Time to Catch Up!

Here is Ellie's first time at bat this season!

The girls scored on Valentines Day with all the mail they received!!

For Famous Americans Day at school, Alison was Elizabeth Blackwell...the first woman doctor.

Ellie didn't get to dress up, but her class sang for everyone.  This is her, her best buddy Mia and Uncle Sam.

Cole and Al...this photo is tradition  :o)

Opening Ceremonies for Northwest Girls Fastpitch Softball!!

She felt pretty tough with her black stripes!

Brian is helping coach this season - I LOVE seeing him out there with her.

Sunday we played in the front yard a bit - my little Diva

Happy Today

I have no photos, because well...I haven't taken any since my last post.  Lame, I know.  But I feel like writing a gratude post, and since it's my blog I can do it, even without photos  :o)

1. I am thankful for Brooke singing Christmas carols through Costco today.

2.  Thankful for coffee - as always.  Lately though my right eye is exhausted and the rest of me is fine...what does that mean?

3.  Thankful for my friends who help me put the most stressful situations in perspective.  Especially my late night text sessions with Camie...it's almost been a month so I'm due for another breakdown soon  lol

4. I realize this kinda sounds cheesy...but I'm thankful for my boy.  Us being married to each other is definite proof that the man upstairs knows what he is doing.  We balance each other out completely, and even when we are in a valley, there is never a doubt that he loves me.  One of my new years resolutions was to be more intentional as a wife (and mom) and I think it's really really making a difference.  Small efforts on my part, create big changes in us.

5.  Thankful for my father in law - who is retiring today! (with his cars, house and cards paid off - freaking amazing)  What a great example he is for my boy - and I'm lucky to have them in my life.

6.  Thankful for the electric blanket B got me for Christmas - you see, I am cold blooded. So whatever the temp is outside, that's what it is in my bones too.

7. Thankful for Alison's funny talk since she got her retainer.  She makes cute little sound messages to herself on her itouch to remember what she sounded like  "hello me when I'm older.  We got a new retainer today and we talk funny now.  Dad says it will get better as I get used to it, so I'm sending you a message so we don't forget."   I wonder if there is a way to get those off of the itouch and onto the computer.

8.  Thankful that I bought a new swimsuit for Victoria's Secret and it fit already...the sizing was wishful thinking (I thought) for our trip this year.  not that i don't have work to do...but it was still nice.

9.  Thankful for push-up apps on my phone.  My goal is 100...I'm at 15 after 2 weeks.

Life Is Good.

New Year!

We were out of school until the 9th, so it felt like a whole extra week off (even though we didn't get out of school until later than most.)  The start of 2012 has been fabulous.  I have really been making an effort to be a better Mom and a better wife and I feel like the house is running much smoother.  I want to be intentional with my days...not just get through them!
This picture was taken just after they announced the speech meet winners...and she WON!!!  All the kids in her class had to, one by one, go in front of the class and recite a poem from memory.  Three kids are then picked to represent the class at a district meet.  Al was one of the 3 picked!!  At first she said she wanted to do bad so she wouldn't win and have to do it again.  Then we had a talk about using your talents and always trying your best and I guess it worked  lol.

Cookie Grandpa and Grandma got Brookie this new bike for Christmas and it is the perfect bike for a toddler.  She can pedal on her own and has so much more fun riding bikes with the girls in the front yard.  She asks me daily if she can ride her bike!

Dex is destroying our grass - I guess with a Lab puppy it should be expected.  Brian fenced off some of the grass to give it a chance to grow back - he was wrecking it faster than it could recover.

These 3 melt my heart daily.  You can see Brooke's taped toes in this one.  She has about 3 more months of  taping her toes 24 hrs a day, before we go back to the Dr.

Alison got a retainer this week.  She was Sooooo excited and thinks she is so grown up.  It is rainbow, just ask her, she'll show you  ;o)  She wears it 24hrs a day for 3 months and then at night for 3 months.  The idea is for the 2 teeth on either side of her front teeth to be pushed forward...it will make less work when it comes time for braces, but the main reason is that they are sitting against other teeth and will make indentations in those new soft teeth.  I really really love our orthodontist, and although I wasn't expecting to start this kind of work so young, he believes in making the needed adjustments with as little intervention as possible.

