Do I look like my Daddy or What?

I don't think any of you would argue that Jace is looking more like JJ everyday. See for yourself.

Let's call this "Displeased"

Quite frequently, close friends, family and also strangers in public comment on how expressive Jace is. I like to watch his facial expressions to try and decide his feelings at the moment. Without a doubt, this picture captures his expression of Displeasure. How dare does mommy take a picture of him with food all over his body instead of picking him up. I just love this little guy.

One more Try....

For those of you who attended the surprise party well "Attempted" surprise party for JJ in SLC, you know that our clever antics to keep it from him weren't so clever. He disclosed his knowledge of the secret on the way over to the party. I was therfore determined to try one more time to truly surprise him for his birthday party. This time I invited a few close friends from our old ward here in Houston and with the help of my our friends the Fitzgibbons, I succeeded. I thought I would share part of the invitation that I used for the surprise. Even with decorations hanging and people jumping out from behind walls and couches yelling "Surprise", JJ didn't realize anything was different because his eyes were immediately focused on the football game playing on the tv when he walked in. His focus on sports is a force to be reckoned with.

Remember my Girlfriends?

Jace got to hang out with his two girlfriends again last Saturday night. We decided to try a photo shoot on my friend Mckell's love sac but they were all over eachother and it didn't make for a happy experience overall. My other friend Marci did a great job trying to make the babies smile for the picture. These make me smile. Jace went from Happy, to Concerned, to "Help!".

What about Me?

My little guy has decided that whenever anyone else is eating it is his turn to eat too. I think the picture shows his eating personality so well.

Why do I Buy Toys?

Yesterday I left Jace in his room while I put some laundry in and I came back and found Jace with the wipes. I think he would have emptied the entire package had I let him. It was just so fun to watch!

Surprise!!!!!

The main reason we took a quick trip to Salt Lake over the long weekend was to Surprise JJ with a 30th Birthday Celebration. Family, friends and I thought we were being so sneaky but he seemed to put little pieces and excuses together and figured it out on the way to the party. He just couldn't make sense of why we were having my family dinner at a clubhouse and why his family was all leaving to do different things at the same time. Ha ha. I guess next time we'll have to play it even more safe and just not say anything. I think he was still surprised to see so many of his friends there that he didn't expect. I love surprising him. Click on the picture and view the many party pictures.

A Welcomed 30 Minute Nap

As most of you know, Jace fights sleep unless he is comfortable in his own bed by himself and in a quiet dim room. We were curious to see how he would do on the long flight to Utah. Well, he did quite well if we continued feeding him banana puffs, replaying Baby Einstein, and letting him drink as much water as he wanted from his sippy cup. About 1/3 the way there we could tell he was sooo tired. He would often tease us and lay his head down on my shoulder for about 30 seconds then get a new burst of energy that would last another 10 minutes. That cycle continued at least 7 more times. Finally about 30 minutes before we landed (lets see that is the entire 3 hour flight plus an hour we sat on the plane before taking off and the hour he spent excited saying Hi to everyone in his stroller in the airport that he was awake)he layed his head down and was literally out in 20 seconds. He probably didnt mean to give up but his body had another plan. It only lasted about 30 minutes but that 30 minutes was lovely. I love holding a sleeping baby Jace. So does JJ. Notice his long hair in back and his cute hands.
