Christmas. Part One.

We pretty much had the most amazing and magical Christmas ever.  These pictures are from after Christmas Day....when we picked up Kathy from the airport and we headed up to Oroville for Christmas 2.0....then headed back down to the Bay Area for the BYU bowl game...and then headed back up to Oroville to finish out our Christmas break.  Yes, it was exhausting.

The kids needed a place to run around and so we spend some time at the church.
Pacen is basically the cutest big brother ever.

CHRISTMAS 2.0
Right after Christmas 2.0 and dinner, we headed back to the bay.  Than was asked by our friend in the Stake Presidency if he wanted to be the chorister for the BYU Football and of course he said, "Heck yes!"  It was a good fireside and Than was a fabulous chorister.  And he got to rub shoulders with the players…which seems to happen all the time but it is still fun every time.
Kathy selfies.
Really guys….nice smiles!

We spent the day of the bowl game in the city.
First stop….Mission Dolores park!

Only in SF. :)

Great day in the city.  You gotta love where you live!
And playing with Kathy is the best ever!

We had some delicious pizzeria delfino and Bi-rite ice cream, went around union square, and then headed to the game.
Sadly, BYU lost and it was pretty pathetic.  But we had a good time!

You really can't have a bad time at ATT Park!

Driving with my babe.

I took this an another picture I can't find at Hillary's shower.  This was a staple Pace kid meal at Cornucopia's. The French Dip----Delicious!

All the cousins worked really hard to put on a Talent Show.  They went to the church and practiced and practiced…becca was their stage helper and choreographer.  It was amazing!

Then it was time to have some Girls vs. boys Steal the Bacon in the dark.

The Girls:
And the boys.  You can tell how excited they were to take a picture. :)
You can imagine that the game ended in tears since the game was….steal the bacon….IN THE DARK!

This was a drawing Camry made for Becky.  It has every grandchild….even unborn baby Cougar!

We did get to visit with a few friends this trip.  I love our Oroville friends.  We really are blessed to still be friends with each other.

Winter Solstice

Every year in kindergarten they celebrate the Winter Solstice.  It's the way that they can have a winter celebration that has nothing to do with Christmas. :)  Everyone wakes up before the sun, dresses up super warm and heads out to the open space.  From there all the kindergarteners and teachers and parents meet up and hike out to a special tree and sing for the sun to come up.  Needless to say, Claira was soooooooooooooooo excited about it.  She is excited about everything and this was no different.  She went to bed early and had all of her warm clothes set out and woke up and got ready without any complaints.  And off we went!
I do have to say that this is a really cool event but it's also really hard to figure out how to deal with the rest of your family while you are off galavanting around the open space at 6:00 am.  Than was supposed to be out of town so that left me trying to find someone to help.  I ended up asking Margaret who is in our ward and never had any kids of her own but is close to our family.  And she said yes and I was just so happy to have people around us that would help us out in that type of situation.  Luckily, Than's flight to Utah was canceled due to weather and so he was home which made it much easier.  The other option would be to bring everyone.....and even I would NEVER do that!
 Ready to hike!
All I had was my iphone so the pictures are less than fabulous.  We all hiked and sang our little hearts out.

After the hike, everyone heads back to the school for pot luck breakfast.  It really is a fun activity and I'm glad that we go to a school that does such fun things and has fun traditions.  It makes school fun and memorable even if it is hard to get everything organized.

After the hike, I came home and made the sugar cookies for our traditional christmas cookie extravaganza!  Seriously what a hot mess my house was!
But Christmas is magical so it's all worth it.

Sunday at 9:44pm.

