Our American Idol

Thanks for the picture, Mike! This is David Archuleta (sp?)- he made it to Hollywood last night on American Idol. He is from Murray, Utah and he's 16. About a month ago, I got to accompany him on the piano for a funeral. He is an AMAZING singer and I was so excited to see him on American Idol! So, watch and vote for him. Make sure to tell Grandma T. because she is a dedicated American Idol fan and she calls and calls to vote (I've witnessed the calling - it's awesome!). GO DAVID!

Material Girl

I know you all love this song. I remember making up roller skating dances to it and "That's what friends are for" in our unfinished basement. Good times. Today I got a new feeling for "material girl" when my son sang with all his might: "some boys kiss me, some boys SNUGGLE me, I think that's OK." I laughed and then corrected. How did my 4 year old hear and memorize this song? From DDR at Grandma Pams. It's amazing what they pay attention to! sigh.

PS - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR MATERIAL BOY, ZAK! HAVE A GREAT DAY!

JURY DUTY

I got called to jury duty for the first time ever, last month. I went in December to find out that I might be put on the jury for a murder trial and that it could last up to 5 weeks. They had us fill out a questionaire that had 350 questions in it. A lot of the questions were about our opinions on the death penalty, religion, race, and if we knew anyone related to the case. I knew I did NOT want to be on this jury, so I answered some of the questions a little too honestly. For instance, the question was: Because this man has been charged with the crime, do you probably think he is guilty? YES, duh. I could've said that I was racist against hispanics to not get chosen, but obviously I'm not, look at my husband and son... It was pretty crazy and a lot of the questions were things I've never had to think about, so I did my best.

I got called back last week for an interview. The interview was with all of the lawyers, the judge and the DEFENDANT. Yes, the creepy man himself. I had to sit in a small room with all of these people and explain why I had answered the questions the way I did. I was a nervous idiot. I just wanted to say, I have no opinion, just let me go home and live in my little bubble of comfort, please!!! The defendants lawyer was really NOT nice to me and made me feel like the judgemental, death penalty activist that I must be deep inside. It was really uncomfortable when they asked me if I could give this man, and they pointed to the defendant, the death penalty. I said, if he deserves it! ugh. By the way, the defendant is SOOOO creepy. After they were done tearing me apart, I had to wait in the hall for them to decide if they wanted me coming back or not, and I overheard the bailiff telling someone that this is the worst crime they have seen in 20 years. GREAT! They asked me to come back for one final interview.

So, I went, yet again, to the court house yesterday, and sat in the courtroom along with 30 other potential jury members, lawyers, judge, and creepy and waited for 3 hours for them to choose the jury. 14 our of the 30 were chosen and heaven helped me because they didn't call my name. RELIEF!! I am SO happy that I don't have to see and hear the details of this case.

I have to thank Lenny, because I put on the questionaire that my cousin was a bad-A member of the LV SWAT team and they seemed a little worried about that. HA!

Apparantly, Floyd (aka creepy guy) and 2 teenagers, broke into the home of a 75 year old lady, killed her & abused her in horrible beyond horrible ways, and then stole her purse. They then went to another elderly ladies home and hurt her and stole her purse, too. She is still alive and testifying as I type. WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO? Anyways, I'm glad I can be home with my kids today. yea!
