Sugar and Spice, and everything Nice

That is what our baby is made of! Thanks for your votes folks. It was looking like the "blue" team would take the prize, but at the last second team "pink" made a surge for the victory. Congrats if you voted pink, better luck next time (next time?!) if you voted blue.

As for the details... we saw everything! No one told me how much you get to see at an actual ultra-sound. The blurry pictures you get as a consolation prize afterward do no justice to being there to see the "camera" moving through the layers of the little person, all while her tiny little fists and feet are flailing. I'm pretty sure we are growing a little ninja, because I detected some karate chops in there.

Pink or Blue

Okay everyone, we have an ultrasound appointment where we'll hopefully (fingers crossed) find out the gender of this little person in my belly on FRIDAY!

There is a poll to right of the blog so cast your vote before Friday and we'll check back in to see if you were right. Go ahead, click on the little radio button right now. It's easy. Just one click. Good luck.

New Years Eve 2010

I'm kind of a New Years Humbug in my old age. It's just not as magical as it used to be. I mean, I'm all about starting a new year and making goals and celebrating goodness with great friends - I just don't feel any different at 12:01 than I did at 11:59. That said, we had quite an enjoyable New Years Eve this year.

The Nortons had us and a few other people over to ring in the new year. I'm not sure why I didn't take a picture of their beautiful & plentiful food spread OR the Hosts themselves...but we got a picture of Riley's brother (below). Does that count?

We ate and played games. We sipped drinks (from 2-liters not 40's). I ate more than my share of Jelly Bellys - and still thinking maybe I should have filled my pockets before I left.

Nearing midnight, Riley handed out poppers for everyone and filled fancy glasses with sparkling cider. I couldn't have picked a better guy to get to kiss every New Years for the rest of my life.

3 -2 - 1 - HAPPY NEW YEAR! We blew our poppers, smooched, sipped our cider, and posed for our first picture of 2011 with obligatory streamers hanging. (I let Carl talk me into wearing the hat)
Here's to another excellent upcoming year. I'll be posting some thoughts on last year's resolutions on my personal blog but for now I'll just say that 2010 was really great but we are giddy with excitement about all that 2011 holds in store for us. We are both healthy and happy and growing our family. We have some vacations planned and some serious 'time home' slated. Before noon on New Years Day Carl already had me laughing so hard I cried...and had to sit down. It's a great way to start out a new year and I'm grateful that that behavior is commonplace around these parts. I hope your 2011 is just as wonderful.