I just sent off a few emails that I've been neglecting that were too long to write with my phone.  Its funny because I get mad at my computer when I spell something completely wrong and it just doesn't auto correct it.
**We watched the superbowl with our neighbors, the Casey's, today.  Broncos vs. Seahawks and the broncos were destroyed!  My heart was sad for John Elway but my heart was happy for my dad because that was his team!  They were always so terrible growing up I had no idea why he even cheered for them.  I ate a lot of terrible food....why do I do that to myself?!?!
**Maren is so close to walking!  LIke any day for reals!  She is so close and I feel like she's so ready that on the day she finally takes a step she'll just start running and then I'll really never be able to keep up with her.
**And she turns one on Saturday!  I am so completely obsessed with her and pretty much everyone else is too.  She is so friendly with people it's almost obnoxious.  It's like....yes, Maren, you are super cute with all your blabberings and how you nod yes at everyone and how you wave and smile and respond to everyone's questions.  But I can't get enough and now she is "dancing" and it's pretty much the cutest thing ever.
**Pacen had his last basketball game this weekend and it was brutal to watch.  His team this year was really not that great but he had a good season and was the star of his team so that was a lot of fun to watch.  We have a few weeks off and then baseball season is here.  He did have his first try out last Saturday and did pretty well.  Camry and Claira are both pumped for baseball this year too.  Spring should be fun!
**Today was so cool because all of the state of California was asked by the church to fast and pray for rain.  And guess what.....it rained today!  And I see at least one day of rain in the forecast so hooray!   Prayers are answered!  It was the first time we had ever made the kids fast (just Pacen and Camry) and it was really cool to see it raining and have their little testimonies of fasting and prayer begin.
**Friday night Than and I went on a date to our favorite 25 dollar Chinese foot massage place.  Oh my gosh....best date ever!
**And basically this weekend was the be lazy and watch movies and the Super Bowl weekend because we watched two movies this weekend....The Butler and Captain Phillips....and that never happens!  But now I feel like an addict.  I forgot how much I like watching movies since we watch TV shows more often now.
**I had lots of doctor's appointments this week and it's been good.  My body has been flaring a lot and I've been in some pain so I started with my Rheumatologist and then she recommended a podiatrist and physical therapist for my achilles.  The PT was amazing and actually referred me to another PT that has more RA knowledge and the podiatrist recommended that I get orthotics to help correct my pronate feet that may be causing my to put added pressure on my ankles, thus causing increased inflammation.  We've started the process so we'll see where it takes us.
**I need to go to bed.  Small and steady I say.  I will get back onto this blogging thing.

**Here are pictures of two weeks ago when I was driving to return something to Athleta but then i just thought...why not take Gentry and Maren to do something fun instead??!  So we went to Habi-tot in Berekely and played for a while and then went to run the errands.  We both got to have our fun!

But really if I had planned this I would have combed her hair and not let her wear those big old boots!

Maren is very curious about the world and is learning to play with the best of them.

Gentry's art.
I love that we live in an area where I can just randomly do about a million cool things with my kids.  I need to be better about it and just make sure to take advantage of all that this area has to offer.
Gentry was checking herself out in the window.  She's a good little shopper.
She's a pretty good lunch buddy.

These are pictures from just hanging out in the yard a few weeks ago.  I love our yard.  WE are so blessed to live in our house in this area and I need to make sure that I remind myself of that when I start complaining about no closet space and no mudroom and laundry room.

Claira learned to pump herself on the swings!  Good job, babe!  This is a pretty awesome accomplishemnt!

Maren is a climber now.  WAtch out world.
Gentry pie is almost always in costume these days.

 STANDING!

Cam is a great big sister.

We just live in a beautiful place where we can sit outside on the grass in January.  I put this is IG and someone commented...she is just a real life doll!  And she totally is.  I love her crazy teeth and cute belly.
Although what I'm not loving is that she is refusing naps!  Like three days in a row she has just talked and played through her nap and it's just weird because she is a baby!  And babies nap!   But she isn't upset and throwing a fit when she's up and it is kind of nice because I have been putting her down at like 6:15 for the night which makes life a little easier but seriously.......you need to remember to nap, Maren!
