2008 Summer

Not much to say, just our Summer in a nut shell.
Fishing up on Cove
Horseback Riding in Kingston
Cousins in Richfield
Camping at Otter Creek
Girls Camp up at Gooseberry. Why am I not in there? Hello!
Elk on Cove. ( I think this was Wade's best memory)He was even pricing pressure cookers so I could bottle the Elk meat like his mom used to do? Bottled meat???? YUCK! Can't knock it til you try it.
My worst memory for the SUmmer

Brett and Paity just hanging watching TV
Brett didn't believe me when I told him he was allergic to cats. He had to learn the hard way! That right eye isn't closed, it is swollen shut!
Piute Reservoir with our ward party. Bishop McCallister takes our ward out to boat every year!! WooHoo. We so want a boat
Brett tubing even though it is a little fuzzy. Brett was the talk of the party. He was a Kamikaze tuber. He would just sit back and scream FASTER, FASTER! He hasn't crashed yet. Just one crash and an atomic wedgy and I'm sure he wont be screaming for more!
Under the tramp it's a lot cooler!

Harvest

1 peeler, slicer, corer
1 Strawberry

2 bags of apples A Ginormous amount of cucumbers
and 4 little helpers!! O.K. 1 big and 3 little

We froze salsa, green beans, squash, zucchini, and applesauce. This is my first time having a garden as I have mentioned before. It was great. We still have to wait for the corn and tomatoes for Spaghetti sauce, and fresh corn on the cob. Wade is so good at the gardening thing. He would come home after working 14 hour days to putter in the garden. NO THANK YOU!! I told him, you plant, tend and weed and I will Harvest and put away. I do not like to get my hands dirty. I can thank 7 years in the Dental office for that. It was really fun though. Everybody pitched in and now we have some fun things in our freezer. The apples came from our neighbors backyard. They just let the tree go, and I guess you could say I stole the apples. My cousin came over from Monroe and his long arms got all the apples that weren't wormified or rotten :). They made an excellent applesauce. I read a ton of recipes that said not to use sour apples. SO NOT TRUE. A little brown sugar and cinnamon and we were ready to go! We only got about a dozen strawberries, but hopefully next year it will be great. The difference between store bought strawberries and homegrown is amazing!!! Can't wait to taste the corn. Our neighbor had to come over and tell me that I needed to pick the squash. I didn't know it wasn't supposed to get to be the size of my leg! I just figured the bigger the better. Now I know. With a little patience, some knowledge, Farmer Wade and my new best friend Gardening Gloves, we have had a great Harvest. Now, what to do with 65 cucumbers???? Pickles anyone??
4th of July. Lindsey and some of her friends that cheered in the Parade
Lindsey got to help cheer this year and she loved it at first. After she walked the Parade and saw all the candy the kids got, she decided that next year she'll be a bystander!
Brett at the fish grab.

We had such a fun 4th. The parade was fun, and the fireworks were great. We went up to the Baseball fields by Lions Park and had a beautiful view. It is so fun for our kids to be able to do the same thing we did as kids. We sure missed cousins sleeping out on the Tramp though being steamrollered, and waking up to the cannons. Aah those were the days!

Getting ready for the Parade
I have to say Bretts is much better than Lindsey. She had Mom helping her. (My first) and Brett had Wade helping him. His (100th).I dont' have much of an imagination. I can execute an already hatched up plan, but can't come up with them on my own very well.
After the Parade

Brett was the first one across the finish line. He rode so fast, I don't think he understood the purpose of the Parade was to watch and look at all the fun decorations. Don't know where he gets his competitiveness from. No one that I know. Starts with W ends with E. Love you Bretty!

Back to school

Back to school already? Where has the summer gone? We had a fabulous summer! Lindsey and Brett got to spend a week in Montana with my sister Lisa and her family. Rollerblading, boating, tubing, trampolining, water fights, making movies, and who know what else. We got to spend a week with Wade's sister Jennifer. She invited us up to watch new puppies being born, Lagoon, Kung Fu Panda, and meals out!! Then Lindsey got to spend a week in Newport with Wades family. They go up there every year to a time share, and just relax and swim their hearts out. Some year we will be able to go too. They were both so ready for school to start they could hardly stand it. Neither one of them slept the night before. They were up checking the clock every hour, as if I wouldn't wake them up when it was time. Lindsey is in 5th grade this year with Marjie Larson, and Brett is in 3rd with Tammy Anderson. They both had friends from last year in their class. Brett's teacher is really in to sports, so he couldn't wait to spend some time with a fellow sport lover. They are both in Pahvant Elementary this year. It will be nice to have them in the same school. They are only 2 years apart, but have only been in the same school once. Go figure. So we're back to organization, getting up early, and a strict schedule. With football, tennis, and dance this season we are already hopping! So, we are back to blogging. I am actually embarassed to see how long it has been. I have been taking pictures, but just no time to sit down and blog. The Christensens are back, and the next few blogs will be backtracking.
