A final reminder, if you have not already received the email, tomorrow is the last day for you to let me know of your attendance for programs! :) Also, those who have not gone through their interview and can't make it for programs, please choose a day and put aside 15mins to come down for the interview. Thanks guys!
Here's a video Chester would like to share with you guys. I've seen it and I must say there are soooo many lessons to take from there - some of which we've covered on Monday night. Now, I know some of you may not be entirely comfortable with the idea of gayism, but I urge you to look past that and see the lessons in this video. Enjoy!
This video features legendary talk show host/American Idol's newest judge Ellen DeGeneres on the Oprah Winfrey show as she speaks of her life coming out as a gay person and ultimately her marriage to her partner of 4 years Portia DeRossi. I've attached some lessons I feel are important at the bottom of the video. Feel free to leave your comments on the tag board as well! :)
Lessons to take away from this video
·2:16 – “I did it for me to live in my truth”
èBe proud of who you are, no matter what other people think of you!
·3:00 – “Not just who you are when everything’s great but ... Who are you when everything is taken away from you, when you have nothing?”
èIn the most basic level of being... WHO ARE YOU?
·3:30 – “See the big picture and not getting stuck in ego.”
èThere is an energy and a spirit and a soul that we cannot fathom that we all need to be connected to and not be stuck in your own little world.
èFollow your life’s journey, your life’s purpose.
·5:25 – “It’s not about everybody approving of what I say/think, it’s about if I believe in it and if I’m being honest...”
èYou can’t make everybody like you
èChoose the expectations that you want to live up to.
Firstly, welcome to the official Assist Team blog. Here you will receive updates on your fellow assists, any assist gatherings and of course program dates! Yayy!
Now, this blog is not going to be super formal but we would appreciate it if you respect the assist team area and be ethical when you're interacting on this blog. Can can? :)
So. It's still a work in progress but we promise it's gonna look sexy once we're done!
