my collection this month during their BIG SALE, which ends tomororw!  If you like Bugaboo's wonderful images, tomorrow is that last day to buy any and all images for 50% off!!

  This cutie is being submitted to these challenges:

   I'm off to put my room back together, as I had to move a lot of things out of the way, so that DH could put in my AC unit.  It will now be kind of fun to hopefully re-organize a bit and go through some papers that I admit, I have not touched in a long time.   Kind of like shopping in my own room!   Yippee!!

   In closing, I hope everyone had a nice weekend and I hope you all remembered to think of all those who we have lost from our lives and to cherish your wonderful memories.   Life can be FAR too short at times and it's heartbreaking to lose anyone, especially those you love.   I also think of Memorial Day as being a way to help remind us ALL to cherish every day, because you just never know what tomorrow may bring.

Hugs,
Lisa

A very creative day.....

   I spent most of the day yesterday, coloring images and that is always so much fun and a perfect way for me to relax.  I also love challenges and take part in many, as another way to practice card-making and coloring with my Copic markers.

    My first card today was inspired by the brand new Copic Challenge over at the Color Me Creative Classroom.  This is Suzanne Dean's classroom, where you can sign up for a variety of classes or simply come by to meet others and play along in the bi-weekly Copic challenge.   This one, I admit was a challenge, but I never give up, and I'm happy I found some images to make it work out.

   The challenge this round is to 'Color feathers', and the DT did a fantastic job with their inspiration cards.  My problem was that I really did not have any 'feathered' digi images or stamps.  But, after taking some time, I did find two to use - one I had in my files and a new one I bought yesterday from Isabella's Sketchbook.  This first card features the image I bought yesterday and it's very sweet Christmas Dove.

    This card is being submitted to each of these challenges:

   I really love this image and think it will make a lot of wonderful cards for the Holidays, which I should be working on now!!  Last year at this time, I had about 20 cards done, this year!  ---Hum, as you can guess I'm already behind, since this is my first card this year!

    My next card also features another bird image, only this time I can not remember where I found or bought it.  At one time, I did not file or name all my digi images very well, so if you do happen to know the artist, please share, so I can give credit, where it's due!!

  This card has a ton of details and both layers of the background were created with alcohol inks and and then were also dry embossed.  The bird was colored with Copics and then outlined with Ultra Fine glimmer for lots of sparkle and shine.  The circular layer behind the bird is actually a foil that was inked and then run through the Cuttlebug.   It ended up being a very vibrant and very cool card and I only wish the pics came out better, as this looks even better in person!!

  This is also being submitted to each of these challenges and you are invited to join any and ALL:
     My next card was created for a new challenge this week over at SSC and this card was for the new CAS Challenge, where we were inspired to create a CAS style card using Heat Embossing.

   This card is also being submitted to this week's Embossing Challenge over at Craft Emma's!  I started with one of my new Hero Art's stamps and stamped it in Versamark on white glossy paper.  I then embossed it in Black Ranger Powder and used a variety of Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls Mist to create a pretty soft background.  I then cute it out with a Nestie Die and layers it onto a doily and a die cut!  A very, yet very fun card.
   My next card was also created today and was inspired to the new challenge being hosted at Catch the Bug, which is the blog for  Bugaboo Stamps.  The challenge this week is to create a project using Bright Colors and I went with a Summer themed Image from Bugaboo for my choice.

  This image I bought last Summer, but it's always been a favorite and reminds me of what I'm sure a lot of people are doing this weekend - Having Cookouts and enjoying time outside!   I just LOVE corn on the cob, but it's not in season yet here, so we'll have a wait a bit longer to have some to try out!  Yummy!!

  And I have one more card to share today and this was was created for today's new Sketch Challenge over at the Stars & Stamp Blog.  This is a copy of the Sketch for this week!

