It's time for a change...
Do you ever feel like you are in a rut? You have goals that keep getting put off "until tomorrow" or "after the weekend". I feel like I have been in a rut since Ella has been born. There have been times when I start to accomplish my goals, but then I fall back into old habits. Part of my problem is that I am an "all or nothing" girl. If I can't accomplish them all, then I might as well not accomplish any of them. I pretty much set myself up for failure... and then I feel horrible that I am so weak that I can't accomplish my goals. It's FRUSTRATING being me sometimes. I have finally come to the conclusion that I need to take baby steps. I have given myself two goals... and two goals only.
My first goal is to study my scriptures everyday. How many times have we been told that great blessings will come as you read your scriptures..... and still, I sometimes "can't find the time" (but I can find time to read blogs...... blogs of people I don't even know).
I can tell you that my entire "rut" stems from not being consistent with this. As I look over periods in my life, I can see how doing this one simple thing works miracles. When combining scripture study with prayer, I become more intuned with the spirit, which helps with EVERYTHING......patience, inspiration on parenting, making my "weaknesses" become my strengths, receiving personal revelation on how to direct my life, resisting temptation, and most of all a feeling of peace and happiness in my heart and home.
Goal # 2. Go to bed earlier. I need to be in my bedroom by 10pm. It is rare for me to get eight hours of sleep. I know some people need less than that, but I NEED eight hours. In the morning, I am usually awakened by a demanding Ella..... I am soo tired that it is hard to get moving. I usually pour her a bowl of cereal and flop myself on the couch, in hopes that I can snooze for 15 more minutes. Then I drag through the rest of the morning... it is hard for me to act patient and loving when I am so tired, and it snowballs from there... too tired to workout etc. Not to mention the health benefits of getting a good nights rest (better skin, better able to handle stress, better appetite control, etc.).
Ok- it's 10PM. Time for me to get to bed. Hasta luego.

We went to a fun Halloween party for the kids, and then trick or treating. Notice Kaden's head full of sweat. They were RUNNING, full speed from house to house. We finally had to catch up and tell them to slow down.

Hailey with Lauren and Meghann. These girls are a year older than Hailey, but she loves to hang with them.
Hope you had a Happy Halloween!
