Jace and I got back last night from an over 2 weeks trip to Salt Lake. I can't believe it has come and gone that quickly, however it seemed like an eternity to be away from J and home. My Mom and Grandma had to have surgery around the same time (they live together) so
Jace and I thought we'd go help out in any way we could. We may have ended up causing more excitement and chaos that they needed, but it was great spending time with everyone. We spend all day
everyday over there and usually visited friends and the rest of our family at nights. Needless to say,
Jace got little sleep, I got little sleep, and the people who needed rest more than anyone, my mom and
Gma, ended up entertaining a 2 year old more than anything. Oh and I didn't do my hair once the entire trip. Thank goodness for long hair and buns. Here are some highlights from our getaway.
We left the day before
Jace's 2
Nd Birthday to take advantage of the airline rules. The Sunday before we left I decided to quickly throw a cake together so J and I could celebrate our little guy as a family. (This was a last minute trip or else I hope I would have had more planned and done a better job on the cake.) He loved the football cake and licked up all the frosting on his piece.
Forgive the simpleness and everything else!
When we flew to Salt Lake, it was during his normal nap time and
Jace has never not had a nap since the day he was born. He is one who needs sleep whether he thinks he does or not. Within minutes of being picked up from the airport, he was out!
Here is the Birthday Boy on his Birthday. His blowing skills are my favorite.
I was able to visit an old friend who just had a baby Boy.
Cher was a
roomie in college and Andrea and I had a great visit with her.
I look horrendous in this picture, but the kiddies look too cute to not include it.
Hug goodbye, till next time. Little Lucy kept trying to hug
Jace while he gave her his version of a hug which is "the lean in".
Uncle Chris came in town while we were there and he has always been a favorite of
Jace's.
Here is a
reenactment of a picture of J when he was a little boy. Once I get the original I'll do a post on it.
Probably 70% of the time we spend on my mom's was spent being entertained by my Grandma Brown.
Jace wanted her attention all the time. He would bring every toy into her room to just play by her even if she was resting or asleep. If he wanted her to wake up, he would stand right next to her and say, "Wake up!" "Good Morning" or "Hi". She said she loved it, but she got no rest at all until I made him come do something with me.
Proof of little sleep happening. He got his blankets and tried to take a nap on her floor.
Jace's cousin Belle was so good to
Jace. She loved playing in his pack 'n play and making forts over it.
Jace squealed the entire time. Belle would ask me
every time we got home if she could go up and play in there.
Our future musician enjoying playing the piano at Nana B's (my moms).
Jace would ask for a snack in this specific cup every day and take it in to Grandma's to snack with her.
Here is another friend that I haven't seen in years and years. Thanks Jess for taking the time to come to my mom's to see me.
My brother Dan, his wife Beka, me, Andrea, and her husband Kyle. Kyle was also the favorite of Jace's. He would ask for him every day and then tell me he was at work. Jace would play with him forever too.
Another old friend and old roommate Megan. She is a twin too. Thanks Meg for the visit. It is fun to be able to not see
each other in who knows how long and still be able to relate about
everything and still feel close.
One of many cousin baths. Side note:
Jace had a hard time with little baby cousin Nixon (right) this trip. He is getting bigger and I think
Jace felt a bit threatened. When we told him Nixon was going to get in the bath he said, "No". So I told him it was Nixon's turn so
Jace needed to get out since he'd been in a while. I got his diaper on then
Jace said, "
Jace's turn" and asked to get back in. I did let him and he immediately told all of us, "Nixon out". We laughed and they all stayed in and had fun.
One of a few visits seeing my Dad and Anne and
Jace's friend Scooter. He is getting a great cheesy smile.
Thanks to everyone for putting up with us while we intruded for way too long on all of you. You were all so very hospitable and took such good care of us. We miss you all already.
