33

I would hate to not document what my awesome friends did to celebrate my 33rd birthday.  I am so lucky to have this amazing, supportive, attractive, creative, and a little crazy group of friends.  We have writers, actors, chefs, bakers, artists, models, athletes, marathoners, councilwomen, nurturers, perfect examples, and me in our little circle.  We are there for each other...and apparently we will be there for each other for a long time to come.
It was hard to load my aged body in the Charleston van.
We don't let our assets slow us down!
We fit in with the stereotypes...
if you don't look too closely.

Oh man.  This one gets me every time.  We WILL have our granny panties on outside our polyester leisure suits because they will be signed by our favorite celebrities.  In this case, Justin Timberlake and Will (Mr. Parachute Man.)
It scares me how accurately some of us portrayed our future selves.
(except the bust here will never be accurate.  But I love you, Jerianne!)
I hope our husbands stick around to see how hot and sultry we still will be.
But if they're not, we will share our affections with each other.

I can't wait to enjoy our Riesens, black licorice, butterscotch discs, gummy candies (with really good denture paste), buttercream mint pillows, and chocolate.  I also hope my liking for any of those things comes with age.

I love these ladies.  How could we not have fun together?

I'll keep practicing my personal quirks BINGO game.
Oh, it's going to be fun to get old with my friends!  Luckily, some of them are older than I, so they will lovingly show me how it's done. ;)

Oahu 2012

The gift I was most excited to give to our kids was a trip for our whole family to our timeshare on Oahu.  In their stockings were the letters H A W A I I, and it didn't take long for them to unscramble them and figure it out.
We left on Friday, January 13 and came home on the red-eye flight the following Friday night.  It was the perfect week of swimming, playing at the beach, feeding the birds, eating, sleeping and just being together. It definitely didn't hurt that our surroundings were so beautiful.
We mostly spent time at our hotel, but Sunday found us at church and then taking a drive and a picnic to the other side of the island to see the temple and visitors' center.  Another morning we took advantage of staying right next to the Disney Aulani and enjoyed a character breakfast with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy.  It rained on Tuesday, so after swimming in the morning we drove to Haleiwa and had lunch and Matsumoto's shave ice.  Every other day after lunch we had shave ice from the hotel.
