Teddy Bo Top Tips Thursday

Today we have a fantastic tutorial from another one of our newest Design team members Wendy aka Woo.
You may have seen her fabulous Transparent Tunnel card on her blog last week and she's very kindly made us a tutorial so you can make your own.

So what are you waiting for grab your stash and join in.
You could of course make one and share with us in our current Celebration challenge.

Firstly cut all your papers, transparency film and punch/die cut your embellishments ready to assemble your card.  To make mine I cut:

2 x 12cm x 20cm rectangles (concertina sides)
1 x 20cm x 8cm (border)

1 x 20cm x 20cm Base Card & 1 Transparency of the same size

1 x 19.5cm x 19.5cm Paper of choice

2 x Image of your choice
I used TeddyBea_209 (to decoupage areas - gives dimension)
                                                      Tape & Tools
Construction
First of all matt and layer your Base Card & your patterned paper and on the reverse tape the out side edges only ready to apply your concertina sides. Then take your 12 x 20 rectangles and score them at 3cm, 6cm and 9cm, then fold as diagram 1.Then apply to the back of your base card using the tape you applied on the outside edges. Make sure that the base card fits snuggly into the back fold on either side to keep the size of the overall card at 20 x 20cm.  See Diagram 2.
Diagram 2
 Diagram 1.
Then you need to build your picture for the inside of your card.  I used a square of scrap green card for mine and built the background using Die Cut leaves from all scraps of paper to create a 3D effect and an autumnal feel to the tree that my beautiful Teddy Bea was going to sit in.  Once I applied my image I finished off by arranging leaves on to the top of the image so that it looked like she was in the tree.
I then coloured my Teddy Bea and the hat and eye area of my second image
Teddy Bear Fur Copics E50/51/53
Body Feathers Copics E31/33/35
Wings & Crown Copics E43
Eye Area E50/53 Outlined with Black Promarker
Hat Copic E08 & Promarker Ginger
Beak & Claws Promarker Pumpkin/Gold/Mustard
I curled the very lower edge of the second hat to curl it down slightly and then applied to my main image with foam pads and highlighted my image using Copic BG10.
I then cut around Teddy Bea, leaving a small margin all around my image, Decoupage is my pet dislike! So I try to make it as easy for myself as possible.  Prepare your base card with your embellishments, on mine I added just 3 simple flourishes, but you can make it as fancy as you like.  I added Glossy Accents to the eyes on Bea's hat and some stickles glitter to her hat bobbles.
Now the tricky part, applying the transparent film to the card!  I have found the easiest way to do this is prepare the front edge with all your tapes first and then lay the transparency into the fold and push the tape to meet the film once it's where you want it, otherwise it will crinkle and crease and doesn't fit properly!
Then do exactly the same on the other side to finish the structure of your card ready to decorate the front.  So before you start your embellishments for the front punch out and apply your border top and bottom then add your embellishments and your card is finished! Hope you like it and enjoy having a go for yourself!
I'd love to see what you make.
Hugs
Wendy xx

Teddy Bo Tuesday

Good Morning all.....sorry if you read this before I'd finished it...I was SURE I'd scheduled it to post at lunch time as I knew I was busy first thing but it appears that my fingers clicked the wrong '12' and it went live at midnight instead!!!

Anyway....I hope you're well today....this week the children in the schools surrounding Teddy Bo Towers finish up for their summer holidays but it also marks the end of my youngest child's time at Primary School......we had their 'Leaver's Do' last night and I'm not ashamed to say that the mascara was well and truly tested!!  So after the summer he will join his older sister at the High School and a new chapter in his life.   God I'm feeling old today!!!!! ;O)

With the summer holidays being round the corner for so many it seems to have impacted on our challenge entries too as there was only six of them, but they were all wonderful and you'll see our winners soon.

 Items Needed..

2 A3 Sheets Card
2 Contrasting Sheets 12 x 12 Card
Grand Labels One dies from Spellbinders
Grand Callibur
Neenah Card for Printing Image and Senitment on to (and for punched border if required.)
Button Boxes from Crafty Ribbons (to make your quick drawers.)
Ribbon.
Buttons.
Stapler and Strong Wet Glue (I used Collal Gel.)
Either DST or other Wet Glue (I used Collal All Purpose.)

Step One..

Fold one sheet of  of your A3 card in half  place your largest Grand Label One die - so that it slightly overhangs the folded edge.  Run it through your Grand Callibur in the normal way, embossing also.

When you open it out you should have a shaped card base.

Step Two..

Fold one panel of your card base in half and score firmly.  Put to one side.  Now cut two more peices from your remaining sheet of  A3 card - still using your largest Grand Label One die.

Step Three..

Make up your button boxes as per the instructions and place them side by side (ensuring they are all facing the right way up!)  Adhere them together using either your DST or your all purpose glue (I would recommend wet glue for lasting strength here.  DST will come apart eventually.)

Step Four..

Now take one of your cut out Label One shapes and stick your "drawers" centrally on top of it.  You can also add y our ribbon around the back and sides if you wish at this point.  NOTE - do not stick ribbon at the back, only the sides, otherwise your drawers will not work.

Step Five..

Now add your ribbon loops to the front of your drawers by cutting lengths and joining the two ends together.  You can staple them to the drawer fronts, and then glue buttons over the top with strong Collal glue gel if you wish.  I find this makes them extra sturdy.

Step Six..
Now take your "Easel" card base and stick the flat, unfolded panel to the top of the drawers.  Making sure it is lined up perfectly with the bottom panel.

Step Seven..
Next take your last label one shape and stick it to the bottom fold of your easel (as in the picture.)  You are now ready to decorate your card as you wish.  Smiles.

Hugs & Happy Crafting Everyone!

I have used TEDDYBEA_208 for my confetti box, she has been coloured with pencils and then layered on top of a frame which I cut on my Silhouette, I have added a feather and 3 roses cut from the same scrapbook paper. Bea's flowers have glaze on them and her hat has lots of stickles.

I have also had a little play with Sammy Spaceman who is one of the FairyD releases this week. I have coloured him with Promarkers and layered him onto black card, where I have doodled the border and stars, which have pearls in the middle of them. The Moon is tin foil which I used my 2" punch to make and the grass is co-ordinations paper which I have torn.
