BBQ Curiosity

With Thayne being in school, I have lately found myself doing many things that he normally does for me. One of those is grilling. I never thought it took much to make that burger tast just so, but apparently, I was wrong. This is Thayne's Hamburger:

And, This is how he makes it:
1: Thaw hamburger in the fridge overnight.
2: Mix in a delicious blend of seasonings, one egg, and shape into 4 patties.
3: Turn on grill, and heat to exactly 300 degrees.
4: Place patties on grill, and cook for 7 minutes.
5: Flip Hamburger, top with cheese and cook 3-5 minutes longer.
6: Remove from grill, place on bun and top with tomatoes, onions, lettuce, pickles, and condiments.
7: Receive praise for the delicious meal.

This is my Hamburger:

And this is how I made it:
1. Buy the cheap pre-made hamburger patties because they were on sale (don't pay attention to the fat content - mistake number 1)
2. Heat grill for a few minutes, and place mostly frozen patties on grill that is most definetly too hot - mistake number 2
3. Turn grill down.
4. Rush inside to find a pile of cereal on the kitchen floor where Jarom has dumped the entire box trying to get a "snack" and find him in the living room eating out of his heaping bowl.
5. Procede to clean up the cereal mess as fast as possible, and then rush outside to flip the burgers (thankgoodness they aren't burnt yet).
6. Hurry inside to get Jarom out of the fridge and take away the bunch of grapes that he is downing as fast as he can pull them off the stem.
7. Make Taysia a bottle and rush back outside to check on the hamburgers. (It couldn't have been more than 3 minutes.)
8. Open the door to see the garage completely filled with smoke, and flames coming out the bottom of the grill.
9. Lift the lid on the grill to three foot flames, and tiny little black spots that were once hamburgers.
10. Turn off grill, place hamburgers on plate and try to put the flames out.
11. Show Jarom the burgers, and get a disgusted look as he responds, "YUCKY!"
12. Serve cold cereal with bananas for dinner.
