At school today, all of the kids got a cold root beer float for their afternoon snack. Leo had never had one before - or even ice cream for that matter. I kind of wish I could have witnessed his first ice cream taste since I've heard the story about my first ice cream experience about a hundred times. Oh well - at least I got a picture. :-)And I guess it's probably safe for him to try whole milk now.....

Backyard summertime fun
Last summer, Leo was still kind of in the newborn "blob" phase, so he couldn't really enjoy such things as pools and popcicles. So this year, we're pretty excited about letting him experience some good old-fashioned summertime fun. He still hasn't been in a "real" pool, but he's had fun a couple of times on this splash mat that his friend Caleb gave him for his first birthday.

Sleepy boy
I know, I know.... I've been a really bad mom blogger lately. It's just that this kid has been all over the place - crawling, climbing, singing, dancing and sometimes even trying to walk. And he's so much fun that we're chasing and playing with him every minute. And he doesn't sleep as much during the day as he used to, so I don't have as much time to sit and type out stories on the laptop. And on top of all that, my camera's not working quite right ever since Leo's birthday. I don't know what the deal is, but it's really frustrating.
Anyway, I'm staying home with Little Man today because he's been sick with Herpangina. Well, yesterday he was really sick, anyway. Today he has a low fever, but his energy seems to be back at 100%. Until about 30 minutes ago....
I sat him in his highchair with some lunch - grapes, fish sticks and yams. And while he was eating, I logged onto the computer to check in with work. Every time I looked up, Leo was eating those grapes and fish sticks (the yams, not so much). And then I looked up to see him passed out in his highchair. He's only done that once or twice, so I took a picture with my phone.
I went to get him out of the high chair and he kind of opened his eyes but when back to sleep. I picked him up and he passed back out on my shoulder. This kid was freakin' tired! Unfortunately, I could smell that he needed a diaper change before heading to his crib. So I laid him on the changing table and he gave a little whine and then passed right back out! He laid there on his back completely asleep while I changed a (particularly nasty) poopy diaper. I don't think he's ever done that - even in those sleepy newborn days. I was silently laughing the whole time I was cleaning him up. He usually wrestles and kicks during diaper changes (which is really the only time he's "difficult" at all). Not this time. It was a breeze!
Just as I finished getting him clean and grabbed a fresh diaper, he rolled over (still asleep) and stuck his little butt in the air and smiled. It was so cute - I wanted to just let him nap like that - naked on the changing table! But I rolled him back over to get that clean diaper on and now he's passed out in his crib. Hopefully kicking that virus's butt.
You might not find that little tidbit as cute and funny as I did, but I just had to share. I tried to call my mom, but she's at work. Tried to text Steven, but he's on a plane. So I blogged again. Finally.
