We were out of school until the 9th, so it felt like a whole extra week off (even though we didn't get out of school until later than most.) The start of 2012 has been fabulous. I have really been making an effort to be a better Mom and a better wife and I feel like the house is running much smoother. I want to be intentional with my days...not just get through them!
This picture was taken just after they announced the speech meet winners...and she WON!!! All the kids in her class had to, one by one, go in front of the class and recite a poem from memory. Three kids are then picked to represent the class at a district meet. Al was one of the 3 picked!! At first she said she wanted to do bad so she wouldn't win and have to do it again. Then we had a talk about using your talents and always trying your best and I guess it worked lol.
Cookie Grandpa and Grandma got Brookie this new bike for Christmas and it is the perfect bike for a toddler. She can pedal on her own and has so much more fun riding bikes with the girls in the front yard. She asks me daily if she can ride her bike!
Dex is destroying our grass - I guess with a Lab puppy it should be expected. Brian fenced off some of the grass to give it a chance to grow back - he was wrecking it faster than it could recover.
These 3 melt my heart daily. You can see Brooke's taped toes in this one. She has about 3 more months of taping her toes 24 hrs a day, before we go back to the Dr.
Alison got a retainer this week. She was Sooooo excited and thinks she is so grown up. It is rainbow, just ask her, she'll show you ;o) She wears it 24hrs a day for 3 months and then at night for 3 months. The idea is for the 2 teeth on either side of her front teeth to be pushed forward...it will make less work when it comes time for braces, but the main reason is that they are sitting against other teeth and will make indentations in those new soft teeth. I really really love our orthodontist, and although I wasn't expecting to start this kind of work so young, he believes in making the needed adjustments with as little intervention as possible.
We are a hiking family. If you want to find us on the weekend...we will be at sports, or hiking. I think this is Ellie on the Lake Mead Tunnels trail.
My love hate relationship with playdoh. They love it and I love that it keeps them busy and creating...I hate the mess. They do try to clean it up, but it's a given that I will have a mess to deal with when they are done!
Trying to make more lists to stay on top of my life these days...like I said being more intentional with my days.
Sweet Ellie was trying to help me out by cleaning Brooke's ears after their bath...she pushed a little a lot too hard and burst her ear drum. Brooke was screaming, Ellie was crying, I was freaking out a little on the inside. I gave her some Tylenol and she fell asleep. The next morning, there was blood all over her pillow, so off to the Dr. we went. The Dr. said there was "significant damage" and said that she might need surgery to graft the hole. Apparently it's pretty big (the diameter of the q-tip) and won't heal as fast as an eardrum that has burst from an infection. Right now Brooke is on antibiotics and we go back to the Dr. on Monday.
Ellie asked me to curl her hair the other day...it turned out so cute that I had to snap a picture. She NEVER wants her hair done!
My happy place - coffee. Loving my new Kcup tray and all the flavors!
Uncl Jeff got us Move for the Playstaion and the girls LOVE it. We just have one game, but they play almost every day.
It's hard to tell in the photo, but Brooke has a light up princess microphone that she uses to pretend to play. It's so funny hearing their grunts and watching their moves
until next time...have a blessed day!!