My Card

  This week I went with the Red, White and Blue color theme to also incorporation a Memorial Day Theme!   I am off now, but wanted to again wish everyone a nice Memorial Day and to continue to honor and cherish the memories of those we have lost and those who gave their life for our Country!!

Oh What a Day!!!

   I am feeling GOOD today and that is such a wonderful feeling and I'm so HAPPY!   What a world of difference as compared to the past few weeks!   It's also another gorgeous day....bright blue skies...lots of sunshine and nice warm temps!  I LOVE SUMMER!!

     This morning, I actually did some gardening and finally finished planting the last the the flowers I bought a few weeks ago, before we had all the rain.   I also did a bit of weeding...and then watered everything and washed down our deck.  All the left over pollen and is now rinsed off and hopefully we are done with it for this season.  My gardens are growing really fast now...it's amazing to see the difference in a matter of days, especially when you add in the SUN!

    I have a few cards to share and I'll add more details later, but for now, I'm simply happy to get them uploaded.  My first card is one that I made based on this 'Make a Wish' card by BarbaraLynn, that I found over at the SCS Gallery.  I was browsing for some ideas for a MALE card, as they are always so hard for me, and that's when I found her card.  I also thought it was a great way to use scraps and I know it's an idea I will use again!   My thanks to Barbaralynn for some awesome inspiration !!

Make a Wish

My cased version!

  This next card was another one that I had come up with as an idea for my BIL's birthday card.  Very plain and simple, but I think it would work!!

  And then I have these two which are the cards that were created for challenges.   Both were created with Digi images and colored with Copics.   This first card was created for this week's challenge over at 'The Outlawz" and this week the Copic Challenge is "Anything Goes".  My image is another of my favorites from Wax Fruit Company.

   And this cutie was also created for a Copic Coloring challenge and this one is being hosted over at SSC, which you can find HERE!   Our challenge at SSC was to created a project (colored with Copics), that shows something you LOVE about Summer or something you love to do in the Summer!  For me that is heading to the Beach -- my favorite place to be!!    This cute little digi is from Tiddly Inks.

  And that's it for now!  I'm off to have dinner and then will be hitting the shower and resting for the evening.

   Wishing everyone a very nice Memorial Day weekend -- the weekend many people consider the first true weekend of Summer, but more importantly a time to remember all those who have been lost, especially those who proudly serve and protect our country.    God Bless our Troops!

   I'd also like to invite everyone to join the Memorial Day Blog Hop tomorrow over at the Stars & Stamps Blog!

Having fun...and loving the Sun!

    We are having another wonderful weather day and it's fabulous.  Lots of gorgeous sunshine an bright blue skies.  I have all my windows open and there is also a nice light sea-breeze....it's awesome and I'm so thankful that the rain is gone and it looks like we should have continued nice weather though the weekend!  Yippee!!!

   This afternoon, I began working on some new cards and even tried out my new 'Gelatos'.  These are a fairy new to the market craft color medium, created by Faber-Castell.   I was first introduced to them, when we took Jennifer's McGuire's Workshop back in April.    We had used them on one of the cards we created in the card-making class and it's one of cards shows in the video link.  Her Video also shows some of the other new products that Faber-Castell has on the market and I also have one of the Big Brush Pens, but have not tried it yet and will post a picture, when I do.    You can also check out the video posted  by HSN that aired during one of their recent craft shows.  Go HERE!!  The special set that HSN has packaged together is really a great deal deal, you can find it at HSN online.

   My card today was started by stamping a new Hero Arts Stamp onto White Glossy Paper by Ranger.  I then embossed it in white and used a variety of alcohol inks and Perfect Pearls Mist to create my background.  I used the Gelatos to add a bit of color to the embossed flowers, which was easy and fun.   I simply rubbed a bit on the areas I wanted and then buffed it out with my finger.  Once my image was totally dry I used a nestie die, cut it out, added some ribber and my card was done.   If you add a lot of the Gelato product to your project you want to be sure to spray your finished card with a Spray Fixative to keep it from smearing.  For this card, I did not need to do that.

