Butterfly picks ....for Stephie

Stephie, Little Red Wagon Studio, hosted a swap over at Your Paper Pantry this month for handmade butterfly picks.  These little cuties can be used in your potted plants, altered items, mixed media projects or even in your scrapbook pages. I really don't have any potted plants because sadly I haven't a green thumb and neither does Shaun..lol.  Out of luck there!  But I made a few for the swap because I do love butterflies and I thought it was a marvelous idea! I think I might use mine for my little altered baby shoe that is in the works. I used a butterfly cuttlebug die and die cut several different text and music papers along with some burlap and canvas to give it a little volume and sturdiness. Then I added some Prima bling and lace. Here are mine:

I also added some pink seam binding for a finishing touch..forgot that picture..lol!  Hope you like them.

Soft and scratchy flowers....

There is just something enjoyable about playing with fabric, I love to cut it up...layer it and create cute little flowers with all sorts of textures of fabrics. These were made using a combination of burlap, canvas, muslin, tulle, and cotton fabrics.  Cut them all up in different sizes of circles (I use the Sizzix circle die..4 sizes in one cut) , fray and distress the edges a bit and glue all the layers down with a little tacky glue or hot glue gun. Easy peasy!!  Add some cute packaging  and you have a cute little gift for  a friend. So much fun!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Altered Domino books...

These little things are just so cute and dainty and so much fun to assemble!!  I just love finding tiny little images  and creating a little book that will fit in your hand, a little tiny piece of art.  They are very easy to alter using some alcohol inks from Tim Holtz or you could even use your copics to color them right up. I love the marbled effect so I reach for the alcohol inks time and time again.

You will need  a piece of ribbon or seam binding to glue onto the top of your domino to tie the two domino pieces together to form your book. This will need to be rather long..enough to wrap around your domino and tie.  Once you have picked out your image and cut it to size,  all you need is a little Glossy Accents to adhere it to your domino. Then I always give my image a good coat of Glossy Accents (or glass effect, crystal Lacquer or other brand). I add little bead caps to the bottom of my dominoes for feet. Next you will assemble your pages..I use the accordion fold method and glue tiny images onto the pages to match the theme of my domino.  Alice in wonderland theme books would be amazing...or a Marilyn theme book.  So darling.  I hope that you will try making one!  Here is what I have came up with for mine:

Art*I*Make

Its a new wave of charm making...based upon the famous Art I Cake charms and altered mixed media pieces, everyone is jumping on the band wagon and hitting the thrift stores for broken and mismatched jewelry, beads, metals and all sorts of goodies to create a few "Art I make" pieces. So thanks to Stephie over at Little Red Wagon Studio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fp2-xxxH8ic I too have become addicted to these little pieces of art.  :)  They are so much fun and can be made from virtually any little piece of junk laying around on your craft table, lol.
Here are a couple pieces  I have came up with using a couple charms and beads:

It's been awhile....

Oh my goodness I have been away for way too long! Life in general has been very busy for me and my family lately. My boys are getting older and a little more high maintenance, hahaha! It seems as though its something all the time. Mostly ball ball and more ball. But we are making the most of every minute because they won't be small much longer. Lucky for us they still actually like to hang out with us, lol!

I have not been scrapbooking in a very long time, I have a new interest lately and it is that of mixed media art and altered projects...which goes hand in hand with my new passion for estate sale shopping. Mondays are my days to find a good estate sale...  its one amazing scavenger hunt!!  Nothing is more exciting to me than finding an old vintage baby shoe, a bag of old lace or a tiny little old tea cup painted with roses. Soo sweet!  I will show you what I've been making with these little treasures as the days go by...but for now here is a little video of some of my estate sale treasures :)

Sorry for the shaky video.. I was recording from my phone.

YPP button flower swap

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year! The holidays are a busy busy time for us, both with family and work.  I'm glad to have a little break and some time to play again.

I joined this swap over at Your Paper Pantry. We each made 3 sets of 5 valentine themed button flowers. I ♥these little embellishments!  So much fun to make! I can see how these could become very addictive and can be used for all sorts of projects.  I have used various papers from My minds Eye, Prima, and Glitz Designs. I used a couple different sizes of circle punches layered with nestie scallop die cuts and Martha Stewart punches ( pinking circle and butterfly).  I ♥ how they turned out and I hope the girls like them as well.
