Getting Crafty

I thought I would make a quick post to actually prove that i make things that I pin on pinterest. So here is proof

These ribbon flowers were so fun to make. I made 7 in about two hours, then I had to mail a couple to my sister who was too sweet and gave us the most awesome gift basket full of a fun family night.

DeRiah also made the girls these adorable hats. I LOVE the cute flowers on them. I have to say, seeing my little sister grow up and get married has made me realize how fast time flies, and how badly I miss spending time with her and the rest of my family.

I also decided to attempt to make a pencil skirt from a pair of maternity pants that are too big for me...
That didn't turn out. HAHA!
I guess we all have our failures...

And Successes:

I made this adorable flower from the pockets of those maternity pants. Yes, the pockets!!! So cutting up the pants wasn't a total waste I guess

Links for the flowers : Here ... and I can't find the other one... guess I didn't pin it.

Oh, and I chopped off my hair...

Well, a few inches anyway.

Toothfairy Traditions

We have turned a new and exciting corner at our house as Jarom lost his first tooth! and then his second one FIVE days later!
His first tooth was loose for almost a month before we decided to help the process along a little. On the second day of seeing his tooth hanging by a thread, and worring that he might swallow it in his sleep, I convinced him to let me tie a piece of floss to it and pull it out. I had no sooner cinched the floss around his tooth, than he decided he wasn't okay with this idea any more, and he wanted the floss off.
Not possible.
But I didn't tell him that. Instead I told Thayne to take the string off (secretly motioning to him to just pull the tooth.) I knew if Jarom realized what we were going to do he wouldn't let us anywhere near his mouth. So Thayne, being the awesome dad that he is, took hold of the floss, and with a single pull (actually it was more like a half-pull because the tooth was practically out anyway) was left holding the floss with a tooth dangling from the end.

Then came the ear piercing scream that Jarom does so well (usually when he thinks he is in pain) when he realized his tooth was gone.

Then the nervous laughter, realizing it really didn't hurt...

And his tooth was out!
Then the EXCITEMENT hit! And he needed to tell everyone, especially Nana.
His second tooth went something like this...
Five days later:
Jarom: "Mom, my tooth is really loose. I can wiggle it with my lips, tongue and teeth."
(It was barely hanging on)
Mom: "Do you want me to tie a string on it?"
Jarom: "NO WAY!"
Not five minutes later, Jarom walks over and spits a small puddle of bloody saliva on the table beside me... and a tooth."
Jarom: "Mom, my tooth fell out."

Next came the excitement of the toothfairy!

I don't know what the toothfairy does at everyone else's house, but at our house she brings money folded into something amazing. For his first tooth she brought Jarom a fighter jet (which I might add, she will probably never attempt to create again).

And for his second tooth, she (or possibly her husband) created a cool shirt and tie! Thank goodness there is probably going to be a short break before anymore teeth fall out in this family, or the toothfairy would probably go broke.
But I have to say, it has been a fun week for us, one in which Thayne and I have both smiled at each other and enjoyed the fun of starting new traditions in our family. Including the super cool monster tooth pillow I made with a pocket to hold the tooth. :)

I'm telling you, having kids is so much more fun than anyone could imagine!
(Yes, I know Phoenix's pajamas are on wrong side out ... and yes I'm okay with it. She has just learned how to dress herself.)

Speaking of Phoenix - This is her favorite thing to do. She asks Thayne all the time to "Make my face funny."

So he does.

It always gets a laugh.

It's a ...

BOY!!!
We were excited to find out yesterday that we are indeed having a boy! And we couldn't be more excited!

We told the kids that we had a surprise for them inside the box. The surprise would tell them if we were going to have a baby boy or a baby girl. If the surprise was PINK the baby was a girl. If the surprise was BLUE then the baby was a boy.

The moment Jarom saw that the balloons were BLUE he yelled out, "IT'S A BOY!!! I KNEW IT! My dreams came true!"

He is now dreaming of Bunkbeds and all the fun he will have with a little brother.