     My card was inspired and will be submitted to these new challenges:
       My next card today is one that was based on today's new Sketch Challenge over at by Lori Designs.  I was very sad to learn that this is the end of the current Design Team's term and that this will also be the very last Challenge at BLD.  It's one that I really enjoy and will miss.  I love all of Lori's wonderful images and will now look forward to using them in other challenges.   This is a copy of the Sketch for the Current Challenge, which you can also find HERE!!

My Card

  This cutie is being submitted to each of these challenge and hope you will take time to create a card to submit:
     I hope to now get to work on a GUY (Male) card, which are always my hardest card to create.   This one will be for my Brother in Law, (Hubby's Brother) who has a birthday next week.  I think I will browse around a bit on Feline Playful for some fun challenges with Male Themed cards and hopefully that will help inspire me!
   Have a nice day and for those of you in the Midwest...I hope that you are all safe and well and that the storms will be gone very soon!   Watching the news and seeing the devastation caused by all the tornadoes is very scary.  My heart is heavy for all those who have been affected by these awful storms!!

Yuk.....

  Today is just not a great day for me, despite some gorgeous weather, I have ZERO energy and feel yuk!  It's not a lot of pain, just that kind of feeling when you don't feel good and you really just want to lay down and rest.   I did actually do that for about half an hour and I think it helped.  I'm still not feeling great, but I did feel well enough to try and make some cards.  I find that if I keep busy when I feel lousy, it helps to keep my mind off the the nausea, pain or fatigue.

    I started with another of those very quick and easy cards and like yesterday, I used another one of my Penny Black Stickeroos as image for this card.  It was also created for a challenge and based on this new Sketch from 'The Outlawz'.

The Sketch
My Card

   I really like how this card turn out and it can serve many uses, but will very likely be sent off in my next box of card for 'Operation Write Home'.   It is also being submitted to each of these challenges and everyone is welcome to play along.  The first is a brand new challenge blog which just opened - It's called "Crafting for All Seasons' and you can find it here!
   My next plan was to create a card for the Wacky Wednesday Challenge that is hosted now every Wednesday by Bugaboo Stamps.  You can find it in their Group at CDAC or also over at PCP and I am happy to be a member of both groups!   This week's challenge is to create a recipe card and I had read all the details this morning.  Once I felt better I started working on my card I and knew exactly which Sassy Sentiment and Bugaboo image I wanted to use.  I colored up Sassy Stella (as a Fairy) and put together this fun and very sassy card.

    Once my card was all set, I headed to CDAC to post it and that's when I realized that I truly had picked the PERFECT image and sentiment for my card -- Because, I had not followed the recipe correctly and my card was WRONG!   As usual, my Fibro-fogged memory had failed me and I forget to use TWO different Patterned Papers, which is what was clearly stated in the Recipe!   Gessh Lis, what were you thinking?    Yup??   This Stella image and her sentiment was perfect and pretty much exactly how I felt when I realized I did it totally WRONG!!  LMBO!  Now, I can laugh at it and I hope you will too, but it's really quite ironic that I picked this image and sentiment!!  Fit me perfectly today!!

    I've since taken that card apart and re-read the Recipe and now have created this card, which does NOT have two Patterned Papers and is the card I'm submitting to the Challenge.  If you want to play along, here are the recipe details -- Please read Carefully --

 Your RECIPE for this WACKY Week –

2 Printed/Patterned Papers

A Sassy or Silly Sentiment and

BLING BLING BLING!

   And this is my Sassy Card - Take Two!

....For me..it's just one of those kind of days and I'm glad it will be over soon and hoping tomorrow will be MUCH better.  On the upside, Hubby just called and my car, which has been in the shop -- is done and now happily has passed the State Inspection and the 'Service Engine Soon' light is now off!   Woohoo!!

