We celebrated my Mom's 75th Birthday yesterday at a nice luncheon at Latitude 43, the restaurant where Brian works. It was a really fun day and I think my Mom was very pleased. Our luncheon was fabulous! We had a great time, lots of laughs and delicious food. We all had a drink first, then Mom and my cousins (Gretchen & Jennifer) each ordered some appetizers, I'm tried to stick on my good eating plan, so I passed on the appetizers! LOL! I ordered Lemon Baked Scallops and they are wonderful. My meal came with baked potato and mixed fresh grilled veggies...it's was so very good.
Gretchen had a Sushi dish (they have a fantastic Sushi Pit there), Jennifer had Broiled Halibut and Mom went with the good ole' Haddock Sandwich. Then the girls had another drink (I passed), and as a huge surprise....Brian sent us an entire HUGE tray of decadent desserts 'on him' as our desserts and we celebrated by tasting them all....a superb "homemade" Hot fudge brownie sundae, (the brownie was a hot fudge filled and was amazing...one of the best I have every tasted! There was also a homemade crème brulee and a delicious chocolate torte with fresh lemon and topping...all on a huge dessert platter, with 2 dishes of fresh vanilla ice cream and homemade whipped cream...all adorned with chocolate shavings, fresh strawberries and drizzled in caramel...it's was a sight to see and I WISH, I had only remember to take it picture.
I tasted a bit of everything...actually more than a bit...and it was all SOOOO good! Absolutely delicious...that's all we talked about the rest of the day...the yummy desserts...! Delicious...fabulous and probably a million calories! We had NOT planned on that at all, and I had asked him to simply bring Mom one dessert...and we'd sing...but he went over the top, but it was wonderful!
I did take my camera and took a few pics that I'll add to my page for this week. I hope the come out okay, I still have not downloaded them, we shall see. I wish now that I had thought to take a picture of the desserts, but I simply forget (fibro fog)....!
After our lunch, we went back to my Mom's and sat out in the yard for a bit, (until the showers came)...she opened her gifts and was so happy with everything we gave her. The girls also brought her gifts and fresh flowers too. Today, (her actual birthday), she's already been out to breakfast with her Saturday morning group, and later she has decided now that she just wants to go to Outback and have a quiet dinner, just her and Don.
Her BFF's are also throwing her a Surprise Party/Cookout, on July 12th and she'll be very shocked. I sure after that and all the other little events that has gone on all week, that this will end up being one of her nicest birthdays...nothing to fancy or formal, but nice times...good talks and laughs too. I did take my camera and took a few pics that I'll add to my page for this week. I hope they came out okay!!

Happy Sunday and Happy Father's Day!
And ANOTHER crappy and rainy day here in Massachusetts. It's been the worst June that I think I can ever remember. I sure am happy that I have my crafting or I'm sure I would otherwise be a very happy and bored girl.
I've spend a lot of this week trying to re-arrange and reorganize my Craft Room and it's been kind of fun and kind of like shopping. I've found so many thing tucked away here and there that I have totally forgotten that I had, so that was nice. I'm now trying to come up with an idea of exactly how I want really make it MORE of a craft room and take the den furniture out of there and eventually move that back down to our big Living Room and then get a new desk and workspace and even more my computer up to my craft room. Of course, every thing I like and want is far too much money, LOL...so it will be awhile.
I guess the other good thing about the lousy weather is that I have been keeping with my Project 365 Album and this my page for this week. It's truly ME...and all about how much I LOVE Flip Flops --

and another view...

I have also finished one of the Birthday cards I am making for my Mom. She'll turn 75 on Saturday and there will be a couple different events in honor of the big day, so I still need to make another card for a Surprise Party that her best friends are throwing for her in July. This Friday, Mom my two cousins (Jennifer & Gretchen) and me....are doing a "Ladies" Luncheon at Latitude 43 to celebrate her Birthday, as that's what she wanted. (She had not idea about the party in July). Then on Saturday, Don is taking her out for her Birthday and the party will be a later surprise. This is the card I have done for Friday and now I'm beginning the second one for July.

I still have not totally finished her gifts, but I'm pretty set and just need to wrap them and get that done by Friday. I will be giving her everything on Friday, so that she will not at all suspect a party is to come. Her and Don may go up to NH for the day or Saturday too, so this works out perfect. We'll be at the Restaurant where Brian works, and he's going to arrange for a Surprise dessert and for everyone to sing. I'll bring my camera and pray for a nice sunny day, so we can sit on the outside deck and enjoy our lunch. It should be nice. Just exactly what she wanted and an ALL GIRL family event. Very sweet!

Another week has flown by, it's hard to believe that it's the middle of June. It feels more like early Spring with all this LOUSY weather we have been having...just awful! Too much rain, too cool and too damp for me. I'm so sick and tired of all the rain and cool days. It's hard to believe that school ends tomorrow and that today it's still only in the 50's.
We haven't seen the sun much at all in the last few week, but we did have a nice Saturday. Had I know that was going to be the ONLY good day, I would have spent more time outside and enjoyed the sun. Tomorrow looks promising, but the rest of the week is lousy again.
Thank goodness I have a craft that I LOVE and it's been keeping me busy! I thing otherwise I would want to scream. I worked on a lot of cards this past week and today I did the "A Year In Cards" Challenge from the Two Peas site and these are my completed cards.

At first, I thought I was going to be a hard project, but once I went and watched the Video it was actually quite easy. The cards are little and made for the purpose of hold a gift card. I was happy with them in the end.

