A Little Bird Told Me....

Shorties
So, I TOTALLY love when little girls have short bobs. I think it makes them look so cute and put together. I am not criticizing you all who want your girls to have long hair, but I get so sick of seeing scraggly, messy, tangled long hair. I was growing Sophie's out for a long time, and it NEVER looked good. The minute we cut it off her self esteem went through the roof. But around my house, there was a compromise. Dad, being the one that wanted at least one girl to have long hair, won the battle, so Jada's grew out long-ish. Well Saturday, I won all the hair battles and choppy-chopped Jada's hair too. And I LOVE the results. It helps that my mom is totally amazing at the hair cutting thing.
6 inches bye bye

2010
As I sit and think of all the ups and downs this year has brought us, I get a little emotional. I am not going to turn this into a self deprecating post and tell you how I set goals and fell short. I am going to avoid the what if's and look ahead to 2011. I wasn't so much a fan of 2010. It was much of the same. The daily grind so to speak. I plugged away in school, went to the gym, had good times with friends and family, and had some tears intermixed with very happy times.
2011 has A LOT in store for our family. There are still several things that remain unknown. Am I going to return to work and do school at the same time? Do I pursue an LVN certification? Or do I do the whole one-class-at-a-time thing in pursuit of my RN? Do the changes that are always occurring at Bank Of America lead to a brighter future for Nick? Do we get to drive to Utah this summer and visit for the first time in 5 years? Or do we visit Disneyworld and Nicks brother's family in Florida? How do we handle a ton of guests for Sophie's baptism in April? Am I going to ACTUALLY lose the nagging weight? Am I ACTUALLY going to go to the temple on a monthly basis? Are we ACTUALLY going to finally start getting out of debt. (If you can't tell, these are the usual resolutions.)
I am really good at setting lofty goals, but when it comes to achieving, I ALWAYS fall short. That is what I am going to change in 2011. I am going to do one thing at a time. First and foremost, I am going to get on a better spiritual plane. When that is mastered (wink wink), it will allow EVERYTHING else to fall into place. Yep, that's it. Increase temple attendance and scripture study....lose weight. Sounds great!
I love my Savior. I love my family. I love my neighbors. I love my friends. I love my home. I love my husband. I have a good life and for that, I am eternally grateful. Bring it on 2011.