   And on a more serious side---My heart and prayers goes out to all those affected by the terrible weather so many have been experiencing.  I saw some Live Video last night of some terrible tornadoes in Oklahoma and they just kept developing and now today there are severe storm warning out in the area again.  I pray that today will also be better for those folks and that the storms will slow down and be over VERY soon!   Please take care!

Quick and Easy....

 I am really tired today and have zero energy!   I was up too late watching DWTS and part of the new Bachelorette, a show I swear I am NOT going to continue to watch--but one that seems to draw me in, over and over again!   Why?  I'm not sure...I guess deep down because I love the idea of the Fairy Tale Romance and Love story and hope maybe it will happen?      Generally, I'm not much of a TV person and pretty much only watch at night.    I have the TV on often in my craft room, but rarely sit and watch it....too boring for me, I'd much rather be creating.

    But, I admit, I am curious to see who will be the winner of this season of DWTS, and I hope it's Hines.  I think he has done a great job and I give huge credit to Kym, for continuing one, despite her neck injury.  That was so scary and I do hope very much she does not have any long term effects from it.   If you are also a DWTS fan,  I would love to know who you want to see win!

    Because I'm so tired and sore today, I don't have much ambition, but I did manage to create three very easy cards.  I'm also trying to slowly re-organize my craft room and in doing so, I'm finding things in my stash that I want to try again.  This weekend I came across some Stickeroos by Penny Black and they worked out perfect for today's Color Combo Challenge at The Outlawz.   The challenge colors are:

Majestic Violet, Dynamo Pink &  Pineapple Soda
Plus Flowers

  I totally LOVE the violet and pink....and yellow....well it's not my favorite color, but I do use it every now and then and with flowers it works well.   Typically, I do NOT at all like stickers and rarely use them on my projects, but these Stickeroos are amazing and once you mat them and add a bit of bling or glitter, you really would never know they were stickers.  They are perfect for days like today...when I'm very slow moving and don't feel too well.

   Both of these cards were submitted to the challenge and I'm playing only for fun, but I do hope you'll like the cards and see how nice some stickers can actually work out!!

   And this is my second card, which was also created using the challenge colors and another sticker from the same set.
   I also have one more card to share and this too, was created with another Stickeroo set, but in much different colors.  It's also another pretty floral image and also made it super easy to make this card.

   I have one last card today and this was created with two different challenge in mind.   The first is for this week's Copic Coloring Challenge and I invite you ALL to join me.  You can find all the details over at the iCopic Challenge Blog and I have also included a copy of their new challenge image.  I'm so excited to have won last week, and was very happy to play again.  It's always been a challenge I really love!!

iCopic Weekly Challenge

    I have to admit this is a tough one, as advanced shadowing is not a technique I have mastered, but I did my best and using 'C' gray colors to shadow and shade around the coneflowers in this wonderful digi image from 'Wax Fruit Company'.

  This card was also colored and inspired to also work out for the new Color Combo Challenge over at SSC.  This is a copy of the color inspiraiton we had for the new challenge.  These are also some of my favorite colors and it was fun to color this image to make it work out for both!!

  And I think that is going to be it for today!  I really feel sore and I'm overly tired and turning into a bit of a bear.  I also have to drop of my card at the shop shortly, so that hopefully they can finally fix the 'computer' issue tomorrow!   Luckily, I'm home for the next couple of days and I'm more than willing to leave it until it's fixed and I have my new State Inspection sticker!

   Have a great day !!   Happy Crafting!!

A fun way to start my DAY!!

  I had a nice little surprise to start my Monday and it was an email from my friend, Kerry telling me that I had won a Copic Coloring challenge over at iCopic!   Thanks Kerry - you made my day!!

  This is the post from the Challenge site along with the brand new challenge which starts today!    Winner Challenge #30  --  Hello everyone! Samantha here to showcase the winner of the iCopic Weekly Challenge #30!   Everyone's blond hair projects this week were AWESOME!!

