New Braces

Jonas and Jaren both have braces so I figured we would show off their soon to be straight smiles. Jonas only as them on the top right now, the bottom will come later. Now they just need to remmeber to brush, brush, and brush some more.

My "Three Nephites"

Absolutely one of our favorite visitors is Cole Tyler, we have been blessed enough to have him come several times and this summer he came in time to attend our stakes youth conference with Jonas. They needed to dress in Book of Mormon costumes, so this is a picture of my "Three Nephites" all ready to go. Of course after three days without a bath the after picture is a little tired looking and dirty. Love those black toes, although Cole must have doesn't something for his to look so much better. This seemed to be a great experience and just from the highlights I heard a real testimony builder, complete with Christ coming to the Americas at 1:30 am when of course it would be pitch black dark. Thanks Cole for coming! He and Jonas then headed off for EFY in Provo and they were both smiling when I picked them up so I guess it was good.

Isom kids come for a visit

You can see Lagoon from our house and Shelby and I saw our house from the sky ride.
Shelby made this Patriotic Jello for the Fourth of July!

Well, just about everything we did I forgot the camera or it just didn't work to take it. We went to Lagoon, Cherry Hill, Pineview Reservoir,Fireworks, to see Ratatoille (not sure of the spelling), back to Cherry Hill, another movie Transformers with Papa, the Nickelkade in Provo, more Fireworks, and several trips to Artic Circle for ice cream cones. They also helped with Jaren's Eagle project, especially Shelby, but that is another post. Oh, when all the kids were here, we also made an attempt at tie dying, but I am not sure they turned out as well as I would have liked. Of course, I shouldn't forget Garin's solo in primary either, great job, everyone was so impressed that you would do it and feel so comfortable with our primary. We enjoyed every second that they were here and can't wait till they can come again. Janelle took pictures at the lake and I figured that I wouldn't duplicate, so you can check out her blog to see the lake fun.

New pool table

Yippee! We got a new pool table to fill up that huge space at the end of the basement. Garin and Shelby liked to play after a little instruction, not exactly built for small children to use, but these two are tall enough and were super careful. The boys are enjoying it!

Hunter Education

Jonas needed to take the Hunter Education course to hunt this year, so I figured I would take it to. Even though technically I am way to old to have to, since my birthday is before they started requiring them. At our first class I found out that I also needed to pass a shooting test, whoa, wait a minute, I haven't shot a gun for thirty years. But I bucked up and lo and behold I passed, and Jonas and I finished the course with a tied score. It was actually quite interesting and we plan on going to target practice again, especially since we can go just five minutes to this place up on the hill. This is Jonas with his certificate, all ready for the hunt this year.

Service pie

For a mutual activity they did a Service Scavenger Hunt, at Sister Orison's house, the team Jonas was on weeded and planted four flats of flowers. Her grandaughter was visiting and when the youth finished she told her grandma that they should get to take some rhubarb home. So Shauna cut some and gave it to the team. No one really knew what to do with it except Jonas and he jumped on the chance to take it home and use it. Here are his results, a scrumptious Strawberry Rhubarb pie. His dad was very pleased with his efforts! Jaren team actually won a prize, each got a can of cleanser. It was a great activity and they both had the best time as their teams scanned the neighborhood looking for good deeds to do.

Saturn smoothies

Jonas made these Saturn smoothies and wanted to take a picture. They get their name from the garnish. They were yummy for dessert. Jaren made a mango smoothie the next sunday but didn't think it qualified for a picture. They were both wonderful and they have tons more recipes to try.

Spring storm

We got a little spring storm which was a delight and we were excited to get. We had put out a bird feeder and Jonas and I got a kick out of nothing seemed to stop the birds. They have kept us busy refilling it and we now have finches, doves, quail, and some really cute little blue buntings. The hail came in the evening and as we were in the kitchen it sounded like we were in a popcorn popper so we checked out what was happening and found 1/2 inch hail on the back deck. That is the largest hail we have ever seen so we took a picture. I might add, I hope not to see any bigger!

Mother's Day

Jenna and Casey had just moved back to Provo before Mother's Day so they came up for dinner. It was great to see them and of course thanks to all my wonderful children who took the time to call and send cards, this mom greatly appreciated it.

Easter eggs

No matter how old the boys get, I still can't resist dying eggs. These are the only pictures I remembered to take at Easter. The boys dyed an egg for each person with their name on it for place markers. Grandma Goodner, Grandpa Goodner, and Great Grandma Gigi came for dinner and we had a great day and they loved the eggs the boys did for them.

Jonas' Birthday

Happy 15th Birthday to Jonas, we celebrated with his favorite cake and he couldn't wait to dig in!

Spring is Here!

We didn't have much of a winter, just real cold in January and not much snow. But a Hyacinth I planted after last Easter came up and smelled Heavenly. The cherry orchards were also in full bloom and I thought this was a cool shot with the church building behind the orchard. The cherries will be ready in July and we buy them from a little stand which is called the "Cherry Pit", they set it up right by the road and they are delicious. We can hardly wait!
