Vacation Part 3

And last but not least...

John found some seaweed (which is unusual at this beach) and made a crown for Katie.

Know what's better than getting ice cream from the ice cream truck? Getting ice cream from the ice cream truck at the BEACH!

Katie has reached the point in her life where she needs privacy. And in a hotel room for a week, that's hard to get. But, the closet is huge and she didn't mind Hunter hanging out with her, so they took advantage of that for their privacy.

Getting in a game of shuffle board.

Nice to have a reading buddy to take breaks with me, relaxing with a book.

12 years ago we took Brandi and Amber to Discovery Cove. This year it was Katie and Hunter's turn. We had such a great day. It's really a unique experience. You get some one-on-one time with dolphins and can spend the day snorkeling and swimming with all sorts of fish. Definitely worth the trip.

It is beautiful there. Everything is very tropical. Lots and lots of shade, sandy beaches, and all kids of animals including birds, otters and other critters.

I love how cute they are in these wetsuits.

Our family picture with Kendall. She's the dolphin we spent the most time with. We pet her, fed her and made her do tricks.

Katie, grabbing a ride on Lester. Lester was the dolphin that gave us all our rides. We took turns swimming out into the deep water, grabbing onto his fins and off he would go. Really fun!

Katie giving kisses to Kendall.

Hunter got a ride with Akai, a smaller dolphin. The staff and Akai were great with making sure Hunter felt comfortable with his dolphin experience.

The view from our balcony at the hotel. This is a sunset picture, however the sunset is behind us. The glow you see in the picture is the reflection of the sun on the clouds and palm trees.
Until next year...

Vacation Part 2

More of our fun...

We took a ride on a catamaran. First it stopped on a sand bar so we could swim and play for a while, then moved out into the ocean. We saw some dolphins and a manatee. It was a fun ride!!

We sat on the net part of the time and you could see the water underneath.

Hunter enjoyed riding over the waves.

It was called the Arabella.

Walking on the sandbar.

Katie and Hunter grabbed a seat up front. Such a great ride!

A view of the lighthouse from the water.

We went crab hunting a couple of nights. The kids were ready with their equipment: nets, buckets and flashlights.

We caught three different kinds of crabs. This was the biggest. There are a few more in the bucket, buried under the sand.

We all got to hold an alligator too. It's skin isn't as rough as I had expected.

Vacation Part 1

We had a fabulous vacation again this year!! Here is a peek...

They built several sand castles.

And Hunter dug MANY holes.

Our hotel in the background.

Sometimes you just have to be silly.

Hunter would dig holes they could sit in, and Katie would work on the castles. (Of course John helped both of them.)

One of the fancier castles.

And we had lots of time in the pool. Hunter swims like a fish!