The winner, as always, was chosen at random using Random.org.
Lis created this lovely card for our Blond challenge:

 Beautiful creation, Lis and congrats!!!
Lis has won this awesome book:

  My special thanks to iCopic for a fun challenge and a fabulous prize!    Because, I already own this wonderful book, I'm asked iCopic to consider choosing another winner, but instead I was very happy to find out that I could select the new "Copic Coloring Guide" -- by Colleen Schaan and Marianne due out in June.  Woohoo!    I took my very first Copic Coloring class from Colleen and I'm a big fan of her talent.  I've know about the book for the past few months and can't wait to have my own copy!   Again....with Special thanks to iCopic!!

     I had already placed it on my wish list and I am very excited !   This is the new book I will be winning and it can be Pre-Ordered at iCopic now!!!     I love iCopic and I'm happy to be a Gold Member at the store!!

 ~~~~~~
     I'm back to share some new cards I have for today!  The first two cards were created for this week's Greeting Card Challenge over at 'The Outlawz' Group.   The challenge this week is to create a greeting card, with a twist....and the twist is that you can not use any stamp or digi, except for your Sentiment.   These are two cards I had created for the challenge and both were very fast and easy to make.  The papers are both from the Old World Stack by DCWV, which is one of the many Stacks that I have sitting in my paper stash.
    And I have one more card to share and it's one I created today for the challenge that stumped me so much yesterday!!   The CAS Challenge over at The Outlawz was to created a One Layer Card, which I found out, is NOT all as easy as you would thing.  (Please see my post from yesterday, and all the cards I made that id NOT work out).  I am very happy to have finally succeeded  and this is the card that I am submitting to the challenge today!!   WOOHOO!!!
  This was another really fun technique card and I started by picking out a shape that I wanted for my card.  I am in LOVE with my Grand Calibur and now that I have more sets of the Grand Dies I can create some really fun and unique card shapes in a large variety of sizes.   This is the Grand Labels Eleven and is a favorite.  Once I picked out my shape I took a piece of plain white cardstock and stamped and heat embossed my image (another new one from Hero Arts).  I  then used two Distress Stains (Spun Sugar and Fired Brick) and colored the background.  I topped it off by misting on a layer of Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist and then used my heat tool to dry it.  Once it totally dry,  used a Pearl Pen to embellish the flowers a and added a tiny black bow!!   I am now very happy that I have completed this card and happy to be submitting it to each of these fun new challenges!
   Now to be a bit of an enabler -- I wanted to tell anyone who has been interested in purchasing a Grand Calibur that AC Moore has them in their sales ad this week for ONLY $69.99, the best price I have ever seen.  They also have all the Grand Dies for $29.99 -- also a great price.  If you've been thinking of buying one, and have a AC Moore in your area--I would definitely take advantage of the sale!   This price is awesome and as far as I know it is good In-Store only!!   And this is the end of my enabling for the day!!
A Little About Me
My photo
Northeastern, Massachusetts, United States
Purple is my favorite color and ironically - Purple is the Awareness Ribbon color for Fibromyalgia, a chronic illness I lived with for over 18 years. In, March of 2015, I was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer which had spread to my brain. I am fighting hard to win this battle and determined to beat it. I have a amazing Oncology Team, along with the LOVE and SUPPORT of all my family and friends! I am a Mom to two grown sons, Alex is now 25 and married to Acacia, my wonderful new "Daughter" and the parents to my precious Grand-Daughter Harper, and Brian amazingly is 30 and now lives in San Diego. My boys are the greatest loves of my life. Hubby, me and our two "Pups", Skye and Zeva, two adorable Chiweenies we rescued in 2012, all live very happily in a tiny coastal town in Massachusetts. We lost our dear "Scoutie", a Purebred Dachshund, in April of 2015. I still miss him and will forever cherish his memory. I am an avid card-maker and totally love every minute I can spend in my craft room. It's become my passion, a wonderful way to relax and is my form or "therapy".