We are a hiking family.  If you want to find us on the weekend...we will be at sports, or hiking.  I think this is Ellie on the Lake Mead Tunnels trail.

My love hate relationship with playdoh.  They love it and I love that it keeps them busy and creating...I hate the mess.  They do try to clean it up, but it's a given that I will have a mess to deal with when they are done!

Trying to make more lists to stay on top of my life these days...like I said being more intentional with my days.

Sweet Ellie was trying to help me out by cleaning Brooke's ears after their bath...she pushed a little a lot too hard and burst her ear drum.  Brooke was screaming, Ellie was crying, I was freaking out a little on the inside.  I gave her some Tylenol and she fell asleep.  The next morning, there was blood all over her pillow, so off to the Dr. we went.  The Dr. said there was "significant damage" and said that she might need surgery to graft the hole.  Apparently it's pretty big (the diameter of the q-tip) and won't heal as fast as an eardrum that has burst from an infection.  Right now Brooke is on antibiotics and we go back to the Dr. on Monday.

Ellie asked me to curl her hair the other day...it turned out so cute that I had to snap a picture.  She NEVER wants her hair done!

My happy place - coffee.  Loving my new Kcup tray and all the flavors!

Uncl Jeff got us Move for the Playstaion and the girls LOVE it.  We just have one game, but they play almost every day.
It's hard to tell in the photo, but Brooke has a light up princess microphone that she uses to pretend to play. It's so funny hearing their grunts and watching their moves

until next time...have a blessed day!!

12/25

Christmas Morning!!

Alison got an ipod touch - "better than what I asked for mom!"   oh good! maybe it will make up for Santa's mistakes last year - they will never forget that I bet!

The infamous Leappad - She was so so happy!
 Alison made grandma a bracelet

I don't know where my photo of her with her Barbie computer is, but I think she was just as excited about these polly pocket princesses!

AJ got an awesome guitar!

And the only other thing Ellie specifically requested...a white doodle animal (not pink or purple!)
We had a great Christmas!  Thank you everyone for all the wonderful gifts - we are really really blessed!

POLAR EXRESS

The photos are all out of order and Blogger is making it hard to add photos right now, so I guess I will leave them as is.
Brian took Friday off work and we drove to the Grand Canyon.  We checked into our hotel and headed over to the Canyon - BEAUTIFUL!!  Then we drove around looking for an imaginary restaurant, and ended up at the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten!
Saturday it was super windy, so we didn't go back to the canyon...we stayed in the hotel until it was time to go to Williams for lunch.  After lunch we walked around town a bit, and took some pictures while we waited for the train. At 3:00 our train arrived and the fun began!
Sunday we all packed up and headed home.

Grandma and Ellie on the train

She loves her big sister!

Our Chefs for the ride

I told them to give their surprised look

The HUGE cookies we got along with some hot hot hot chocolate

waiting to see the north pole

SANTA came on the train to see us!

He also handed out bells to all the kids

Saturday night, we didn't want to chance any more shady restaurants, so Brian got Wendy's salads

The grossest mexican food EVER

The Grand Canyon in winter time!

All bundled up

The Ausmans

The 3 cutest girls in the whole wide world

She had never seen a pay phone before haha

Before the train ride we had time to kill, so we waited in line to see Santa.  Brooke FREAKED out and wouldn't talk to him or even stand by Al for the picture.  She told Ellie to tell him what she wanted...Ellie said Barbie mermaid.  Again Brooke FREAKED out...it was supposed to be Barbie computer!  She was screaming at Ellie that she said the wrong thing, now her Christmas was ruined.  I told her he would be on the train and she would have another chance.  When she saw him on the train she was able to squeak out what she wanted and Santa even hugged her - Christmas was saved!
