Here's how it goes in our ward at church - all the American School kids get out of school and start partying for summer at a reasonable time, in June. All of the poor international school and Dutch school kids are stuck in school until July. JULY! So we sing...
Oh what do you do in the summer time when all the world is green?
Do you swim in a pool OR are you stuck in school
Till the middle of JULYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Is that what you do? So do I!
Actually, part of me has come to love the easy breezy super quick 6 week summer. No one has a chance to get bored, they don't forget everything they learned in school, and we don't have this big crazy back to school prep feeling that we used to have. It's just like an extra long Christmas break. Yes, the 6 week break I can handle. Waiting until the middle of JULY for it is the hard part. Here's how we have kept on keeping on...
Riding bikes - here's the "parking lot" pickup at after school
