Isaac at 3 years old

Isaac is growing up so fast. He is still our snuggly kid who loves his thumb and blankie and being held. But he's also turning into a little boy. Soon he won't be the baby anymore, and hopefully that adjustment goes well for him.

Isaac loves playing with Noah, although they fight a lot too. I'm told this is common for brothers. They love playing on their riding toys outside together and going with me on walks to the parks.

Isaac knows most of his ABCs and all of his colors, shapes, numbers, and his vocabulary has taken off. He does not have the same attention span for reading books that his older brother does, but he does enjoy stories and I often find him reading a book to himself. He loves to color, which has contributed to much body art and coloring on floors and walls. Isaac armed with a writing utensil can be trouble!

Isaac loves playing with other kids at playdates or wherever we go. He did so well in his Bible study class this year. He loves to sing and will randomly start singing Zaccheus or Twinkle Twinkle in a shopping cart or to the new baby.

Since he was two, he has had three or four haircuts!!! This was a big moment for me, since he finally had enough hair to cut!

Isaac is currently obsessed with coins. He finds money wherever we go! He raids my wallet looking for change and after gripping it with his sweaty fingers all day, usually puts it in his piggy bank. We got some library books about money, and you would think they are his new blankie the way he is attached to them.

Isaac is mostly potty trained except for #2. After a couple months, he's just not interested in putting that where it goes. :(  Hmm. Maybe I can try bribing him with pennies?

I love you Isaac. Can't believe you are entering more of a preschool age now!

Big Boy Bunkbeds

As we look forward to our new baby's arrival in about 3 months, we are working on a list of things to buy and projects around the house. One project was to purchase bunkbeds and move Isaac out of the crib.

So last week Jason spent many hours putting together a stackable bunkbed set. Noah's room is now both boys' room. For months they have been begging to share a room, so they are thrilled to finally be together! So far it has worked out well. Even sharing the closet space has worked surprisingly well. I am planning to look for matching comforters and hang their names on the walls.

Making a List

Noah is practicing writing every day at home and preschool. He has mastered writing most of the letters and loves to copy things I write.

In our technology saturated world, Noah sees writing in mainly two situations at home: writing in cards and writing lists. He has been making cards for a while but he wrote his first list recently. He listed a few things we needed from the grocery store. :)

Saying Goodbye to Grandpa Amos

This week Jason said goodbye to his grandpa who passed into eternity on Sunday.

Grandpa Amos, we will miss you!

Two big brothers!

Noah and Isaac are so excited to learn mommy is having another boy in July.

Noah is very sweet, hugging and talking to my belly and asking lots of questions about the baby. He wants to know how many years(!) until the baby is here and what foods will he eat. Noah calls the baby a little peanut. He says new babies just cry and sleep all day. He says he will be a big helper for Mommy. He says we should name the baby Peter Parker Liechty.

Isaac doesn't quite understand to the same level. He is mostly interested in cuddling with Mommy. He says we should call his new brother "a sister"! Isaac really wanted a sister... He has no idea how his life is going to change!!

At 20 weeks, we are halfway there. Feeling great! We are thankful for a healthy baby. The ultrasound looked great, which was reassuring after taking sooo much medicine a few weeks ago during the flu. I have been feeling kicks for a month, and Jason felt the baby for the first time this week.

We made a cupcake, Mommy!!

Before getting upset when the boys make some kind of giant mess or disaster in the house, my goal is to first take a picture. Doing this diffuses my frustration and puts the moment in perspective. These disasters are the funny moments later on, right?

Well, this one wasn't entirely destructive, but it did entail a long cleanup time.

The boys emptied the linen closet of blankets and sheets, took most of the bedding off of their beds (and mine!!), and added the contents of their pajama drawers. And some baskets of clean laundry.

Give two kids a few moments of silence, and they do this.

"Mommy, we made a giant cupcake!!"

No School Today

Noah's preschool was canceled today due to extremely cold temperatures and windchill. Hooray for a day to stay home. We are thankful for a warm house!

Our plans for today:
-Color pictures
-Read books
-Take a bath
-Play with toys & clean them up
-Eat lunch

What a hard life.

hot summer days

This summer has flown by and I haven't posted in months! Wow. There is a back log of pictures so we will see how much of the summer actually makes it on to this blog.

Before the water ban in July and before our grass turned completely brown! It is now back to green.

Popsicles are quite the summertime hit at our house.

Many fun hours were spent on this new playset outside!

I  might have helped them make a water slide....

mother's day (a little late!)

Every year I want to capture a photo of me and the boys around Mother's Day. As difficult as taking pictures of these boys smiling and looking can be at times, I think it will be fun to see how we all change from year to year.

Self timer does a pretty good job!

Noah, before his super short (accidental) haircut.

Cute little boys. They are so busy and so active but I love them so much!
