hmmm...

hey pple! yeah. as u can see, coming up is the 8th of july performance. yeah. Mr Tan will be away, so he won't be conducting. so then, Mr Yeo will be conducting!!! yes. Im very sure u pple don't want to go all the way to botanic gardens and throw face there eh. not very nice also. yes. so what is the point im bringing across?

PRACTICE MORE!

as u can see, a band is as strong as its weakest player. ok. don't understand? i explain. it means that the band, is dependant on its weakest player. because if the weakest player creates a tiny dot. thats how bad the painting is. if the weakest player creates a whole lot of mess, that's how the painting'll be. and the painting is the overall picture. yea.so...

EVERYONE OF U IN IJ CORNET SECTION IS IMPORTANT!

so what if u playing 3rd score and play soft soft? so what if u play horribly? u're still in the band. u're still contributing something. its whether u're contributing positively or negatively. well of course i hope u all are contributing positively. but really. don't expect that just because 3rd part has a lot of pple, means that u all can slack and depend on the other person to cover up for u! it doesn't work this way. there's a reason why i put so many 3rds. its because so that thirds are always the loudest! BUT why is it that its always that 1st is always louder than u all? me, one person is louder than 5-6 of u. it should not be this way! really and seriously. u ALL HAVE TO KNOW YOUR PARTS. i cannot always be there to spoonfeed u. u have to figure it out yourself! don't expect a miracle to drop from the sky. Only with hardwork u are rewarded. yes.

INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY.

everyone is important. so what if u are only 1 person? 1 person makes a big difference. all it takes is one person to spoil the big picture. all it takes is one person to turn a million dollar painting to a painting worth not a single cent.

AND! don't always be reliant on me! i, one person cannot produce sound for the whole cornet section. im only 1 person. rather, i rely on u all to produce sound for the section. but why is it that Mr Tan says he only can hear mono and not stereo? do u all even bother to go back and look at your parts and figure out what u don't know? u haven't even tried to the very end and u give up and then ask me. what if im not around? your dependance on me will not last long. because then and again, im only one person. i cannot provide for the whole section, but depend on u all.

im open for pple whether they want me to do sectionals with them. just ask. don't be afraid. i don't want to have to call people down to practise! should i be prompting u? NO!

INITIATIVE

Are u taking the initiative to learn your parts? Mr Tan ever said

"you go for band practice, not to learn your part, but other people's part"

are u all learning other pple's part? or are u still learning your part? i'd really like u all to reflect. because, then can u all know what u all need to improve. I don't feel the want from u all to move on and improve. so what if we're a gold band? the medal only determined the performance we put up on stage on that SYF day. did it say how good or bad our attitude was? did it state every individual's standard? NO! it did not. all it did was to judge how well we played the piece. see. there's still LOTS OF THINGS TO IMPROVE!!!

yes. so at the end of the day, i hope u all see what im getting to. take more initiative. put in more effort. from now till the day i step down is approx 1 year. u all cannot keep relying on me. i'll be gone one day. so. Independance.
