Too

Recently Emeline has been saying "too" when Wes or I say "I love you" to her.  It's very cute.  We also do the 'I love you' sign, and she holds up a few fingers trying to imitate it.  I'm not sure whether she is holding up fingers trying to say "I love you" or trying to do number "2".  But either way, it is super cute and melts our hearts.  But today was the kicker for me.  She was in the car seat, and I was about to get her out.  She had refused to let me put her hair in a pony tail today, so we went to our mom's group with her curly hair all down and flowing, part of it in a clip.  In the car seat I was just admiring her long crazy hair and her sweetness, and thinking about how much I loved her.  Then, she said "too" and held up her fingers, before I had a chance to say anything.  Mommy bliss.

Here are a few pictures I took once in the house, trying to get a picture of her saying "too".

Little Sister

The poll is closed everybody, and it looks like the majority was right this time!  We're excited to meet the little one who will join our family this summer.  I wonder what Emeline will think when there is actually a baby in this onezie!

Here's a picture of our little girl from the inside.
And here's one from the outside at about 18.5 weeks.

Finger painting cookies

The mom's group I attend had some leftover cookies from an event and offered them us to take home to decorate with our kids.  I thought it was a very nice idea, but first thought it would be good for older kids.  Then I saw how many cookies were left over, and I thought maybe I'd just eat them myself.  But after a long tiring day, I didn't feel like taking Emeline on an outing to the park, so I decided to let her have at it with the cookies.  I know that giving her copious amounts of sugar to consume would probably not help me feel less exhausted, but hey, could be fun right?

So I dyed up some leftover frosting I had (killing two birds with one stone :) )...
Got the cookies out...
And then I let her have at it.  She's never finger painted before...or painted at all for that matter, so I put some frosting on my fingers and tried to outline a heart to give her an idea of what to do.
Here are pictures of what happened next.

There was a little cookie decorating, but for the most part once she figured out both the frosting and cookies were delicious, it was basically just a colorful snack time.   But that's ok too right?

Big giggles

Daddy always gets big giggles from Emeline in the tub, but usually I'm hearing them from another room and I can't get the camera out in time.  Tonight, since Wes was out for the evening, I got to get some big giggles for myself!  Common inspirations for big giggles are bouncing bath toys around the walls and catching them in the pitcher, putting bath toy animals on our heads and letting them fall into the water, and tonight's big giggle getter was launching the animals off the edge of the tub, complete with sound effects from Mommy.  Enjoy!

Baby #2, Boy or Girl?

We have our big ultrasound coming up in a little over a week, and we are pretty sure we will find out the gender of baby #2.  With Emeline, we decided to have a surprise, so we didn't know she was a girl until the day she was born.  This time around, we are tempted to do practical things like sort out clothing, pick names, but also we are just excited to know the baby's gender to get to know it a little better before he/she comes out.  So unless we have a sudden change of mind, in a little more than a week we'll know a little more about baby #2!

We've opened up a little poll in the sidebar ---->

So cast your votes!  We're excited to see what you all think :)

Bedtime with Daddy

Emeline loves Daddy, and Daddy loves Emeline.  Here are the two of them getting ready for milk and stories before bed.

First Ultrasound & First Trimester

Below are some of the first pictures of baby #2.  I'd been planning to title this post "First Ultrasound & First Trimester" and post it at the end of my first trimester.  Well my first trimester has come and gone, and yet I keep waiting for it to end.  As with Emeline, almost the first half of my pregnancy has been shadowed with exhaustion and nausea and vomiting. I thought about writing more about this stage of pregnancy, but another pregnant friend of mine wrote it out all to clearly.  If I was more articulate, this is almost EXACTLY what I'd say about being pregnant.

I also planned on taking a belly shot or two, but alas, feeling sick does not lend itself to feeling like having one's picture taken.  So I'm going to have to think of other ways to chronicle this baby's pregnancy.  Ideas anyone?

So until time and energy for belly shots, here are the first ultrasound photos of baby #2!  And in just a few more weeks we should have our 20 week ultrasound which will be an even more exciting view of this growing little one.