I also finished my weekly page for my Project 365 Book. I did it ALL about my new PINK Clarisonic, which is something I had wanted to get for the longest time. Long store short, when we went to the Beauty Bash at QVC in the Spring, JJ, (one of the Beauty MISfits) actually won a PINK Clarisonic and decided she was not going to use it. Knowing how much I wanted one and how I had been searched for a nice low price one on eBay, she offered to sell it to me for a fantastic price. I took the offer immediately and was in Heaven. She's such a sweetie and I was very happy that she decided to sell it. I had asked her if she wanted to sell it when she won, because I thought she already had one...and at first she didn't want to, but after having it for two months and never even opening the box, she knew she wouldn't use it, like I would. I am LOVING it and thrilled. Here is the page I made...it's not showing up so well in the pictures, but is so pretty in person. I did it on PINK Glitter Cardstock and I love it.
And one more view....

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I'm NOT a scrapper and not sure I even attempt many more albums after this. I will still make Alex his album, but other than that...I'm not sure. I'm NOT good at it, at all an despite taking on this challenge, it's not helping me to LOVE it because it feel so rushed to get a page done every week!
I think after this, I made try just a page here and there and not for any specific reason, and then maybe I'll enjoy it and learn better how to make a nice layout!
Well that's about it for today...signing off for now...

Happy Tuesday....
Wow! AM I ever behind on posting here. Things have been good, I've simply been very busy. I had a bad Fibro week too and that always limits my online time, but so far this week, I have been feeling better and I sure hope it'll stay this way.
On Sunday, Alex and I went shopping to get him some new Summer clothes and to pick out a nice shirt and tie for his Senior pictures. I can't believe that he is not even out of school yet and they already has scheduled his pictures for June 19th. The worst part is that they charge so much simply for the sitting fee and you have no idea if you'll even like the pictures. It's kind of crazy, but I remember it being the same way when Brian had his taken. I think the Minimum Fee is close to $50 and that's basically for one or two shot. They go higher from there.
Brian has found a new apartment and will be moving in with a new roommate soon. Hopefully and possibly by this weekend. He's been in his apartment without a roommate for a year now, and it's simply too expensive for him and not worth the price. Plus, he's sick of living in a basement apartment and this new one is bigger and nicer. He won't need all his stuff and a lot of of is musty and yuk from being in that basement apartment and surviving the few floods he had to deal with too. I'm thrilled he'll have a bigger place, a nice outside back deck and also his own washer and dryer and being paying one monthly rental fee. He's moving in with a co-worker from the restaurant and will be paying a flat rent which includes ALL the utilities. The rent is exactly what he pays now, but he also has to pay all his utilities on top of that and it's an expensive apartment to heat. His budget was $165 month, plus electric, phone and internet.
I hope he loves it and I hope he and his new roommate get along well. I'm very happy to see him out of the basement apartment. He did have it fixed up nice, but it's an older apartment and not all that wonderful...a very typical beginner apartment!!
So...that's about it for me! I've been keeping up with my crafts and plan to make some cards today too. These are the last couple of things I have made --

A New Month - Welcome to June!!
And Happy Monday too....
After such a hectic and scary week last week, I am happy that we are moving into a new month. I also hope it will be a nice month, with better days, warmer temps and lots of good things.
Yesterday, I had an excellent day after my DS Brian called me out of the blue to tell me he was coming to pick me up and take me to lunch at the Restaurant where he works. It's a wonderful place right on the water and we had a great lunch and enjoyed it while sitting out on the decks.
Its' called Latitude 43 and this is a link to their Webpage - Click Here!! You'll actually see in some of the pictures the deck where we had lunch. We both had an excellent "grilled haddock" lunch and a Beach Bum cocktail, which is named after Brian. It's actually called Brian's' Beach Bum and is a mix of Tequila, Malibu Rum and Fruit Juices...very, very tasty!
The restaurant is awesome and all the staff was so friendly and nice. I met all his co-workers, the hostess, his partner, the other Assistant Manager, the Sushi Chef and the Main Chef, Zach who is also a good friend of Brian's. Here are some pics I took while we were there --

The place is simply amazing and decorated beautifully. Now that I have been there, I hope to go back often. I had a great time and it was awesome to see who well Brian has moved up there and how much all the other employees and he get along. They all came by our table to meet Brian's Mom and all talked so nicely about him. It made me very, very proud and I just LOVE him for being such a good kid!!

A Little About Me
- ThePurplePlace
- Northeastern, Massachusetts, United States
- Purple is my favorite color and ironically - Purple is the Awareness Ribbon color for Fibromyalgia, a chronic illness I lived with for over 18 years. In, March of 2015, I was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer which had spread to my brain. I am fighting hard to win this battle and determined to beat it. I have a amazing Oncology Team, along with the LOVE and SUPPORT of all my family and friends! I am a Mom to two grown sons, Alex is now 25 and married to Acacia, my wonderful new "Daughter" and the parents to my precious Grand-Daughter Harper, and Brian amazingly is 30 and now lives in San Diego. My boys are the greatest loves of my life. Hubby, me and our two "Pups", Skye and Zeva, two adorable Chiweenies we rescued in 2012, all live very happily in a tiny coastal town in Massachusetts. We lost our dear "Scoutie", a Purebred Dachshund, in April of 2015. I still miss him and will forever cherish his memory. I am an avid card-maker and totally love every minute I can spend in my craft room. It's become my passion, a wonderful way to relax and is my form or "therapy".
