Halloween 2009

As we all know, Jace has a serious obsession with most cars. His current specific obsession is fire trucks. This has been going on for a few months now. Back in August, J found the cutest Fireman costume for Halloween. I was so excited and so was Jace. He would bring it out to our random guests to show them. I put it in the back closet for safe keeping a decided to put it on him a couple weeks ago to make sure it fit right. Well, it didn't. It was HUGE....and really heavy. I thought about altering it, but quickly decided it was out of my realm of sewing abilities to do so. I then turned to Jace and asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween. That day, we had been to a store and had taken a stroll down the Halloween isle. With great hesitation he was drawn to the skeletons and witches over and over again. He was terrified but deeply happy at the same time. I couldn't tell whether to comfort him or continue pushing the buttons as he continually demanded that I do. Well, without question Jace decided that he wanted to be a skeleton for Halloween and nothing could change his mind. What better way to work through your fears then to become one of them. We found a great costume and he loved it. Our Halloween celebrations began a week earlier at a Halloween Party a cute friend had. Jace got to wear his Skeleton costume for the first time. This picture cracks me up because everyone is so happy and then there is this little creepy skeleton in the middle. I love it.

Then Friday at his school, Jace got to have a huge Halloween Party where he got to wear his shirt he had made there. He came home with so many goodies in a bag he had decorated and a present from his teachers.

Friday night was our ward Trunk-or-Treat. It was amazing. They had food, games, jumping castle things, and a great turn out for trick or treating. I love the mid air picture even though I wish we could see his face.
Friends from church.
Lots of candy.
Here is Jace's favorite babysitter, Emily. He loves her. She was so cute dressed up as Cinderella. There are more pictures to come from the ward party, I had to borrow my friends camera after mine decided to run out of battery.
On Saturday, actual Halloween, he put on his costume one more time and took some pictures before heading off to Sugar Land's Town Center for a Halloween Party and trick-or-treating at the stores.

There was a huge turn out and we got to see some friends there. Here is Jace seeing his friend Kasiana. He put on his mask to show her and she just giggled at him. He is pointing to his eyes probably telling her that he could see out of these holes.

We trick-or-treated around the stores for a while.

J said Kasiana grabbed Jace's hand and pulled him from store to store. I love them.
Then we all decided we were starving and wanted to eat so we did.
Then we headed back to do some neighborhood trick-or-treating together. They both loved the idea of getting candy at each house and were very good and saying "Trick -or-Treat" really loud, even if no one answered.
Jace called this very decorated house the Halloween House and kept saying, "It isn't scary, it is a fun Halloween house." If he says it out loud, he thinks he'll believe it.
They rode around from house to house in the wagon and loved it. We had such a great time and Jace will I'm sure ask to wear his costume again very soon.
I LOVE HALLOWEEN. I think it is so fun for the kids. Can't wait till next year.

I'VE BEEN SPOILED

I've had family here and haven't felt like blogging. Andrea and Kyle came for a week long visit towards the end of August. We had a great time hanging out and seeing Houston. Jace was very entertaining the entire time. Here he is playing his favorite guitar and dancing to music. This is when he is the happiest. One morning he came out of my room dressed up like this. He called himself a firefighter with "fire gloves" and "fire shoes". Of course we went to an Astros Game and had a great time.
On the way home, Jace was cold so I wrapped my jacket around him. What a sweetie.
We also took a trip up to see the Houston Temple. It was Jace's first time and he was so happy there. He kept talking about Heavenly Father and Jesus living there and wanted to go inside. I told him that when he gets bigger he can go inside.

He especially loved all the water fountains.

I promise Andrea and Kyle were there with us too. For some reason I figured since they were taking pictures with there camera I didn't need to get some of them with mine.
I told Jace it was really special to be able to touch the temple. When it was time to go, he asked again to go inside first and I had to remind him again that he had to wait till he got bigger. Then in a sigh he said, "Ok, I guess Heavenly Father is sleeping."

Then on the drive home he realized that he lost his little frog he was carrying around there. I said, maybe we left it at the temple. He said, "It's okay, Heavenly Father has it." I absolutely love him to pieces. He says the sweetest things.
That night we took a drive down to Kemah, TX to visit the boardwalk and hang out with the music, rides, and fun. This was the highlight for Jace.

Checking out the water, the boats, and the fish below.

Love the Train. Ever since we rode the train and went in a tunnel with the fake people shooting at each other, Jace is obsessed with guns. Great!
Cute Annie and Kyle.
Ha ha. I guess he got bored waiting for the train to finally go. We had such a great visit with them here and I hated them going home.

My good friend Stephanie and her David ended up moving just a few days ago. We had to get a few more play dates in first though. Here are Ashley and Jace jammin' together in their little band.
Later that week we (Mckell, Marci and I) through Stephanie and David a surprise party so we could all get together again before they left. My mom had just got in town and helped us out a lot.All the girls and most of the kiddos. (Missing Johnny and Ella) We had such a fun time visiting and are really going to miss the Fitzgibbons a lot.
Later that night before they went home, Jace and Ashley were acting so silly and had to model their new backpacks for their preschool this year. They were going to be in the same class, but better things came their way, so plans changed.
I LOVE this one.
And this one too.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!
He was so excited.

Daddy took him his first day, I couldn't do it.
Walking to his classroom. He barely looked back to say bye to Daddy. He went straight to the excavator and all the fun toys. He doesn't even say goodbye anymore at all. He is loving it and asks to go everyday. I am not so much loving him being there, but I'll give it some time.
My mom stayed for a full 2 weeks and besides these school pictures, I failed to take anymore. I must have enjoyed her here way too much. She left over the weekend and it was a really hard goodbye. She is my best friend and I loved being with her all day long.

Yesterday was JJ's 32nd Birthday. Happy Birthday Sweetie. I love you and thank you for all you do for our family. He decided to go to Benihana for his dinner, and thought Jace would just love it. He did.
Especially his chef hat.

With all the family we've had here, I feel empty without them. I guess it is time to take a trip home. I WISH.
